SUMMARY: The Auburn-Washburn Foundation promotes all aspects of the Auburn-Washburn School District. The Executive Director is responsible for leadership, management, and fund development for the Foundation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned A. Advise and collaborate with the Board of Directors to advance the mission, values and vision of the organization. B. Promote a culture that values collaboration and open communication between the Foundation and the District. C. Lead the development and implementation of Foundation’s short and long-range operational plans and objectives as agreed upon by the Board of Directors. D. Provide reports to the Foundation Board reflecting the financial status of the organization and the status of the endowment fund and investment yields. E. Responsible for Foundation achieving its financial objectives, including cost effectiveness and revenue generation targets. F. Create and lead the annual development plan to achieve revenue goals. G. Serve as liaison between Foundation, district, donors, and other community constituents, maintaining strong communication channels at all times to ensure services remain flexible and creative in response to community opportunities/ needs. H. Serve as chief spokesperson for Foundation and represent the organization in the community in an effective and professional manner. I. Be actively involved in the Shawnee County civic and business communities. J. Be actively involved in nonprofit professional organizations to stay abreast of best practices and national standards for foundations, specifically education foundations. K. Assure that Foundation remains in compliance with regulatory requirements and donor/grantor restrictions.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be self-directed and professional with high integrity and effective communication skills. B. Must be a motivated and experienced fundraiser, including major gifts, grant writing and planned giving. C. Must be able to develop and sustain strategic relationships with a variety of people, including donors, civic leaders, parents, students, educators, and district patrons. D. Experience in networking with people in a variety of settings. E. Must demonstrate understanding of and passion for public education. F. Understanding of and ability to produce financial reports. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: A. Minimum of Bachelor’s degree with three or more years of relevant experience in an organizational leadership role is preferred. Advanced degree in nonprofit management or similar field encouraged. B. Record of success in fundraising or public relations required. C. Demonstrated success and/or formal coursework in fund development preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS: A. Strong oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to articulate a clear and consistent message to multiple constituencies. B. Public speaking ability required. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: A. Strong organizational skills and leader. B. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. C. Experience in donor management software required. D. Experience with financial accounting software required. E. High attention to detail. F. Ability to work weekends, evenings, and/or early mornings as needed. G. Must have regular and reliable attendance. H. Must possess valid motor vehicle operator’s license and be able to provide own transportation to work sites.
