Dubai Trip Preferences Mrs. & Mr. Golba’s Anniversary

Prince of Persia by Harry Gregson-Williams

Dos and Don’ts Upon arrival you are transported to your hotel either by the hotel car or by airport taxi; airport taxi is good but beyond this point I would not use any public taxi unless I had to. I would either get hotel car or use the subway. Subway train has 3 types of cabins, public, ladies, and Gold; use the Gold cabin; traffic may get crazy during rush hours and that’s when subway comes handy, otherwise, due to many stops, subway takes a bit of time; facilities at subway are neat and clean Public toilets: extremely clean; if not, you always would see a housekeeper that would make your stall spotless if you tip him 5 - 10 Dirhams ($2-$3) Dubai is an ever changing city; no one can keep up with all the changes; on the other hand, naming convention of their roads are pure compare to what we are used to here; to get to your destinations you need to know an iconic landmark; avoid renting a car if your stay is short Let me lend you my subway cards so you do not have to pay for the card, you can top it up Let me give you local SIM cards; DU is a cellular company, upon arrival, after you pick up your languages and exit the double glass doors, to your left, where hotel reservation booths are, there is a DU shop, you can recharge the SIM and have data during your stay; I have extra phone to lend as well At any given time, you felt you are not receiving the service you deserve, don’t be shy to demand what you feel is right; the management used to be British and service used to be much better, but when management transferred to indians, the qualities has dropped noticeably. Priorities goes to British and then Americans; Abu Dhabi is the opposite, Americans then British US has two embassies, one in each Emirate, Dubai and Abu Dhabi; have the contacts handy just in case; US Embassy in Abu Dhabi has an amazing Architecture Emirates Terminal 3 has amazing gift shops and most of the bigger brands have branches within the terminal and they are 8% cheaper than within the city; also terminal 3 has a hotel for ones who are in transit so you do not have to enter the city and restaurants, fast foods, and cafes are amazing; spas, etc

Downtown Dubai Contemporary meets Ancient

Ewaan Restaurant Ewaan restaurant at The Palace Downtown is a must; it’s a Mediterranean buffet, unlike buffet the menu and the quality of the meal is amazing; make a reservation and request a private booth indoor; after arriving if you preferred to dine outdoor, there are plenty, but the indoor booths are limited and are very romantic; ask your waiter to close the curtain net and enjoy a dinner. they have live band as well; you may stay as long as you wish, some stay till passed midnight and request backgammon or cards to play; after dinner, take a walk outdoor at the Palace and walk to the Old Town; amazing masterplan were modern meets ancient; you may come back to hotel lobby and request for a car back or you may walk to Dubai Mall and grab a cab or subway. The Iconic Burj al Arab Madinat Jumeira Resort & Wild Wadi Waterpark

Jumeira Beach Walk Great walk, Spanish food, Marin & Dubai Marina Mall

O roading in the sand dunes is an experience. If you wish to do at your leisure, take Highway 102 and it’s 45 min. drive where you could rent your quad bike.

Qasr al Sarab Resort is 1:20 from Dubai.

Qasr al Sarab Resort Unforgettable Mirage

Qasr al Sarab (Mirage Palace), Abu Dhabi If affordable, highly recommend this on your return trip, go to this resort straight from airport and leave the resort only to go back to the airport. 1:20 from Dubai and you may hit sand storm; only go with their hotel car as this is a secluded place; but once you arrive you will have an unforgettable experience. If affordable, instead of the room, get a villa, preferably the one next to Sheikh’s; have your spouse visit their spa and you may get outdoor activities such as camel riding and archery. If people claim this sounds like Bab al Shams in Dubai, it doesn’t come close to anything Qasr al Sarab has to offer; this desert is where the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi is from. For reservation Click Here.

After visiting the museums on Saadiyat Island, stop by the Yas Hotel on Yas island; very modern hotel with great dinners. Unless you are madly in love with Ferrari, the Ferrari World theme park will not impress you.

The Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi I would visit it only if I was in Abu Dhabi. They always have nice exhibits, free of charge; i.e. Picasso’s work

Souvenir Pappa Roti at Dubai Mall is a must cafe; indulge yourselves with their amazing buns and flavored tea and if you were able to grab some for your KTGY friends, let’s say we will pick you up from LAX Bateel is another must; mainly a date shop but they also have cafes; try the cafe in most of the malls and throughout the city, but if you missed grabbing their packages, they have a stand at the terminal 3 too, limited items, but main dates, stued dates, some date cookies are available at their terminal. I usually go for the assorted box

Authentic & Lively Dinners Tribes is an african dinner at Mall of The Emirates; excellent steak and a live african band will perform natively. Paul Patisserie is another chain, french style dishes, very fresh and available most places
