Day1: The school and community in Pyhäjoki In the forenoon we would show you our school and present things that we do during a school week. We would show you how we work on our newspaper, how we are learning from entrepreneurship for example through our fair here in Pyhäjoki. In the afternoon we would take you to a bike tour to the seaside here in Pyhäjoki environment. We could try “stand up paddling” and then we could make a campfire and barbecue in the nature.

Day2: Energy from Pyh채joki On the second day we would visit the nuclear power plant windmill park and hydropower here in Pyh채joki to get to know more of the energy forms in the area. After lunch we would then have lessons from experts from both nuclear (Fennovoima) and windpower (SmartWindPower). The idea is to work with the learned things and to make different presentations and videos comparing different energy sources.

Day3: Kalajoki - Sea and Sand We would spend the third day in Kalajoki (30 km from Pyhäjoki). Kalajoki is known for its sea and sand, so that would be one of the things we would concentrate on. We would visit the marine and nature center with a guide. And after that we would have a walk on duckboards at the beach (1.5km - 2km) before enjoying lunch. After lunch we would go to the adventure park (where you can climb on trees etc.) to try out what we would dare to do.

Day4: The Pyhäjoki River
This day we would stay in Pyhäjoki to see more of its nature and especially the river. The plan is to hire some canoes and to make a canoe trip down the Pyhäjoki river. The canoeing would take a couple of hours. But we have planned the trip with two stops, so that we would have time to enjoy nature too and of course lunch and coffee too.

Day5: Raahe - History of the area On the fifth day we would be learning more about the history in our area. We would first take the bus to Raahe (about 30km from Pyhäjoki) to see and here about the city and environment. We would see the old town, make an island cruise, visit a museum and have a good lunch. After returning to school, we would have a history lesson to summary, what we have seen and learned in the forenoon.

Day6: Around the Pyh채joki island, wrapping up the learning Day 6 would be our last day in Pyh채joki, so it would be time to wrap up everything we have learned. We would start the day with a nice walk along the riverside for a last look around. A walk in the nature would also be a good way to talk through and remember our week together. And to start to plan what we would put in the newspaper that we would be making about the visit. So, after lunch we would concentrate on the newspaper to get it ready before our last dinner in Pyh채joki and before the bus leaves for Rovaniemi.

Day7: Rovaniemi - Meet Santa Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland, would our last route. We would start the day from the cottage village, where we would wake up in the morning. After looking around and the breakfast, we would start the day in the museum and science center Arktikum, where we could experience northern nature, culture and history. And in the afternoon, after lunch, we would visit the Arctic Circle and Santa Claus village, where we would have the change to meet Santa in person and if someone would like – there are many shops (for souvenirs) too. As a last thing in Rovaniemi, we would go for a picnic at Kuninkaanlaavu – where you could see a piece of the relaxing nature and probably reindeers too. This would also be the time to say goodbye… And start the trip back home.
