he Chamber’s annual Membership Gala will be held Jan. 20 at the Doyle Convention Center in Texas City, and you are invited! This event brings

together the business community and civic leaders to honor those who are dedicated to promoting progress and striving for success. The gala is a popular event with an average

NEW FACES AT THE CHAMBER Marielle Gomez Communications & Promotions Coordinator Marielle was born and raised in the Texas City area. She attended the University of Houston-Clear Lake and earned a bachelor’s degree in communication and a minor in art history. She specializes in graphic design and photography. Marielle previously worked for the City of Texas City and helped create promotional event flyers for the recreation department. She also works as a freelance artist, creating logos for small businesses and individuals and

Alyssa Jennings Small Business Support Coordinator

The Texas City-La Marque Chamber of Commerce welcomes Alyssa Jennings, who joined the Chamber staff as Small Business Support Coordinator. She is looking forward to building connections and assisting local small businesses expand their presence. Prior to joining the Chamber, Alyssa has spent the last seven years working as an administrative assistant, office manager and tax preparer. Alyssa was born and raised in League City

Lauren Novack

Office Manager & Administrative Assistant Lauren grew up on the Texas Gulf Coast and is now raising her family here. She has spent the last few years working in Galveston as a coastal zone management coordinator. Lauren has worked with several non-profit organizations, including Artist Boat, The Galveston Bay Foundation and Turtle Island Restoration Network. Most recently, Lauren hosted the Trash Talk Open House at the Galveston Island Convention Center to engage locals in how to see litter and debris handled along the beaches.

When not working, you can find Marielle reading, drawing, playing video games with her fiancé Charlie, going to movies with family and friends and spending time outdoors.

When not working, you can find Alyssa and her family exploring and making memories around the area. When she isn’t working, Lauren enjoys spending time with family at the beach, camping, hiking or anything outdoors. She is very excited about her new role at the Chamber and is looking forward to being able to do all she can to support local businesses and continue to give back to a community she loves so much.

T

he deadline is this week to apply for Leadership Mainland’s class of 2022! Get all the details on the Chamber website under “Resources” and then “News.” In the news release, you will find a link to the online application form. This program exists to develop and engage the leadership potential of men and women in the Texas City-La Marque community. Over the course of a year, participants experience a series of day-long sessions and tours on subjects such as city and county government, the

petrochemical industry, economic development, education, health care and the Port of Texas City. The sessions introduce them to key industry and civic leaders. The class is composed of about 25 people and is chaired by former graduates of the Leadership Mainland program. It is sponsored by the City of La Marque, the City of Texas City and Dow. 2022 UPCOMING SIGNATURE EVENTS

ach year the Texas City-La Marque Chamber hosts several Signature Events. To start the year off, the Chamber will hold the annual Membership Gala on Jan. 20. On April 26, the Industrial Trade Show will be held at the Doyle Convention Center with more than 80 vendors and hundreds of attendees. On May 19, there will be a Business Showcase for all categories of Chamber members! To say good-bye to summer, the community-

wide Shrimp Boil & Dance will be held Aug. 19. The annual Jimmy Hayley Golf Classic will be Sept. 28 and 29. Following close behind is the familyfriendly live music festival, Bayou Fest in La Marque on Oct. 15. the Texas City-La Marque Chamber. At this year’s gala, Georgia Meyer Barzilay of Karat Creations Jewelry will be honored for her service as the 2021 Chairman of the Board. Newly elected Chairman of the Board for 2022 Ron Assad of Gallant Builders will be installed along with other executive officers. Highlights of the evening will include a delicious dinner from Catering by Benno, a silent auction with excit-

ing sports memorabilia, tantalizing live entertainment and special awards presented to outstanding businesses and citizens. The Chamber Gala is always a favorite event of the year, and seating is expected to sell out. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Chamber or online at www. he Texas City-La Marque Chamber opens its doors during the holidays for members to join together and celebrate Christmas and to create long lasting relationships with other Chamber members.
