Vacation Homes
What Are Vacation Homes? Vacation homes started in the 1950s when people would rent out homes during the holidays.
Some home owners buy their own vacation home and when they aren’t using it they have the option to rent it out
On average, these homes have 4-5 bedrooms
Home owners or companies buy homes, renovate them, then rent them out
Rented out for a max of 30 days
Problem Statement When using a similar floor plan for two homes, the goal is not to make them identical to one another. Through design, we can show how two buildings can be similar through layout yet adapt to the environment through architecture.
Concept
When two elements are opposite yet interdependent to each other, it’s as if two worlds inosculate through use but are separate through identity. Inosculation is defined as when two or more things intertwine or fit closely together. In this case, the functionality of the homes are intertwined through culture and physical space in which the environment becomes an expression of that unity.
