TCLM Chamber hires incoming president
The Board of Directors of the Texas City – La Marque Chamber of Commerce unanimously voted at the December Board meeting to name Tim Culp as the President/CEO of their organization. Marielle Mascorro, TC-LM Chamber Communications and Promotions Coordinator set down with Mr. Culp to ask a few questions about his experience and what he is looking forward to most.
Tell me about your previous chamber experience.
I have over 30 years of chamber experience, I
started off my chamber career in East Texas as the Executive Director at the Crockett Area Chamber of Commerce. I also served as the Executive Director for the Crockett Economic Development Corporation which was a 4A Sales Tax Corporation. After this I served as the President/CEO at the Deer Park Chamber of Commerce. I also served on the Texas Association of Business Board of Directors, the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives (TCCE) and I am a lifetime member of the Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce Executives (GCCE).
What brought you to the TCLM Chamber of Commerce?
This chamber is one of the premier chambers in the State of Texas and to have the opportunity to work for this organization is what brought me here. Knowing the respect that this chamber has around the state, because of the legacy that it has, is the reason why I wanted to be here and why I am happy that I have been given this opportunity.
What are some goals you would like to accomplish in the community?
With the great rep-
utation that the Texas City-La Marque Chamber has, the first thing that you want to accomplish is to not mess anything up and keep the heritage in place! I will work with our membership and the board of directors to explore new objectives and opportunities. My goal is to add value to the services we provide and to ensure we are meeting the needs for our membership. If we are doing that, we are accomplishing the overall mission of the chamber.
What event are you most looking forward to? Why?
Well, when you have one of the largest golf tournaments in the State of Texas, everyone wants to be a part of it. With it being a signature golf tournament chambers throughout the country call to ask the TCLM Chamber how we do what we do. I am excited to work behind the scenes on this event with
the committee and staff.
Is there anything you want the community to know about you?
I want the community to know that I am here to stay. I am excited about being here, meeting and working with everyone. I am dedicated to this job, to the members and to the
area. People are going to see me at sporting events, events sponsored by our members, Rotary Club and outside of those hosted by the TCLM Chamber. I believe that being an effective chamber executive you must be immersed in the community.

The Texas City-La Marque Chamber’s Leadership Mainland program will be accepting applications for the 2023 class in January.
The mission of Leadership Mainland is to develop, energize and engage the leadership potential of men and women in the mainland communities.
Over the course of a year, members of Leadership Mainland participate in day-long sessions once a month that focus on a variety of topics, such as government, health care, education, economic development, petrochemical industry, social services and more. VIP tours are given by local government and business leaders, and team-building activities bond class members together.
The program runs from January to December. Each year’s class is composed of about 20 people and is led by former graduates of Leadership Mainland.
Applications are submitted, and, upon enrollment, a $950 enrollment fee entitles participants to local and out of town transportation, meals, lodging for two overnight trips and graduation plaque.

WELCOME NEW CHAMBER BOARD MEMBERS
Why are you a member of the TCLM Chamber of Commerce?
Lori Carnes Carnes Funeral Home
There is nothing better than being a cheerleader for the community you live in!
I enjoy being a part of the Chamber Board because you get to work with others that are like minded. Meeting and working with other business owners to create a better community is beneficial to all. I am excited to be a part of the 2023 Board of Directors!
I have long standing roots in the community here in the TCLM area and want to see the economic and community development continue to grow in a positive direction. I am interested in the knowledge and experience it will provide me, and I really want to help provide anything that I can to help the mission of the TCLM chamber and the communities that the chamber serves.
Andrew Warren Ashland
I am a member of the chamber of commerce because I enjoy learning more about the city and the different industries that help it run. Being involved in the chamber allows me to understand how my actions and decisions impact the community and how I can help grow the area.
Lisa Cashbaugh-Sanchez Dow Chemical
It is important to me to identify, support, and drive positive change within our communities to better integrate work and life. I believe it is my responsibility as a leader to not only serve those within my own plant, but within the broader Texas City area. Being a member of the Chamber is an excellent way to better understand and support the opportunities we have within our community to make it a great place to live and work.
Devries Standard Steel Supply
I’ve always believed that the Chamber performs an invaluable service to our communities by highlighting the importance of the businesses – both large and small – and the benefits to all of our citizens of local business. The Chamber constantly offers opportunities for its members to network with all aspects of our local economy, and also advocates for initiatives which enhance the business climate here. This also includes supporting non-profit service organizations, education, and many other aspects critical to the success of all the stakeholders in the Texas City-La Marque area.
It’s good for me, and it’s good for Linde. When I was a small business owner years ago in Tampa, I found involvement in the community very personally rewarding. I joined Linde in 2019 and am excited that community is a core value of the company. Linde is committed to improving the communities where it operates. I’m glad I can be a part of the effort.
Adam Wheeless Gallant Builders
I wanted to become a Chamber member because it’s the best investment I could make within the Community, hands-down! I’m excited to be part of such a wonderful team.

BUSINESS OF THE MONTH
Patterson Plumbing Company
1522 Texas Avenue, Texas City 409-945-6481
Patterson Plumbing is a fourth-generation, family-owned business and is celebrating its 100th anniversary.
The company started in 1923 by Harold Patterson Senior and was taken over by his sons Robert and Harold Jr. (“Bud”) Patterson. Bud’s sons, Denny and Kenny Patterson, eventually succeeded the business from Bob and Bud. Their brother, Rick Patterson, was also a plumber at Patterson Plumbing. All four generations of Pattersons had the pleasure of working with Tom Lockett. Kenny’s son, Brent Patterson, began working with his dad and his
uncle Denny as an apprentice and subsequently became a Master Plumber, in February 2005. Brent became co-owner of the shop with his dad. Kenny, Brent and Lucas Vargas are the current plumbers at the shop, and Brent’s wife, Charlene Patterson, is the office manager and bookkeeper.
Patterson Plumbing performs Industrial Plumbing, Commercial Plumbing and Backflow Testing.
Patterson Plumbing is a long-time dedicated supporter of the Chamber of Commerce and many community events. Kudos to this Business of the Month.
