Congressman Lee Zeldin (RShirley) visited Comsewogue High School on Sunday to talk about a new federal-level effort to reduce the number of standardized tests students have to take. Dozens attended the event to show their support for the Student Testing Improvement and Accountability Act — which Zeldin is co-sponsoring along with about 30 colleagues — and their opposition to both the Common Core Learning Standards and state testing. The bill would halve the number of standardized math and English language arts exams students have to take.
