This year we are thrilled to be bringing a bit of New Orleans to Stamford as we groove to the contagious sound of The Funky Dawgz Brass Band. We would be remiss if we didn’t remind you that Temple Rock is also TBE’s most important annual fundraiser after the Annual Appeal. Please take active part in both the live and silent auctions – not only do you walk away with fabulous items, but every dollar goes directly to TBE. Please spend generously. Unless other specified, dates and times are to be arranged for redemption of your purchase at the mutual convenience of the donor and the buyer, and all applicable offerings (e.g. lodging, airfare, restaurants) are subject to space availability and reservations. Auction: 1. The Auction starts at 7:00 p.m. Items, when practical, are displayed for your viewing pleasure on tables in the social hall. When an item is not able to be displayed there will be a sign describing the item in detail. 2. When you see an item you are interested in, CLEARLY write your bidder number, name and dollar amount of your bid on the corresponding bidding sheet. 3. Please make certain that your bid is higher than those above it, and observe the minimum required increment shown on the bidding sheet or your bid will be invalidated (deemed “illegal”). 4. We urge you to check back frequently during the Auction to make sure that you still have the highest bid on the item you want. You may wish to increase your bid over the last bid listed. The winner of each item will be the highest legal bid on the sheet for that particular item at the close of the Auction. The Silent Auction will close at 9:00 p.m. 5. At 11:00 p.m. a summary will be made available listing all the bidder numbers
with each winning auction item number beside it. If you have won items, proceed to checkout in the lobby to pay for and claim your merchandise or certificates.
Payment Guidelines: All merchandise can be paid for and picked up in the lobby starting at 11:00 p.m. 1. Please understand that it takes time to tabulate the winners of each silent auction item and then add the results from the Live Auction and create individual invoices for each bidder number. Please do not ask to be cashiered out prior to 11:00 p.m. unless you are using “Express Checkout.� 2. Items must be paid for by cash, check, American Express, MasterCard or Visa. There will be no fee for using your credit card. 3. You will be notified if you have won either an Auction item or Raffle item by 11:00 p.m. via email. 4. Express Checkout is available. If you plan to leave early, you may sign a credit authorization at Registration and your charge card will be billed for your purchases. Items may be picked up the next morning during Religious School hours (9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon). 5. Present your paid invoice to the merchandise distribution volunteers to receive your winning items.
Tax Information The Temple is required to provide information regarding the deductibility of payments by patrons at our fundraising events. The IRS states that fundraising activities in which part or all of a contribution may be deductible includes auctions when merchandise or benefits are received in return for payment of a specified minimum amount. For the auction items: The fair market value, to the best of our knowledge, will be listed in the catalogue. If your successful bid is higher than the value stated, the difference is tax deductible. The Temple Rock Committee
The Funky Dawgz Brass Band is one of the premier touring acts on the live music scene today. Emerging from Connecticut, these young men have engulfed the spirit and traditions of New Orleans as well as earned the respect from local musicians who grew up and reside in the city. It is impossible not to enjoy yourself during a show as they play a contagious upbeat mix of traditional New Orleans R&B, original music, hip hop, funk, and today’s top hits with a brass twist. They have toured internationally and have been featured in all corners of the live music scene. From playing sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden as the horn section for Dispatch, to Camp Bisco, to closing out The Peach Music Festival, their performances flow seamlessly from EDM festivals to jam band festivals to traditional New Orleans second line parades. When the band is not playing shows they are giving back to the community. The Funky Dawgz aim to connect, engage, inspire and rejuvenate music education in inner city schools across the country. The band frequently gives performances and master classes to young musicians in elementary, middle, and high schools across the region.

Ira’s professional speaking began when - at age 16 - he stepped before the microphone as a disc jockey at a little upstate New York radio station (WGGO in Salamanca). Then on to Texas, the state of Washington, Cincinnati ...and New York City and the nation on network television. A prolific writer and poet, Ira was awarded two Emmys for television writing. His poetry has appeared in many publications and he is the author of Remembering Rew, a poetry chapbook and two full-length collections of verse, Some Holy Weight in the Village Air and Songs from an Earlier Century. Ira has a Master of Fine Arts degree in poetry from New England College. He has taught poetry, communications and broadcast history at New England College, and he lectures and teaches at the University of Connecticut, Stamford, Western Connecticut State University and Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York. Ira regularly performed in the long-running musical The Fantasticks from 1995 to 2000. In the summer of 2003, he performed the role of “Henry VIII” in the musical The Prince and the Pauper at New York City’s Lambs Theatre. That summer, Ira also performed with Skitch Henderson and the New York Pops at Connecticut’s Ives Center. He appeared as “Monsignor Buckley” in The Gardens of Dromore at the New York University Hot Ink Festival. Ira had a role in the film California Girls with Robbie Benson and in the ABC daytime drama Loving. He appeared for many years on the CBS Television Network’s Early Show.

Here is what Cheryl said about the experience: This was one of our best family vacations ever. We split our time between two resorts. The family resort was lovely, and the fancier resort was so gorgeous it was like being on Fantasy Island! There were lots of fun excursions and things to do at both properties. I also found the company to be very easy to deal with. They were flexible when we asked if we could split the vacation between two resorts. The service at the resorts was great also – everybody on staff was so helpful. I was wondering if the benefits would be worth the supplemental fees, but for what we received the vacation was very worthwhile.
