How excited am I that Christmas is almost here! I do go a little crazy with the decs at home, but I do enjoy making the house look very festive. I love my upside down Christmas Tree, as it fits nicely in a corner. My friends often think that I’ve not read the instructions properly, but it really is an upside down tree! The Fireplace mantle is up the right way and full of festive foliage...of course twinkling with micro lights. Then, reaching the top of my stairs is no easy feat, as the banister is adorned in a very bushy, dressed garland smothered, again, in micro twinkling lights. Not leaving out the bathroom, this year I have decked it out with Christmas nautical items, which I bought in the States. To finish off Santa’s Grotto...I have a large prickly bush outside covered in red berry lights, and on the porch roof, more twinkling lights and a garland boasting homemade dried orange slices and cones from local woods sprayed with metallic covering......I’m done! Meanwhile, it was lovely seeing so many familiar faces at this year’s Copra Ball. Well done to Debbie Trumper and Camilla Pascucci who, once again, organised another fun, pre-Christmas party where over £40k was raised for our industry charity, Look Good Feel Better. If you attended the Ball then turn to page 16...you may be featured! Also, in this issue, we have featured a selection of gold offerings, as well as ideas on choosing the right aroma for the home. Furthermore, not forgetting our regular columns from Persolaise (page 10) and Kathryn Danzey (page 12) A big thank you to esprit’s regular freelance Contributors, who have constantly supplied readers with informative features throughout the year, and especially the esprit team (Terry, Maria and Deborah) for their dedication, hard work and continued support. Estée Lauder signs Chinese model Famed Chinese Model and fashion icon, Fei Fei Sun, has been signed up as a Global Spokes-model to represent the Estée Lauder brand With a social following of over five million across Weibo and Instagram, Fei Fei joins the current listing of Estée Lauder spokes-models, Carolyn Murphy, Joan Smalls, Kendall Jenner, Gabriella Wilde, Yang Mi, Hilary Rhoda and Misty Copeland. Fei Fei, 28, was discovered at the age of 20 and immediately moved to the big apple where she made her debut in the spring 2011 shows. Since then, she has become a fixture on numerous runways in addition to appearing in campaigns for Louis Vuitton, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein Jeans, Valentino and Barney’s, amongst others. “We are thrilled to welcome Fei Fei to the Estée Lauder brand,” said Stephane de La Faverie, Global Brand

Mentoring Event with Baylor Klein CEW recently held its Mentoring Event - ‘Beauty Brand Makeover Tips: What Drives Value in M&A’, where they welcomed special guest speaker Tim Leach, Managing Director of Baylor Klein Tim shared his expert knowledge on what brands can expect from investors when they consider selling, as well as providing the audience with insider knowledge on how a brand can maximise value and appeal for potential buyers. With over 15 years of M&A (Mergers & Acquisitions) experience in the household, personal and beauty care industries, Tim has worked with the owners on the sales 4

of Charles Worthington, The Sanctuary Spa, Fudge Haircare, Liz Earle, Bulldog Skincare for Men, REN and ESPA, to name but a few. Furthermore, he recently completed the minority investment for DECIEM by Estée Lauder. Tim explained that despite uncertain economic situations there continues to be a steady stream of beauty brands being acquired or invested in by either the global majors or private equity funds, with over 344 global M&A deals being completed in the beauty market since 2011. “Buyers are most interested in brands that capitalise on new trends and set their focus on fast growth areas within the industry,” expressed Tim. Furthermore he stressed the importance of a brand having gross margins of +70% as well as the growing significance of a

Guests walk the Red Carpet at the Copra Ball Once again, the fabulous Park Plaza Hotel, Westminster Bridge, London, was buzzing with excitement as over 650 of the most influential beauty industry insiders arrived for Copra’s ever impressive annual Ball This year, the ‘Hollywood Red Carpet’ themed event was full of glitz and glamour and as guests made their way to Copra’s pre-drinks Reception they were greeted by the elegant ‘Top Hat and Tails Hollywood Dancers’, who later took to the stage for a show-stopping performance. As guests made their way to beautifully decorated tables, a very dapper looking Vesa Kalho, Copra’s Chairman, took to the stage and gave a warm welcome. He thanked those involved in organising such an exciting and successful event, as well as all the companies support and sponsors. As well as being the beauty industry’s Christmas party, the evening provides the opportunity to raise money for Look Good Feel Better through the much anticipated ‘pledge moment’ and the incredible Raffle, which was well received. With Black Friday weekend out of the way, December is still the most profitable month of the year. Not everyone wants to start their Christmas shopping early, but wait until the festive month of December is in full swing and then they are ready to enjoy the merriments of seeking out the perfect gift for the special people in their life. Eye-catching packaging tends to draw customers to the counter... especially the colour gold. Everyone appears to like something bright and shiny, and in this month's issue, I've picked out a number of his and her beauty products that are not only packaged in stunning gold livery, but deliver the results that are expected of each.
