Welcome to the Leamington Peace Festival! Welcome to the 39th Leamington Peace Festival. We hope you have a fantastic weekend with all of the music, workshops, stalls, food, peace talks and entertainment that are here for you to enjoy. Every year we try to bring you a diverse selection of entertainment, stalls, talks, workshops and more while promoting our core values of peace, compassion and understanding – values which we believe should be reflected in everyone’s day to day lives. At the Peace Festival, we believe peace is achieved primarily through understanding and compassion for all which includes everyone, regardless of colour, faith, age and status. On the weekend of The Great Get Together in remembrance of Jo Cox, we follow in her belief – “We are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us.” And in light of recent events this is truer than ever, we must stand together.
If you don’t know how to start then help us and your local area by donating tinned food at our food donation point for the Leamington and Warwick Foodbank at the Information desk. We care about our community and so should you. Care about the people you see walking down the road, the person in front of you in a queue and the person you see sat alone. Be kind and the kindness will come back to you.
This year at the festival we ask you all to be kind. Be kind to one another, equally to your families and to strangers you have never met. Join in with workshops, dance like no one is watching and make someone smile! Be inspired by the kindness that you see others showing and go do the same! As once said by Mother Theresa: ‘Peace begins with a smile.’
We hope that you love coming to the event as much as we love bringing it to you. We hope that you will come every year and maybe even get involved running the event one day! We are entirely volunteer led and are always looking for new committee members and new ideas especially ready for our 40th festival next year! If you are interested in performing, volunteering or having a stall please like our facebook page for updates or email info@peacefestival.org.uk

The Festival would like to thank:
All stallholders, workshop leaders, children’s entertainers, performers and speakers, the majority of whom have given their time for free. Our amazing volunteers who have worked so hard this weekend to ensure the smooth running of the event. The Committee who are all volunteers who have worked for many months to bring this fantastic event to you and without these the event could not run. Lastly, Warwick District Council and YOU who make the event come alive and without whom, the event would not be worth running. THANK YOU! 3

GET INVOLVED! NEXT YEAR’S FESTIVAL: JUNE 16th - 17th 2018 How To Get Involved: The Peace Festival is run solely by a small group of volunteers and we always need more help! If you would like to volunteer to help out on the day, help with publicity in the run up to the event, or help organise the 2018 event please contact the committee. They can be contacted by email: info@peacefestival.org.uk There will be a post-festival survey which will be available after the Peace Festival on our website http://www.peacefestival.org.uk where you can submit your feedback on all aspects of how this year’s festival went. Everyone is welcome to contribute. The AGM in October (please see our website for details on location) is also open to all. The committee will meet monthly from then on. • Feedback We welcome your comments about the festival, please come along to the Information • Performing next year form (follow links on our website: www.peacefestival.org.uk) and return it to us with links to, or a demo of, your music by 31st January 2018. Return address is: Leamington Peace Festival, PO Box 1686, Leamington, CV311WS. We listen to EVERY demo sent in before this date and select the performers from those available. We aim to provide a mix of musical styles, and also support local bands. However, we do operate a policy of not booking the same band two years running. All performers play for limited expenses or for free. • Running a Workshop or Stall: For 2018 we ask that anyone interested should contact us by 31st January 2018. Priority for enough money to cover our costs we have to charge the stallholders a small fee in return for a stall - this then funds next year’s festival. Stay informed: www.peacefestival.org.uk

HELPING HANDS COMMUNITY PROJECT Contact: Lianne Kirkman (Charity Director) Phone: 01926 732118 Local people helping local people in need.
Helping Hands Community Project became a Registered Charity in March 2015. (registered no. 277354), we are a community charity helping local people in need. We are governed by a small number of local trustees. As a community project we work with local people in Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth who are vulnerable, have addictions and need help and support to realise their potential. We offer the following support and services to the local people of Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth: We run an evening Soup Kitchen open Mon night 7pm-9pm , Tues and Thursday night 6pm-7pm. This is held at the rear of our charity shop. In the Spring and Summer months we run the Soup Kitchen out on the street. Our House2Home project supports local individuals and families in need who move into unfurnished properties. We provide items of furniture, as well as clothing, toiletries and other household essentials. Our Charity Shop is open Tues -Sat 10am-4pm. This is located at 12 Gloucester Street. We sell pre-loved items in our shop and is run by our service users who are homeless, recovering from addiction and victims of domestic violence. Volunteers can achieve an NVQ in customer service and retail skills to create opportunity for them to get back in to paid work. We will be opening a drop in cafe that will be ran by local people who we are supporting in 2017. Our Vision is to have more community enterprises to offer paid work opportunities to the local people we support. This will also support and sustain the long term growth of the Charity and help us to realise our dream of having a home in Warwickshire to support local people through detox and reintegration.

Sun Rising Natural Burial Ground Near Lower Tysoe, South Warwickshire
The ethical choice:
a truly green funeral in a place of deep peace. Working closely with families, we provide a personal and caring service for the burial of coffins and cremated remains, in growing woodland and wildflower meadow. This beautiful quiet site is carefully managed, creating a nature reserve as a lasting memorial for future generations. For those of any faith and none.

Peace Talks RIVERSIDE STAGE
SAT & SUN Every year we ask artists, campaign and charity groups to give a short talk between acts at diferent stages around the festival. At the heart of the festival ethos is our conviction that we all have the power to makethe world a more peaceful and respectful place. There are many ways to do this; we hope that by listening to the speakers this weekend, visiting the campaigning stalls, participating in the workshops, everyone will find something that empowers and inspires them to actively work towards this. Even if you’ve never thought of yourself as an activist, just listen and you’ll be surprised how much impact just one small act can have. Timings are approximate - see the blackboard for exact timings. Additional speakers and all timings will be shown on blackboards around the site.
