An Operation Manual of the Special Package of Health Services for Foreign Visitors under the Campaign of “Visit Thailand Enhance Your Healthy Life” Background

According the governmental announcement, “Medical Hub” is considered as a significant policy by offering the medical services, which are popular among the foreign visitors. It includes medical check-ups and dental services. The Director-General of the Department of Health Service Support has collaborated with the H.E. Thai Ambassador in Oslo, Kingdom of Norway, to impose the policy of the medical service package serving the Scandinavian visitors, who wish to travel to Thailand for medical care, and establish the “Business Matching” campaign, accompanied with Tourism sectors of Kingdom of Norway, in order to plan the program for Norwegian people to receive medical treatment in Thailand. In addition, the advancement of Thailand’s medical sciences and technology in the treatment process of fertility helps women, men and couples who are struggling with fertility problems to approach their fertility by using the medical technology of reproductive health; therefore, some of Chinese people have determined to travel to Thailand to receive the services. Government of Thailand by the ministers of the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports are the chairman, launched the policy of the medical and wellness tourism support and approved the ways to make up the special medical package including the Health Check-up Package, Dental Services Package and fertility treatment Package in order to actively serve the foreigners. Since there are too many well-known medical centers with high quality, international standard, advanced technological equipment, reasonable price and short queue, most of the foreigners then decide to come to Thailand to get the services. As a result, Thailand can earn more income from this as well. As it was assigned by government to promote the hub of Medical and Wellness Tourism, the Department of Health Service Support performs its duties as a main sector in coordinating and drawing up the operation manual of the Special package which are Health Check-up Package and Dental Services Package for Non-Thai visitors and Fertility Treatment Package for Chinese visitors under the campaign of “Visit Thailand Enhance Your Healthy Life”.

Objective

1. To make the medical centers and the sectors involved in preparing the operation manual of the special package which are Health Check-up and Dental Services Package for Non-Thai visitors and Fertility Treatment Package for Chinese visitors under the campaign of “Visit Thailand Enhance Your Healthy Life” acknowledge, understand, specialize more operational skills in the same ways effectively. 2. To guide the operation officers in both public and private sectors engaged in the process of setting up the special medical packages, granted for the foreigners, including: 2.1 The health check-ups and the dental services that support the services for Non-Thai visitors. 2.2 Fertility services in reproductive medicine serving for Chinese. 4 Department of Health Service Support Ministry of Public Health

The Related Processes 1. Department of Health Service Support had made the announced list of medical centers applying to participate in this project of special packages of health services. 1.1 Duration of Operation - The health check-up and the dental services are from 9 September 2016 to 31 December 2016. - The fertility treatment started from 9 September 2016 onwards 2. Approved by Department of Health Service Support, the medical centers, which joins the campaign, proceeds preparing the special medical packages to support the services for the foreign visitors to become the â&#x20AC;&#x153;Medical and Wellness Tourismâ&#x20AC;?. The three divided packages are: 2.1 The health check-up package (the fixed prices are set up) regarding the age ranges for men and women: under 30 years old, 30-40 years old, 40-50 years old and over 50 years old. 2.2 The dental services package (the fixed prices are set up). Prosthodontics is divided into target groups of child and adult. 2.3 The fertility treatment package (The prices are set up by each of the medical center, yet the sorts of services must not be in contravention of the legislations, including Technologically assisted reproductive medicine surrogate children protection Act B.E. 2558 that the child is conceived). 3. The price of Health Check-up and Dental Services Package are fixed. Meanwhile, the price of fertility treatment can be depended on each medical center. 4. Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tourism Authority of Thailand has already publicized the special medical packages, 5. The medical centers proceeds publicizing the special medical packages in their own websites and at their places. 6. The customers who is interested in receiving medical treatment will choosing or deciding according the list announced by Ministry of Public Health. The package of Fertility Treatment The medical centers launch the packages and types of treatments to enhance the fertility treatment for Chinese people that do not contravene the regulations or the law issued by the Ministry of Public Health. Fertility treatment is the constellation of activities and procedures (e.g. in vitro fertilization, embryo transfer, freezing, etc.) which are intended to result in a healthy babies. Fertility treatments can help in couples whose problems arise either from women (eggs or womb) or men (sperm). Process of receiving service 1.
