French Immersion
STUDY TSLP gives students a chance to immerse themselves in French or English and grow confident in their language skills. Courses include over 60 hours of language instruction and cater to all levels. A limit of 10 pupils per class ensures that all students are appropriately challenged. Tutoring, to supplement language instruction, is available at an extra cost. As a class, students attend various afternoon and daylong excursions which provide opportunities to practice the target languages in real-world situations. Tours and workshops encourage students to communicate with their
French Switzerland is an ideal place for students to learn and improve their French. Our qualified, native-speaking teachers encourage students to become effective communicators. Every day our students hear announcements and attend meetings in French. Teachers and staff encourage students to practice their French during meals, activities, cultural outings, and sports. Students can extend their summer language-immersion experience with an optional additional week in Paris at the end of the program.
English-as-an-Additional-Language (EAL) Our EAL program inspires students to become fully integrated into the bi-lingual community of the program. English is the common language between students, and EAL students have ample time outside class to practice the language. The EAL courses focus on real-world communication skills that build confidence and encourage correct usage. All activities, sports, and excursions are explained in English, which provides more opportunities to practice outside of class. 9

Outdoor Adventure Sports Track
To supplement the intense morning language classes, language-learners sign up for one of the two exciting extracurricular tracks that take advantage of this spectacular part of Switzerland.
The Gstaad valley is renowned for its rugged beauty and challenging terrain, and students enrolled in our Outdoor Adventure Sports Track explore this region in a variety of ways. Afternoon activities include kayaking, rafting, and canyoning Alpine rivers, rock-climbing, mountain-biking, glacier hikes, and sailing Lake Geneva. Many of these activities are combined with the Ecological Leadership Adventure Program. The Adventure Sports Track option culminates in the RAID, a challenging adventure race set in various Alpine terrain which relies on physical fitness, teamwork, and confidence.
Traditional Swiss Experience Track The cultural riches of the Gstaad valley date back centuries, and many traditions are still in place today. For the full Swiss experience, learn how cheese, chocolate, wine, watches, knives, and electricity are made with on-site visits to factories and artisan workshops. Other activities include exploring the remarkable Bex Salt Mines and visiting the famous vineyards of Lavaux. Students on the Swiss Experience Track are welcome to join in the many outdoor adventure sports available, including rock climbing, canyoning, rafting, and sailing. They may also sign up to play tennis or golf, or go horseback riding twice a week during the program, at an extra cost. Students are also invited to take part in the RAID adventure race at the end of the program, as a challenging option. Optional activities for all students include paragliding and hot-air balloon ride through the Gstaad valley, at an extra cost.

All TSLP students spend time learning skills to document their experiences. Photography, video, and GoPro workshops introduce students to techniques that result in exceptional images that help students visually tell their stories. TSLP students should bring their own digital cameras. They also learn the basics of responsible social media use and learn how to write blogs that both report on events and inspire readers. Students also attend workshops and lectures that
celebrate the environmental and ecological distinctions of this special part of the world. Evenings are spent in group activities that encourage camraderie and friendship. These include volleyball, basketball, and soccer games, a SwissQuiz Night, the TASIS Olympics, and special cooking workshops. TSLP students also prepare performance pieces and videos to showcase during the final evening event.
