CO N C EPT

As graduate students in the budding Master of Landscape Architecture and Ecologial Restoration program at Temple University, the SER student group saw this landscape as an opportunity to connect principles of ecological restoration with highly designed and visible landscapes. This adapted meadow incorporates native perennials in large groups as an addition to the “outdoor classroom” provided by the campus.

AMBLER W ET LAND G ARDEN

The wetland garden and the healing garden on the Temple-Ambler campus serve as precedents for the basin design, utilizing native plants and come at landscape architecture to emphasize the value of student lead projects.

OU DOLF AS INSPIRAT ION

Piet Ouldof ’s and similar landscape designers utilize natural palletrs and play with color, form, and texture to create a sense of place inspired by the meadow aesthetic.

EXIST ING DRAIN

Full sunlight and a border defined by topography, and visual connections to the edge of campus provide the opportunities for the site. The primary constraint is the need for high aesthetic quality throughout the year, as the site is located in a main area on campus. Similarly, the need for large defined groups of species fosters long-term maintenance success and design coherence.
