This portfolio contains selected works from Residential and commercial projects designed during my time at ASD Architects, RIyadh, OCD and Meta-Con Design, Lahore. The projects were chosen to highlights the diverse scale and design approaches. Explorations of space, tectonics, awareness, social interaction, and reactions to contextual influences have all been presented.

LAYAN GALLERY

Layan gallery is created to host not only over 200 objects from Saudi traditional and modern art but also from famous artists from all over the world. Different facade options were made an alternative to the traditional Mashrabiyas (Screen).

3 types of facade options were mad: Mechanical louvers that move in 2 dimensions according to the desired design to, fixed panels with perforations in gradient and kinetic façade.

An alternative to the traditional screen design, mechanical louvers with diamond-shaped motif designed as perforations in front panels.

MOHAMMED’S VILLA

The villa is designed to maximize its connection with the garden and pool area, forgoing a traditional fa-cade and installing glass panels held in place by thin black frames open to garden and pool. First floor is designed as a linear block with 4 meter cantilever over the pool and the garden.

The Plan of the house is divided into different zones: family zone, guest zones, prince office and staff zone and guest sleeping. Three different entrances keep the circulations of these zones apart from each other.

Full-height glazed surfaces allow natural light to flood into all area of the villa. Sliding windows can be retracted to open up the interior to backside pool area and frontside garden area.

MR EYAD’S VILLA

Curved roof villa for Mr Eyad was designed around a pool to give a sense of enclosure and privacy. The 4,000 square-metre house was designed as a complex for living and working. Pool is the focal point in the design of villa as it was surrounded by the male guest area, female guest area and family sitting area.

As the site sits on a close proximity of old city of Darriyah, the exterior walls were rendered with local Riyadh stone to respect the traditional colour and material.

The villa is C-shaped in plan, and the full height windows around the pool bring ample daylight in interior areas.

HRH P.TALAL’S VILLA

This box-shaped building sits right in the center of date’s farm. The arrangement of the spaces transforms the outdoor space into an integral part of the building. House features glazed facades on the South and East sides to open up to views of the surrounding Oasis in the desert.

Concept Diagram

A terrace stretches across the east facade and features a wide overhang, which is designed to shield rooms inside from harsh light and becomes a area to enjoy surroundings.

SADOON BROTHERS 05

The Mediterranean style villa was designed for 2 brothers with shared communal/Guest spaces on ground floor and bedroom on east and west side for each of them. The focus was the rear side of the villa where all windows and sitting areas open towards a pool which was situated at the basement level to make it more private.

AL MOUSA VILLA

Inspired by the surroundings, the idea was to create an exterior palette that blended with the varied textures and subtle colours of the desert, so the building would rest quietly on the site. The house was encased with a series of light-filled spaces: entry, courtyard, living, terrace and incorporated sliding and swinging panels that blurred the boundaries between outdoor and indoor spaces.

SOUTH ELEVTION

P. ABDULLAH FARM

The design is focused on a relationship between interior spatial organizations and exterior farming in landscaping. The client wanted to maximize the view of his scarce farming area. L shaped plan helped to open vistas and maximize the glazing.

Mr. ABDULLAH DEWANEYA

A small Dewaneya (Guest Area) was design as an extension to the existing traditional design villa. The de-sign followed the existing architecture language and ambiance. A traditional landscaped was designed first for an open area which was later transformed into lap pool.

FACDE DESIGN

The elevation of this Small Villa is a mixture of modern and traditional local materials. The building consists of interlocked, rectilinear volumes clad in stone, wooden strips and Riyadh stone.

TRENDLINE FURNISHERS 10

FACDE DESIGN

The design is focused on a relationship between interior spatial organizations and exterior supporting volumes. The facade of the showroom is combination of different volumes and intertwined surfaces. Different sized glass openings provide glimpses into the unique and bespoke furniture design by Trendline Furnishers.

GRC CAFE 11

The GRC cafe is combination of vivid scarlet and black colour simple volumes that contrasts with its lush green surround-ings. The red colour is meant to stand apart from its bland, suburban-style neighbours.The design in focused on indoor and outdoor spaces’ interconnectivity.

GUEST HOUSE

Traditional stone and plaster facades of this Guest House in the hilly town of Murre provide views of the stunning green mountains. All the surfaces are rendered in a mixture of stone and plaster that echoes the local vernacular architecture.

FACDE DESIGN

The project was involved designing the single storey office including a personalized space for the manager and landscaped spaces that echo its simple form and materiality.

A personalized landscaped space for the manager was designed enclosed with perforated panels to make it partially concealed from the road.
