CANADA POST:
The most prominent ‘rock’ (which houses the four agencies) features a glassy building skin. Illustrang that Ireland is an open and dynamic force in Japan. The facade will glow as night falls.
The second structure housing all the embassy facilies is a mid-tone grey stone panelled building. This is a more secure structure. There are feature windows to provide views in and out of the spaces.
The most grounded of the ‘rocks’. Relang to the earth and seled amongst the ‘plain’ this structure is composed of rough cut planes of dark grey Irish stone. Housing the library, it represents the great bedrock of Irish and Japanese literature.

BUILDING CIRCULATION
BUILDING CIRCULATION Planted light wells The lower ground level contains two large planted light wells. These angular shaped gardens will pierce the space and flood the large open spaces with natural light. The natural greens will compliment natural mber flooring. In addion both gardens will have a planted wall.
split apart from one another forming canyons of circulaon. Developing visual relaonships between the disparate forms.
‘plain’ element contains the representaonal hub, large open spaces that take up the enre rectangular plot. The three rocks sit atop on structural columns and walls.
Ireland/Japan Garden
The public area at the Eastern corner takes inspiraon from The Burren region in County Clare. The pavement and driveway will be stone covered; irregular grooved joinng and deeper feature channels will draw the visitor in on approach. Rough cut natural stones similar to those found in tradional Japanese rock gardens will act as public furniture.

The ambassador is lied atop the two large rocks. This is the most private area of the scheme and provides the most excing viewpoint opportunies. The spanning of both rocks represents the ambassadors role in bringing the two naons together, in effect their home is a physical bridge.

The public zone is found in the nexus of all three rocks and their relaonship with the plain. Visitors will enter via the large void atrium space and so will immediately visually connect with all the structures. The two storey library is housed in Rock 3 while the Hub is located in the ‘plain’ on which the rocks sit upon.
