On Monday, Dec. 6, the Suffolk County Boy Scouts of America chapter acknowledged and honored Superintendent of Schools Roberta Gerold’s accomplishments with their first annual Excellence in Education award. “I have been an educator for over 40 years and nothing brings me greater joy than being the superintendent of such an exceptional
school district,” Gerold said. “Thank you to the Suffolk County Boy Scouts of America for honoring me as their first award recipient. I am truly humbled to have received this recognition.” In addition to the presentation of the Excellence in Education award to Gerold, the night’s event was punctuated by musical performances by student musicians and
performers from Newfield High School and Centereach High School. Vibrant, colorful student artwork was also on display for attendees to view and enjoy throughout the evening. Gerold came to Middle Country in 2006 after serving as the superintendent of schools at the Farmingdale School District.
