Growth in Brevard County EDC Announces RUAG’s Selection of North Brevard International technology company selects Titusville to strengthen its U.S. presence Brevard County FL (November 29, 2016) – Today, the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (EDC) announced RUAG’s selection of Brevard County for its RUAG Space USA Inc. production facility in Titusville. RUAG Space USA Inc., a supplier of spacecraft structural and thermal equipment, will operate at the Port Canaveral Titusville Logistic Center. “The aerospace industry is undergoing a disruptive transformation,” explains Peter Guggenbach, CEO of RUAG Space USA Inc. “In what’s known as the new space segment, innovative start-ups and private investors are developing new commercial business models for aerospace applications. We want to be a competitive player in this segment too. The current order from Airbus OneWeb Satellites proves that we’re on the right path,” he says. The EDC worked closely with RUAG to communicate the competitive advantages of a Brevard County location by presenting the best business case and meeting significant requirements. In addition, the EDC guided the company through the State and North Brevard Economic Development Zone incentive programs. “RUAG Space USA Inc. is a leading supplier of space products within the European space market,” stated Lynda Weatherman, president and CEO of the EDC of Florida’s Space Coast. “Competition across the space industry breeds excellence and RUAG’s selection of Titusville for their U.S. production facility, further strengthens Brevard County’s standing as a premier location for aerospace businesses throughout the world.” “RUAG Space USA Inc. is a strong addition to Florida’s aerospace industry and we welcome them and their global expertise to the Space Coast,” said Enterprise Florida Executive Vice President, Mike Grissom. “Florida is a pioneering state for aerospace and continues to be the home of innovation for the industry, thanks to the more than 85,000 Floridians who work in the industry.” “Space Florida is excited to welcome RUAG to the State of Florida and Brevard County,” said Frank DiBello, president and CEO of Space Florida. “Our state’s iconic space legacy is ever-expanding as RUAG will play a key role within a growing supply chain for the aerospace and satellite industry here in Florida. We look forward to being a partner in RUAG’s success, and continuing to work with the community on Florida’s Space Coast to further solidify Florida as a world leader in aerospace.” “The transformation happening in North Brevard is because of the vision and mission of the North Brevard Economic Development Zone and the partnership with the EDC,” stated Robert Jordan, secretary, North Brevard Economic Development Zone. “The goal of NBEDZ is to ensure North Brevard maintains economic sustainability for years to come. Our regional strength has been demonstrated in just two years capturing over 1,200 jobs with an average annual wage of $62,000 and $300M in capital investments from a broad base of industries and services.” “The North Brevard area is filled with opportunity for businesses looking to expand and relocate here,” stated Commissioner Rita Pritchett. “I look forward to maintaining the level of success the NBEDZ has had to establish North Brevard as a pro-business friendly region throughout the nation.” RUAG Space USA Inc. plans to start manufacturing the satellite structures early next year.

Growth contd. OneWeb Satellites Selects Florida’s Space Coast for Manufacturing Operations Small satellites will support affordable internet connections across the world. Brevard County, Fla. (April 19, 2016) – The Economic Development Commission (EDC) of Florida’s Space Coast is pleased to announce that OneWeb Satellites, a company working to create satellite based communications network capable of delivering internet connectivity globally, will be locating a 100,000 square feet satellite manufacturing facility on Florida’s Space Coast at Exploration Park just south of Kennedy Space Center. OneWeb Satellites, founded by technology entrepreneur and former Google executive Greg Wyler, will design, build and launch an extensive network of small, low earth orbit satellites that will enable the delivery of internet services to every corner of the Earth at a low cost. These satellites will be manufactured at the Space Coast facility and will be mass produced utilizing fewer components making them lighter and easier to launch. Brian Holz, CEO of OneWeb Satellites said: “I’m really pleased that we have selected Florida for our new manufacturing, assembly and test operations facility. In addition to the factory development, Space Florida has also offered significant investment in our test equipment. We anticipate many of our suppliers to locate nearby given the unique nature of our operations and the pro-business climate offered by Florida. The facility will be a big part of our ability to lower satellite costs and speedily move forward and together with Airbus Defense and Space to grow the business long term. It will directly benefit OneWeb’s customers.” The EDC of Florida’s Space Coast worked diligently with Space Florida, Enterprise Florida, Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), Brevard County and the North Brevard Economic Development Zone for over a year on this highly competitive project. This included extensive research, serving as regional economic liaison and managing all aspects of the proposal to ensure the best business case was demonstrated. “Once again Brevard County is chosen to manufacture an innovative product unique to the aerospace industry, demonstrating our position as a leader in capturing the next generation of space related activities,” stated Lynda Weatherman, president and chief executive officer, Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast. OneWeb Satellites, which also opened an office in Washington DC earlier this year, searched notable sites worldwide. In the U.S., the state of Alabama was considered as a potential location, and internationally, Canada and France also vied for the company’s corporate investment. Frank DiBello, president and chief executive officer of Space Florida said: “The announcement of OneWeb’s presence here at Exploration Park is one that perfectly aligns with Space Florida’s vision of the Cape Canaveral Spaceport and Florida as the world’s leading space commerce center. Our ever-expanding commercial space industry at the Cape Canaveral Spaceport will now be home to the most advanced satellite manufacturing capability in the world, and Space Florida looks forward to OneWeb Satellite’s success.” The company plans to make a capital investment of nearly $85 million and projects the creation of 250 high tech manufacturing and engineering jobs with an average wage of $65,579 within five years. The annual projected economic impact is estimated to be in excess of $36 million upon project completion. “In just a few short years, Brevard County has achieved what many others have not; achieving major economic growth after a major economic downturn” said Brevard County Board of County Commissioners Chairman Jim Barfield. “The shutdown of the Shuttle program with the cancellation of the Constellation program forced us to create our own future; bringing manufacturing, aerospace, and aviation companies like Embraer and others here. Coupled with Brevard County’s excellent quality of life, tourism, and education system we are positioned well as we work together to keep the momentum going.”

Growth contd. Thales Selects Brevard County to Expand Operations Company projecting to increase its workforce locally by 175% in the next four years

Brevard County, FL (July 11, 2016) – Earlier this morning during the Farnborough International Air Show in London, Governor Rick Scott announced that Thales has chosen to expand its Melbourne operation. The company expansion will add 327 high-tech positions by 2020 with plans to develop a 100,000 SF facility to support advancement of innovative technology and solutions world-wide. Governor Rick Scott said, “I am proud to announce that Thales chose Florida to expand and create 500 new jobs for Florida families. We met with Thales at the Paris Air Show last year and it’s great to make this exciting announcement today in London. I look forward to seeing their continued success in our state.” Thales is a global company focusing on strategic technological support, critical to service and protect civil and military customers. The company has over 20 locations nationwide and operates in 56 countries. The expansion will also include 173 new jobs to be based in Orlando, Florida. “Thanks to the leadership of Governor Scott and other state and local officials, we are pleased to be able to further expand our competitive footprint in Florida. The state’s pro-business agenda is helping to enable our targeted growth,” said Alan Pellegrini, President and CEO, Thales USA. The selection of Brevard County was the result of multiple strengths our location offered, including our engineering and high tech resources. Through the selection process the project locally was known as Project Miletus. The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (EDC), Enterprise Florida (EFI) and the City of Melbourne worked diligently to secure this highly competitive project, which included Thales’ California facility as a viable option. “Competition for these projects is becoming more intense, placing a stronger emphasis on strategic collaboration,” stated Lynda Weatherman, president and CEO of the EDC of Florida’s Space Coast. “It is because of our longstanding relationship with EFI and the City of Melbourne that enabled us to broaden Thales’ international footprint into our community.” For decades, the Farnborough International Air Show (FIA) has been a global showcase for the aerospace industry. For manufacturers, it’s an opportunity to demonstrate their aircraft and engines to prospective customers; while for suppliers, this forum allows them to showcase their products and services to a targeted audience. For Florida, the air show provides the platform to showcase the strength of its aviation and aerospace industry.
