Preface With love from Thailand If you are one of those who likes numbers, we are glad to announce that Thailand received more than one million visitors from Singapore in 2017! We may not be direct neighbours, but the proximity between Thailand and Singapore builds a really close friendship nonetheless. Like Singapore, Thailand is a tropical paradise with delicious cuisine and charming attractions. And just like Singaporeans, Thais can be assumed to be naturally discerning connoisseurs for good food and cafes, and always on the lookout for the next best thing. This booklet, “Thanks a Million”, is part of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)’s broader ‘Open to the New Shades’ concept. With carefully crafted contents to suit Singaporeans’ unique tastes and demands, this book is an excellent guide for those searching for new trendy destinations with places to stay, chilling, hanging out, shopping, eating and visiting the next time you plan your trip to Thailand. Bangkok might be your first stop while in the Kingdom, but it is always worth it to venture around, experiencing as much you can in the North, the South and all areas in between. So, welcome to the “Land of Smiles”. We are honoured to see you, and we do hope you will have a great time exploring, as always, in this amazing land of variety and abundance.
Thanks A Million!

The Charm UNESCO’s recognition of Phuket as a City of Gastronomy has recently spurred local and international interest in the local cuisine. ‘The Charm’ - set in an old shophouse in the old town - serves many unheard-of home-cooked recipes that used to be available only within Phuket families. Created by the internationally renowned Thai chef Wuttisak Wuttiamporn, the dishes are all elaborate reflecting the high skills of the master.
