These days we’ve interviewed Adam Katz Sinding. He just came from shoots and we’re already here. Let me bring a brief review from his biography, of course, if there issomeone in the world, which isnotfamiliar withhiswork (doubt about it). He is the photographer of our generation, having shot everyone starting from celebrities of the past decade — Anna Wintour, Anna dello Russo,Mira Duma, Natalie Joos,Joan-Smalls and just passersby. His works appear in nearly every major fashion publication. But he does not want to be called fashion blogger, and always underlines in every interview.
Adam Katz Sinding, selftought, + motivated photo journalist has been born in 1983, 3 May in San Francisco (California), lived in Paris and today is the citizen of NYC. Mostly known for his photos from Milan, Paris, New York Fashion Weeks; its future tendencies and portraits. And, owner of most favorite fashion blog-website. Adam Katz’s creativity and talent have kept him most wanted photographer the past years, and will continue for long. He’s personality is as well received as his black/white or bright color photos. Known for his signature Le 21ème; Uniting street style, fashion outfit and art in one picture. His aspirations seem to be guided by his father’s love to photography that laid the creativity and inspiration for Adam until today.

What would soon become known as Adam Katz’s trademark? Well, he has already answered that question belowin the interview. Facebook social plugin
How did you get started in photography? I just started doing it. When my father passed away I got his camera. He would take a lot of photos in his travels, but it was always a hobby. I used to be really really horrible at taking photos, but slowly learned a bit by making mistakes. Was there the moment when you knew that photography was what you wanted to do? Only about 2-3 years ago, when I moved to NYC. I never thought I could make money doing it, that’s for sure. I just thought it was fun. Did you have any mentors along the way? I had friends I would shoot with in Seattle and Tacoma, but we were all equals. I’m very stubborn, so I don’t really listen to advice. But I bought the equipment that my friend Casey told me I “needed” and I’d go out and shoot with him and my friends David and Karl. We would shoot almost exclusively at night. It was stupid, but we had a lot of fun.
How would you describe your aesthetics? I don’t have an aesthetic in my photography, I don’t think. I mean, I guess “wide-open” would be the technical term. But I shoot what I like, and that’s always changing. I really like people wearing black. But I shoot tons

term. But I shoot what I like, and that’s always changing. I really like people wearing black. But I shoot tons of color too. How did you come to Le 21ème? It means “The 21st” and it’s a play on the 21st century and the 20 arrondissements of Paris, which I was/am inspired by. If you could give one piece of advice to another photographer, what would you say? “Be there”
What does a typical day look like for you? Emails, coffee, walking, freezing/sweating, editing, running, eating, sleeping. Do you attend all the fashion weeks? Yes: Milan, Milan Men’s, Paris, Paris Men’s, Paris couture, London, London Mens (sometimes), PittiUomo, Sydney, Kiev, Copenhagen, Tokyo, Stockholm, New York, blah blah. I want to go to MORE! What’s your favorite season of fashion weeks? I like fall/winter if it’s not snowing. But the light is better in Spring/Summer. Where do you go for inspiration? Copenhagen/Paris for places. For photography,Jak & Jil and books/magazines (lots). How does that inspiration turn into reality? For me? Just,to be there. What is your dream city? Paris or Copenhagen. Or very likely somewhere I’ve never been.
.
How does New York impact your creativity? It’s not easy for me here. I don’t have many friends, and I spend a lot of time in front of my computer. When I travel, although I’m very busy, I am with my friends, and that makes me happy, and it allows me to work harder. You’ve been traveling a lot, so is there something you always keep on you when you travel? My camera! Ummmm yeah, I’m pretty basic. I don’t change my clothes very often because I just destroy them.My iPhone? There are so many portraits of fashion people on your blog, but you’re known for your street-style shots as well. Did you initially aim to cover fashion from an insider’s perspective? I have never had an aim. I just shoot what I like. I like portraits because they are very fast and you can capture a personality in a split second. Eyes are intense. How many posts do you do per week? 4/day, 5/day during fashion week. TOO many. What is your biggest upcoming project? Life. I just do the same thing in different cities. I don’t have projects really. Just fashion weeks. I’m too busy to take the time to reach out to brands and grow. It’s a bit of a Catch-22. Do you think blogs might one day replace fashion magazines? I hope not! I think magazines are amazing. I am 10x more engrossed in a tangible magazine that something on a screen. Favorite TV series or movie? I don’t own a TV, but I download “Breaking Bad” and “The Walking Dead.” I also really loved “Big Love” when it was on. Favorite movie: “The Life Aquatic” Any favorite books/magazines? Catch 22 (strangely enough,) Breakfast of Champions, L’étranger, 1984. Favorite food? Hummus.Avocado.Simple stuff. Dogs or cats? CATS! (Katz)
Okay, time for one more question. If not photography, what would you like to do? I love taking photos. I want to travel and photograph things besides fashion as well. Landscapes, people, buildings. I just want to see more. I love hiking, camping, cycling. I think I’d like to ride my bicycle across the USA or Canada. Maybe go from Denmark to Portugal by bicycle? You see so much more when you’re on a bicycle. This is probably not the answer you wanted, but to me, cycling is so romantic. You think so much, and also think about nothing at the same time. It’s cathartic.
