ERIC ALLAIN

CLUB DIRECTOR The reviews are in and the consensus is that this year’s Tavistock Cup, hosted at Lake Nona, was the best tournament yet. I would like to congratulate our team for the win and our members for their support. The sea of blue cheering on our squad certainly became the 11th man. Another congratulations to Graeme McDowell for an incredible round of 66 to win the Payne Stewart Salver award, on St. Patrick’s Day no less. A perfect ending to a perfect two days of competition. We have decided to rebuild the greens at Holes 5 and 13 this summer. These two greens have been very difficult to maintain to our standards over the years, and the time has come to start from scratch. Both greens will expand by nearly 50%, but the shapes and contours will remain very close to the original design. Hole 5 will be expanded into the left greenside bunker and will be just a touch deeper. Hole 13 will be expanded primarily to the right and will also become a bit deeper. This expansion will allow for many more pin placements and will relieve some of the compaction issues caused by foot traffic in the same general walk-on and walk-off areas. Additionally, outlets for the Sub Air System will be installed to give us more flexibility with our cultural practices and “help” the turf along when and if needed. Construction will begin June 16. We anticipate the greens to be fully rebuilt and grassed by July 15. Our projected opening date for these two greens is Oct. 1. This date could be a bit sooner or later depending on the grow in of the new surfaces. We thank you in advance for your patience as we continue to make improvements to the course. Until next time, see you at the Club.

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS Please join us in extending a warm Lake Nona welcome to the following new Club Members and their families:

LAKE NONA VICTORIOUS Lake Nona notched its second Tavistock Cup win thanks to a little Irish luck and a lot of fortitude. Team Isleworth may have taken a brief lead during the first day of competition, but Lake Nona rallied the second day to clinch a 17-13 victory. Finishing with a second-day low score of -6 (66), Irishman Graeme McDowell helped lead Team Lake Nona to a home-turf triumph on St. Patrick’s Day and took home the Payne Stewart Salver Award. As always, the competition was intense, and the practical jokes and pranks were executed in the same spirit. Ernie Els vowed his team would defeat Isleworth this year or be traded for another golf club from Phoenix. After the victory became official, Team Lake Nona members nearly drowned Els in a celebratory champagne shower on the 18th green. Most would agree the most revealing moment of the tournament came right at the start during Team Isleworth’s boxer brief hoax on Henrik Stenson. Greeting him with a pair of white boxers autographed by Team Isleworth, Tiger Woods poked fun at Stenson’s decision to strip down to his boxers before hitting his ball out of calf-deep water at Doral’s CA Championship. In true Tavistock Cup spirit, Lake Nona fans showed their support for the home team by donning blue attire that ranged from official Tavistock Cup golf shirts to rhinestone-studded Lake Nona tops. The Tavistock Cup returns to Isleworth Golf & Country Club March 15-16, 2010.

CAHILL RENOVATIONS For more than 30 years, CAHILL has mastered the art of building homes, each with a story, a history and a rareness that makes them truly unique. For the past five years, the CAHILL team has been building behind the gates of Lake Nona. Founded in 1977, there is nearly a century of building expertise between Steve Cahill and his two vice presidents, Judd Webster and David Cahill. It has been CAHILL’s tradition to provide Orlando with homes that please the most meticulous buyers. The practice and the reputation go beyond simple words. The taglines,“we have an attention to detail” and “we build with passion,” are certainly descriptive of CAHILL. However, it is the home that speaks the words the buyers hear, a language that only they were meant to understand. Now the same philosophy and experience is being applied to CAHILL home renovations. The inspiration comes from a very versatile team that brings big ideas and unleashed creativity. Many of the CAHILL team members have traveled the world in search of new ideas and concepts. Whether it is a 150-year-old floor found in a small village in France, or custom hand-crafted cabinets, each detail is strategically placed. Each turn reveals a surprise – an architectural element, a technological wonder, or the sheer drama of a new idea. Working with CAHILL is truly a collaborative effort and their precise assembly of experts guarantees the outcome of excellence. To find out more about CAHILL’s efforts in renovation, please contact their office at 407.422.0733.
