RATP CENTRAL DE AUTOBUSES EN THIAIS, PARÍS. FRANCIA
La intención de la RATP (Empresa Pública de Transportes Parisinos) era la creación de un nuevo edificio destinado a los conductores de autobuses y el personal administrativo del centro ya existente. Situado en Thiais, desde este se controlan todas las líneas de autobuses del sur y del este de la ciudad de París. Es un contexto industrial, caracterizado por una sucesión de cajas. El edificio concentra una gran cantidad de particularidades y muchos elementos representativos. El centro tiene una capacidad para 300 autobuses. 800 conductores de autobús delante del edificio todos los días, más el personal administrativo que gestiona el centro. Es un edificio de flujos. El plan ha ido evolucionando durante la fase de estudio, el trabajo todavía está “en movimiento”, por lo que no hay una pantalla estructural o funcional predeterminada del edificio. Aparte del edificio administrativo, el programa incluyó la realización de un nuevo puesto de control del centro y un refugio para bicicletas.
The RATP wished to realize a new building intended for the bus drivers and the administrative staff of the existing center. Located in Thiais, it controls all the bus lines of the south and the east of Paris City. It’s an industrial context, characterised by a succession of boxes, at best basic. The building concentrates lots of specificities and lots of representatives. The centre accommodates 300 buses. 800 bus drivers forward trough the building every day, plus the administrative staffs which manages the centre. It’s a flux building. The plan has been in evolution during all the studies, the work and is still “moving”, so there is no pre-determined structural or functional screen on the building. Aside the administrative building, the program included the realization of a new checkpoint of the centre and a bikes shelter.

Hemos reducido el lugar a un parque de autobuses, una gran losa de hormigón monolítico, un territorio uniforme compuesto por un único material. El edificio comienza con la deformación del suelo, la distorsión de la losa de hormigón existente, y continúa con un material aparentemente similar, Ductal ®, hormigón también, pero con una deslumbrante lámina de hormigón que responde a demandas muy sofisticadas: informalidad de la estructura, constante evolución de los planos, la desmaterialización, la precisión, la densidad, la homogeneidad de aspecto de acuerdo con el molde diseñado.
We reduced the site to a bus park, a vast monolithic concrete slab, uniformed territory composed of one sole material. The building starts with the deformation of the ground, the distortion of the existing concrete slab, and continues it with an apparently similar material Ductal ®, still concrete but a dazzling sheet of concrete, which responds to very sophisticated demands: informality of the structure, constant evolution of the plans, dematerialization, precision, density, homogeneity of aspect according to the mould designed.

Se garantiza la continuidad del suelo de la carretera, en la piel de las fachadas, los falsos techos y la terraza en la azotea sin ningún tipo de ruptura. Combinado con las cualidades estructurales del material, el edificio no tiene ni principio ni fin. Se trata de una continuidad de una superficie de la cual podemos, en función del objetivo, no controlar los límites. Es un punto de inflexión de una losa que se extiende en todo el sitio. El edificio se presenta como un monolito con los bordes redondeados, pulidos de alguna manera. Se caracteriza por una densa planta cuadrada (35 m x 35 m), desarrollada en 2 niveles, como un edificio denso, sordo, inerte, y enigmático como “el casco de un submarino ruso en las aguas de Murmansk”.
It ensures a continuity of the ground from the road, to the skin of the façades, the suspended ceilings and the terrace rooftop without any rupture. Combined with the structural qualities of the material, the building has neither a beginning nor an end. It is a continuity of a surface of which we can, depending on what you aim at, not control the limits. It is an inflection of a slab which spreads on the whole site. The building appears like a monolith with rounded edges, polished somehow. Characterized by a dense square plan (35 m x 35 m) developed on 2 levels, it presents itself as a dense building, inert, deaf, and enigmatic as “the hull of a Russian submarine in the waters of Murmansk”.

Los juegos de texturas se consiguen gracias a la flexibilidad del material y su capacidad para ser moldeado con precisión. La calidad del acabado y el rigor de Ductal ®, contribuyen garantizando la precisión y las continuas y perfectas conexiones de la piel de hormigón. La piel: 3 cm de espesor, muestra una textura única de puntos en relieve, como un juego de “LEGO”. Las “ventanas” están divididas con una cuchilla de corte: unas incisiones quirúrgicas en la generación de volúmenes negativos que revelan los espejos de colores bajo la fina capa de hormigón. Tratada con puntos brillantes planteados, el cromatismo de los productos de vidrio se inspira en las fachadas cortina de paredes tintadas de los edificios de oficinas que bordean la carretera principal.
The texture games are facilitated by the flexibility of the material and its ability to be molded with precision. The quality of finish and rigor of Ductal ® contribute to ensuring this concrete skin, accurate, continuous, perfect connections. The skin: 3 cm thick displays a single texture of dots in relief like a game of “LEGO”. The “windows” are cut with a cutter blade: surgical incisions generating volumes in negative which reveal colored mirrors under the thin crust of concrete. Treated with silver mirror dots, chromatics of the glass products are inspired by the tinted curtain wall frontages of the office buildings which border the main road.
