Dear Horned Frog Fans: The 2010-11 TCU athletics season is one that provided us a memory of a lifetime. It wasn’t just our Rose Bowl champion football program but also the incredible support we received from an unbelievable alumni and fan base. Thanks to you, our supporters, season-ticket holders, alumni, students, faculty, staff and fans, it was a record-breaking year on so many levels for us off the field. The incredible support of Chancellor Victor Boschini and a tremendous Board of Trustees, as well as the unbelievable efforts of TCU associate athletics director Davis Babb, our Frog Club staff, football coach Gary Patterson and others allowed us to generate the necessary funds for the renovation of Amon G. Carter Stadium. At press time, we had raised $143 million from 95 donors, surpassing our original goal of $105 million. Our Frog Club exceeded $5 million in donations and 5,000 members for the first time. We became just the second nonautomatic qualifying school to top $1 million in licensing revenues. We broke season ticket and attendance figures in football, baseball, soccer, volleyball, tennis and track and field. Through the leadership of Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief, Fridays in our city became Go Purple Fridays! The city became painted in purple. It was cool and fashionable to follow the Horned Frogs. Quite simply, you enabled us to succeed, and we thank you for that. In front of the largest television audience in ESPN and cable TV history, excluding the NFL, our football program captivated the nation with its dramatic Rose Bowl win over Wisconsin. It was an incredible stage to be on, and our student-athletes came through with a performance that made the TCU community proud. On Nov. 13, we said goodbye to an old friend as the final game was played in Amon G. Carter Stadium as we knew it. A few weeks later, on Dec. 5, we became the first team in the history of college football to implode its stadium and accept a Rose Bowl invitation on the same day. In addition to football, we won conference titles in baseball and women’s golf. Overall, it was another successful year for our athletics program. Twelve of our 20 sports were represented in postseason play with 11 teams nationally ranked. Among our many All-Americans, we had a national award winner in football’s Jake Kirkpatrick, who captured the Rimington Trophy as the best center in the country. The postseason honors extended to our terrific coaching staff. Karen Monez was selected as the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association Coach of the Year, giving us three National Coach of the Year awards in the last two seasons. In addition to Amon G. Carter Stadium’s renovation, other facility improvements included a new weight room and the upper deck expansion of Lupton Stadium. Academically, our student-athletes continued to shine in the classroom and represent us well in the campus community. Our cumulative grade-point average was just under a 3.0 with four student-athletes graduating Phi Beta Kappa. The past year also saw us set our course for the future with the announcement that we accepted an invitation to join the BIG EAST Conference in all sports effective with the 2012-13 campaign. Senior Festus Kigen was named South Central Region Athlete of the Year after winning the regional meet. Kigen represented TCU at the NCAA Cross Country Championship race, finishing 85th out of 246 competitors. The men finished sixth at the MWC Championships, while the women were ninth overall. Both programs were ranked in the South Central Region. The men held their ranking throughout the season. Sophomores Agnes Kemboi and Alex De La Garza swept the individual titles at the UTA Season Opener, as the women’s team won the meet and the men earned runner-up honors. Kemboi also enjoyed top-10 finishes at the Bear Twilight Invitational, Chile Pepper Festival and Cowboy Jamboree. The women’s team claimed second-place distinction at the Bear Twilight Invitational. The men earned a NCAA Public Recognition Award for the third-consecutive year. TCU had 13 athletes named to the All-Mountain West Conference Academic team.

Closed the season ranked second in both the Associated Press and USA Today final polls, its third-straight year in the top 10 and fourth in the last six seasons. Won the Rose Bowl with a 21-19 victory over No. 5 Wisconsin. Season highlights also included a 47-7 win at Utah and a 45-10 victory over Baylor. Became the first school from a non-automatic qualifying conference to make back-to-back BCS appearances (2010 Fiesta Bowl, 2011 Rose Bowl) as well as becoming the first school from a non-AQ league to play in and win the Rose Bowl. Captured its second-straight Mountain West Conference championship and third in six years. Posted a 13-0 record for its second undefeated season in program history while also setting a single-season TCU win record. Sold out three home games en route to establishing new TCU marks for season tickets and attendance. Seniors recorded 44 wins in their career to set a win record for a class for the third-straight season. Led the nation in total defense for a third-straight year. Eight players received All-America honors, including five first-team selections.

Irene Hester and Christy Hudson were tabbed All-Mountain West Conference. • Christy Hudson became the first Horned Frog since Dominika Szabo in 2002, 2003 and 2004 to earn three all-conference nods in her career. • Hudson also set a school record with two triple-doubles in one season. • The Frogs produced three triple-doubles in 2010, matching their total from the first 14 years of the program. • Four Horned Frogs combined to produce 46 double-doubles on the season, including a team-high 15 from Meghan Horio. • TCU averaged a school-record 1,319 fans. • In total, 21,097 fans attended TCU volleyball matches in 2010, a total that ranked 24th nationally. • Irene Hester led the league in kills per set (3.77) and points per set (4.37), while ranking second in aces per set (0.38). • She was the lone player in the league to rack up 400 kills, finishing the season with 403 kills. • Kristen Hester led the team in blocks with 100 total (18 solo, 82 assists). She has reached the 100 block mark each of the last two seasons.

The Frogs led the Mountain West Conference in six different offensive categories. Jordan Calhoun was a first-team AllMountain West selection. Calhoun became TCU’s all-time leader in goals scored for a career with 29 goals and also moved into No. 2 all-time in points for a career with 69 points. Senior Jackie Torda and Calhoun were named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team. The Purple and White led all TCU fall sports with 15 players on the All-MWC Academic Team. Earned fifth-straight Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). TCU opened the doors to the Jane Justin Field House. Newcomer Kristen Barg was recognized on Top Drawer Soccer’s Top-100 Freshman to Watch list. TCU ranked eighth nationally in attendance with an average of 1,509 fans per home match. Goalkeeper Kelsey Walters started her professional career in Iceland.

TCU reached the second round of the Conoco Mountain West Conference Championships following an opening victory over No. 8 seed Wyoming. Junior guard Hank Thorns was named Third-Team All-Mountain West Conference after leading league in both assists average and assist/turnover ratio. He finished the season ranked No. 4 and No. 13 nationally in the respective categories. Thorns’ 225 assists marked the No. 3 total in TCU single-season history and No. 2 in the history of the Mountain West Conference. Sophomore forward Garlon Green led TCU in scoring average (11.2 ppg) and fell just one trey shy of leading the MWC in 3-point field-goal percentage (47.6 percent). Freshman forward Amric Fields ranked No. 3 among all MWC freshmen in scoring and rebounding. The Frogs went 4-1 against opponents from the state of Texas. Among TCU’s victories was an 81-69 home win in November over eventual NCAA Tournament qualifier USC. The Frogs also picked up an 81-77 road win at Texas Tech and an 84-64 home decision against Metroplex rival SMU. TCU tied a school record previously set in 1982-83 by playing five games against top-10 ranked teams. The Feb. 19 home matchup with No. 7 BYU featured an attendance of 7,258, which marked the third-largest crowd in the 40-year history of Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. TCU graduated two seniors in forward Nikola Gacesa and guard Greg Hill.

The women’s team posted the highest finish in program history at the NCAA Championships, tying Southern Miss for 13th place, totaling a program-best 15 points. Senior Jessica Young earned All-America honors after garnering NCAA silver in the women’s 60-meter dash. Young’s time of 7.17 was a new school record. The women’s 4x400 quartet consisting of Quinterra Charles, Kristal Juarez, Teneshia Peart and Young collected fifth place overall and All-America status at the NCAA meet with a school-record time. Junior Whitney Gipson also earned All-America recognition after soaring to sixth place in the women’s long jump. TCU collected eight gold medals at the 2011 Mountain West Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. Young highlighted the conference meet by receiving the High Point Award and the Outstanding Female Performance Award. Sophomores Cameron Tabor and Kelsey Samuels set new TCU records for the men’s and women’s weight throw. The Frogs had 17 student-athletes named to the MWC Indoor Track and Field team. The men earned a Public Recognition Award for scoring in the top-10 percent of the sport with their academic progress rates (APR).

• Finished third at the NCAA Championships. • Took home fourth place in Smallbore and third in Air Rifle. • Sarah Scherer finished fourth individually in Air Rifle and Caitlin Morrissey finished sixth individually in smallbore. • The Horned Frogs went undefeated in the regular season, winning all 13 of their matches. • Karen Monez was named the CRCA Coach of the Year. • Four Frogs (Sarah Beard, Mattie Brogdon, Caitlin Morrissey and Sarah Scherer) were tabbed All-Americans. • Those four along with Catherine Green earned Academic All-America honors. • Scherer was twice named USA Shooting’s ELEY Athlete of the Month. • Scherer and Beard competed at numerous international competitions. • Scherer took home a gold medal in South Korea to help the USA team earn a quota spot for the 2012 Olympics.

The Horned Frogs finished the year with a 22-11 overall record, marking the fifth-straight year of 20+ wins. TCU played in the WNIT, marking the 11th-straight year in which the Frogs have played in postseason. Helena Sverrisdottir and Emily Carter were named All-MWC First Team. Starr Crawford earned All-MWC Second Team accolades as well as alldefensive team honors. Carter led the NCAA with the No. 1 scoring output in the entire nation, a 43-point outburst against SMU. Carter made 60-straight free throws to open the year, which moved her into the top 5 all-time in consecutive free throws made in NCAA history. Carter finished the season ranked No. 40 in the nation in scoring and No. 17 in the NCAA in free throw percentage. Sverrisdottir recorded only the third triple-double in program history during her final game against Oral Roberts in the first round of the WNIT. The Frogs made the MWC Tournament finals for the first time in program history by defeating New Mexico in the semifinals. Crawford led the MWC in rebounding overall and offensive rebounding. Sverrisdottir signed with Slovakia Kosice Good Angels of FIBA Europe following the season.

The Horned Frogs set 24 program records in 2010-11. Edgar Crespo qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 100-breastroke and 200-breaststroke. Sabine Rasch earned MWC gold in the women’s 100-freestyle. The TCU women snapped every TCU relay record at the MWC Championships. TCU had 21 athletes recognized with All-MWC considerations. The Frogs had 28 All-MWC overall selections between the individuals and relay teams. Overall, TCU registered 22 NCAA “B” cut times in 2010-2011. Both squads claimed Scholar All-America recognition from the CSCAA.

TCU advanced to the NCAA Regional Championships for the 22nd consecutive season when it was selected for the NCAA Colorado Regional in Erie, Colo. The squad finished sixth at the tournament, falling only one stroke short of forcing a playoff for the last spot to the NCAA Championships. Head Coach Bill Montigel’s squad is one of only four teams nationally to qualify for regionals each of the last 22 years with the same head coach. The Frogs finished runner-up at the Mountain West Conference Championships, only two strokes behind first-time champion San Diego State. The squad finished among the top 10 in 10 of 12 tournaments with six top-five placings. TCU won the Navy Spring Invitational in Annapolis, Md., in midApril, running away from the 19-team field by an 11-stroke margin. Senior Tom Hoge earned medalist honors at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin, Texas. Hoge recorded five top-10 individual finishes overall during the spring campaign, as did junior Johan de Beer. Both Hoge and de Beer were named All-MWC. Hoge was a first-time selection, while de Beer received his league-leading third nod. De Beer led the Frogs in individual stroke average with a figure of 73.12.

Hosted the NCAA Regional for the third-straight season, becoming one of just six schools to host the last three years. One of just 13 schools to play in the last eight NCAA tournaments. Set a school-record in attendance and ranked 10th nationally after averaging 4,148 fans per game. Won 40 games for the sixth time in school history and the fourth-consecutive season. Ten members of the team earned all-conference accolades. The Horned Frogs won their sixth-straight regular season crown with a 20-3 record in league play. Kyle Winkler was named third-team All-American. Stefan Crichton and Andrew Mitchell were tabbed Freshmen All-Americans. Jim Schlossnagle was named MWC Coach of the Year for the sixth-consecutive year. TCU had a school-record eight players drafted in the MLB draft.

Won the Mountain West Conference championship for the second time in five years, rallying from a three-stroke final-round deficit. TCU’s 1-over-par 865 at the MWC Championships marked its second-best tournament score in program history. Made its 16th-consecutive NCAA postseason appearance. Also won the Alamo Invitational in November in San Antonio. Recorded two tournament titles in the same season for the first time since 199798. Angie Ravaioli-Larkin was named MWC Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Brooke Beeler captured medalist honors at the Alamo Invitational. TCU won a team title and had an individual champion at the same tournament for the first time since 2003. Sanna Nuutinen became TCU’s first conference freshman of the year since 2001. Had three all-conference selections to lead the MWC in that category for the third straight season.

Former TCU All-American David Roditi was named TCU’s head coach on Sept. 7, 2010. The Frogs tallied 4,692 fans in 12 home matches to rank fifth overall in the country in total attendance. Reached the Mountain West Conference Championship finals for the third-straight season. The senior doubles tandem of Emanuel Brighiu and Christopher Price ended the season ranked No. 52, while Brighiu was listed at No. 72 in singles nationally. Brighiu and Price were both named named to the All-MWC Singles team, while joining forces as a All-MWC Doubles tandem. Junior Daniel Sanchez paced the team with a 15-6 singles record during the spring. The Frogs ended the year ranked No. 51 as a team, finishing the season with a final ranking for the 14th-straight time. TCU earned a Public Recognition Award for scoring in the top-10 percent of the sport with their academic progress rates (APR). Senior Cameron Nash was one of 41 graduating seniors to be inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honors society.

Advanced to the championship match of the MWC Women’s Tennis Championship for the fourth-straight year. Knocked off top-seeded UNLV at the MWC Championship to advance to the championship match. Katariina Tuohimaa was All-MWC in singles and doubles for fourth-straight year. Tuohimaa went 7-1 against conference opponents from the No. 1 spot. Tallied an overall record of 13-11 and won six of last seven matches. Maria Babanova and Gaby Mastromarino named All-MWC. Knocked off three ranked opponents and were undefeated against unranked opponents. Tuohimaa and Federica Denti ranked as high as No. 52 in doubles.

The Horned Frogs went 5-1 at the friendly confines of October Hill Farms during the regular season. For a fifth-straight year, the Horned Frogs competed at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships. Courtney Chown made program history, earning the program’s first ever Varsity Equestrian All-America accolade in Horsemanship. Ashley Aikman and Callie Selchau both garnered honorable mention AllAmerica honors. Aikman was an honorable mention selection in Horsemanship, while Selchau earned the accolade in Equitation on the Flat. Chown went undefeated during the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record in Horsemanship. The Frogs were ranked in the top 10 nationally for the entire year, and as high as No. 5. The No. 9 seeded Hunt Seat team defeated Kansas State while the No. 6 seeded Western squad downed Fresno State on the opening day of nationals. By being seeded No. 9 overall at nationals, the Hunt Seat team earned the program’s highest national seeding ever on the English side.

The TCU women tied Miami (Fla.) for 27th place at the NCAA Championships, marking the fourth top-30 finish in program history and second top30 performance under head coach Darryl Anderson. Senior Jessica Young ran away with third-place honors in the women’s 100 meters at the national meet, collecting her seventh career All-America nod. Junior Whitney Gipson flew to fourth-place overall in the women’s long jump, recording the best finish by a Frog in that event and claiming her fourth All-American honor. Gipson was also a standout at the historic Penn Relays, breaking the meet record and Franklin Field record in the women’s long jump with a windaided mark of 21-11 ½ feet. Sophomore Charles Silmon advanced to the NCAA Championships weekend and claimed a pair of All-American honors in the 100- and 200-meters. TCU garnered nine gold medals at the 2011 Mountain West Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Fort Collins, Colo. Silmon headlined the conference meet by earning the Outstanding Male Performance Award. Senior Jordan Pitts collected MWC gold in the men’s 110-hurdles for the fourth straight season. The men earned a Public Recognition Award for scoring in the top-10 percent of the sport with their academic progress rates (APR).

2010-11 HIGHLIGHTS •

TCU student-athletes finished the fall 2010 semester with a cumulative grade point average of 2.963. Following the spring 2011 semester, the department’s cumulative GPA improved to 2.974.

•

Following the 2010-2011 academic year, 15 of TCU’s 20 athletic programs carried cumulative grade point averages above a 3.00.

•

In the 2010-2011 academic year, TCU landed 115 student-athletes on the fall and spring Academic All-Mountain West Conference squads.

•

Eighty-five TCU student-athletes (35 in fall 2010 and 50 in spring 2011) graduated in the 2010-2011 academic year.

•

Three former TCU student-athletes were named as recipients of the NCAA Degree Completion Award for 2010-2011.

•

In spring 2011, four TCU studentathletes were inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, a very prestigious national honorary society that recognizes academic excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. These studentathletes are Melissa Loh (Women’s Golf), Andrew McDonald (Men’s Track and Field), Cameron Nash (Men’s Tennis), and Eric Senseman (Men’s Track and Field).

•

In 2010-2011, Trevor Woods (Men’s Swimming and Diving) and Cameron Nash (Men’s Tennis) were two of four TCU students honored as Clark Scholars by the TCU Clark Society. Clark Scholars are nominated by TCU faculty members who feel the student would “represent the University with the highest degree of character, leadership and sense of service.”

•

The football team that represented TCU in the 2011 Rose Bowl had 17 graduates playing that game. Five played the 2010 season as graduate students while twelve players earned their degree in December.

•

Men’s Cross Country, Men’s Indoor Track, Men’s Outdoor Track and Men’s Tennis earned NCAA Academic Progress Rate Public Recognition Awards in the 2010-2011 academic year. Only the top ten percent of programs earn this award that recognizes academic excellence.

IN THE COMMUNITY

2010-11 HIGHLIGHTS •

TCU student-athletes and SuperFrog visited Fort Worth elementary schools in both the fall and spring semesters for the “SuperFrog Reading Challenge” program, encouraging students to improve their reading skills. More than 5,000 students from grades 3-5 participated in the program that provides incentives, such as tickets to TCU athletics events.

•

Women’s basketball teamed up with Neighbor Helping Neighbor to deliver gifts and TCU goodie bags to families and elderly throughout the Metroplex during the holidays.

•

Several TCU teams raised awareness for Project Purple – an initiative that allows needy children the opportunity to attend Horned Frog home events.

•

Members of the TCU track and field women’s team visited Cook Children’s Hospital, reading books and playing board games with the young patients.

•

Student-athletes from multiple teams spent time working at the Tarrant County Food Bank, working to eliminate hunger in Fort Worth and surrounding counties by providing food, education and other resources to hunger-relief charities and their communities.

•

Many TCU teams helped spread awareness for the Susan G. Komen Foundation by adding pink to the uniforms and donating funds from shirt sales to the cause. The baseball team dedicated the entire 2011 season to fighting breast cancer, boasting the team motto “We Fight Back”.

Rose Bowl Pep Rally

Thousands of TCU fans spilled into the streets surrounding LA Live in downtown Los Angeles for a pep rally before the 97th Rose Bowl. Brian Estridge, “The Voice of the Frogs,” and TCU radio color analyst John Denton served as emcees for the event, which featured the TCU band, cheerleaders and Showgirls. TCU chancellor Victor J. Boschini Jr., director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte and former Frog offensive lineman Victor Payne also took the stage.

Nike TCU and Nike, the world’s most recognizable symbol in athletic apparel, have become synonymous with each other. TCU is one of just five schools to be involved in Nike’s Pro Combat Uniform series each of the last two seasons and one of just 12 programs to be chosen by Nike for its product testing. In 2011, the Horned Frogs will be adding to their game-day attire options with a new helmet and set of uniforms. Nike was instrumental in over $20 million in retail TCU merchandise sold worldwide over the last year, providing a record $1 million in licensing revenues.

Live Chats & Social Media TCU introduced a series of live chats to GoFrogs.com, providing fans worldwide with the opportunity to have their questions answered directly by Horned Frog student-athletes, coaches and administrators. The sessions were usually 30 minutes with questions ranging from the upcoming season to TCU facility updates and personal interests.

Licensing TCU signed a new agreement with the Collegiate Licensing Company this past year and experienced unprecedented growth in our licensing program. Revenue nearly doubled vs. the previous year and our â&#x20AC;&#x153;Paint the Town Purpleâ&#x20AC;? initiative pushed record retail numbers for our partners.

Online Store TeamFanShop, a nationally recognized online shopping marketplace, became TCU Athleticsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; online partner this past year and allowed us to significantly increase our product offerings from such top brands as Nike and gave us the flexibility to offer our fans Rose Bowl gear in a timely fashion. Go Purple Fridays If it was Friday of game week and you wore your purple at participating retailers around Tarrant County, good things happened. Countless TCU Sports Network partner retailers got into the act with discount offers for fans showing their purple pride on Fridays. Making purple reign definitely has its benefits.

The official football season t-shirt was introduced that generated funds back to the Mayorâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s charity of choice. We raised over $13,000 for Directions Home selling close to 7,000 t-shirts. The shirts were priced at $10, an affordable opportunity for everyone to participate.

National Media TCU’s Rose Bowl appearance and championship brought unprecedented national exposure to the Horned Frog football program. The 21-19 victory over Wisconsin delivered an 11.7 television rating. At the time, it was the highest overnight rating, excluding the NFL, in history for ESPN and all of cable television. For the second straight year, ESPN’s College GameDay made two appearances at Horned Frog football games. TCU was prominent across all national media, including quarterback Andy Dalton being the first Horned Frog since 1962 to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

NFL Draft The Horned Frogs had five players drafted for the second time in three seasons. Quarterback Andy Dalton was the 35th-overall pick by the Cincinnati Bengals, becoming the highest selection from TCU on the offensive side of the ball since tailback LaDainian Tomlinson was drafted fifth overall by the San Diego Chargers in 2001. Offensive tackle Marcus Cannon (Fifth round, New England Patriots), wide receiver Jeremy Kerley (Fifth round, New York Jets), safety Colin Jones (Sixth round, San Francisco 49ers) and cornerback Malcolm Williams (Seventh round, New England Patriots) rounded out the 2011 NFL Draft class. The five picks tie for the second most under head coach Gary Patterson. Twenty former Horned Frogs worked out for NFL scouts, coaches and general managers as part of Friday’s TCU Pro Day. A total of 26 NFL teams were represented by various coaches, scouts and front office personnel. San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh was among those present.

Super Bowl Host TCU served as the practice site for the AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers in their preparation for Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. The Steelers utilized the Horned Frogs’ football facilities, while the floor of Daniel-Meyer Coliseum was the site of team news conferences and media availabilities.

The momentum around TCU athletics is defined in the TCU Frog Club and its incredible network of volunteers. The 2010-11 fiscal year saw the Frog Club top $5 million in donations and 5,000 members for the first time, just two of many records set. The Frog Club’s emphasis is on the student-athlete and raising Scholarships for Champions. The growth of the Frog Club has mirrored that of TCU’s athletics programs. Now in its 71st year, the Frog Club is positioned to help take TCU to the next level. •

In 2010-11, the TCU Frog Club reached an all-time high in revenue with $5,077,542 in support of Scholarships for Champions. With 1,480 new members this year, the Frog Club saw a 21 percent increase in membership with an all-time high 5,272 donors. Gifts to endowed athletics scholarship funds totaled $1,368,725. The Frog Club’s 80-member, allvolunteer membership sales team raised a record $1,646,509, marking its fifth consecutive year of topping $1 million. The Frog Club staff secured 3,300 down payments for the 2,500 available club seats in the renovated Amon G. Carter Stadium. The 2010 Horned Frog Classic at Colonial Country Club generated a record $250,000 in scholarship support for the TCU men’s and women’s golf programs, representing a 22 percent increase from the previous year. The Coody Classic, named in honor of former TCU standout and 1971 Masters Champion Charles Coody, had a record 200 players participate. The Frog Club moved into new offices inside Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, adjacent to the ticket office, to better serve its constituents. The official Frog Club website, www. tcufrogclub.com, was upgraded to enable more than $1.7 million in gifts to be made online.

HORNED FROG PRIORITY POINTS SYSTEM The Horned Frog Priority Points System was approved by the Athletics Committee of TCU’s Board of Trustees and the TCU Frog Club Board of Directors on June 1, 2006. The Horned Frog Priority Points System provides seasonticket holders, donors and Frog Club members with a transparent process for distributing high-demand tickets for TCU athletics events. All donors and season-ticket holders are assigned points based on several criteria, including annual Frog Club contributions, capital project gifts, cumulative athletic giving and season-ticket loyalty. The system has been used in recent years to allocate tickets to the Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl as well as the baseball team’s postseason appearances, including the 2010 College World Series. The Horned Frog Priority Points System will be utilized for the 2012 football season when Amon G. Carter Stadium’s renovation is completed. Over 20,000 Frog fans have accounts. LETTERMEN’S ASSOCIATION “A Common Bond ...The Tradition Continues,” that’s the mantra of the TCU Lettermen’s Association. More than just former student-athletes getting together to talk about times past, we are 20 sports strong with an active membership that gives back to its university. In 2010, the organization again surpassed the unprecedented milestone of 1,000 active members and has raised an all-time high of more than $110,000 in just membership dues alone. Our members have also given to capital campaigns, stadium improvement projects, athletic scholarship endowments, club seat deposits and made gifts to other departments on campus. As other universities are struggling to have their former student-athletes give back, the TCU Lettermen’s Association sets the bar.

• Continued to award more than $60,000 in scholarship assistance to the children of current dues-paying lettermen members through the Dutch Meyer Scholarship. • More than 600 former football players, athletic trainers, managers and coaches said farewell to old Amon G. Carter Stadium at halftime of the last game of the season. From remaining members of the 1938 National Championship team to recent 2009 graduates were in attendance, broken down by decades to pay their last respects to the stadium and to usher in the Horned Frogs to begin the second half. CAPITAL GIVING To continue our momentum on the field, TCU must keep pace with the rising costs of athletics scholarships, which have more than doubled during the past decade. Frog Club contributions help pay for athletics scholarships and keeping our varsity programs fully funded. Capital gifts help sustain and build athletics infrastructure. Together, the annual support of donors plays a major role in TCU’s success on and off the field.

Included above is an artist’s rendering of the entrance to a new TCU football locker room which would be completed in time for the 2012 season. Thanks to a gift from the David E. Bloxom Sr. Foundation, three new film towers will be installed on the Sheridan and Clif Morris football practice fields. The six overall towers are still named for the Darrell Lester Family.

An anonymous donor provided funding for a new van to be used by the TCU men’s and women’s tennis teams.

TCU ATHLETICS SCHOLARSHIPS Winning intercollegiate athletics titles demands a team effort. To build these championship teams, scholarships are vital to attracting and recruiting the highest caliber student-athletes possible. Giving to the TCU Frog Club goes directly to the Scholarships for Champions campaign. In 2010-11, the total surpassed $5 million for the first time, representing more than half the total cost of funding TCU’s 300 athletics scholarships.

FACILITIES UPGRADES The Jane Justin Field House made its debut in August 2010 at the cost of $1.5-million, which was the largest gift ever at TCU for a project geared solely for womenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s athletics. The facility features 5,000-square-feet and includes home and visitor locker rooms, an officialsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; locker room, a training room, offices, lounge area and wrap-around raised viewing terrace. In their first game since the opening of the Jane Justin Field House, the Frogs posted a 7-0 victory over Texas Southern on August 22, 2010.

Lupton Stadium expanded the seating capacity in 2011 with a pair of upper deck sections down the first and third base lines. The extra 850 bleacher seats provided shade for the concourse patios and assisted TCU to reset the top-10 record attendance marks in program history. Overall, the Frogsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; average attendance figures went up 35 percent in 2011. The additional seating was put to use early as a stadium record 6,099 fans arrived for opening night against Kansas on Feb 18.

AMON G. CARTER STADIUM Amon G. Carter Stadium opened in 1930 and instantly became a landmark in the Fort Worth skyline. The upper deck on the west side was added in 1956, making it visible from miles around campus. During the first 80 years, TCU’s home field witnessed the likes of “Slingin’ Sammy” Baugh before he became a Pro Football Hall of Famer. Davey O’Brien scampered his way to a Heisman Trophy and national championship in 1938. Bob Lilly played there before being the first-ever draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys and LaDainian Tomlinson set an NCAA single-game rushing record with 406 yards in a home game in 1999.

TCU played the final home game in the existing Amon G. Carter Stadium on Nov. 13, defeating San Diego State, 40-35, to clinch a share of the Mountain West Conference championship. A crowd of 45,694 Frog fans crammed through the turnstiles for the last time to watch TCU play its final home game, representing the third sellout of the 2010 season and fourth in the last eight home games. TCU set a single-season attendance record for the second-straight year, averaging 42,466 fans per game. The previous record total from 2009 was 38,187. TCU won its last 20 home games inside the friendly confines of AGCS.

It took years to build TCUâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Amon G. Carter Stadium, but only seconds for Austin Commercial, the general contractor in charge of the Stadium renovation, to implode the West grandstand of the stadium on the morning of Sunday, Dec. 5.

FUTURE PROJECTS The new Amon G. Carter Stadium will be reconstructed to its original height to ensure the stadium returns to the Fort Worth skyline. The fan experience will vastly improve with a new concourse, additional restrooms and concession areas, as well as more ramps and elevators. The stadium will also feature 31 suites and space for up to 2,537 club seats, in addition to new scoreboards, a new press box and more seating in the north end zone. The stadium is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2012.

TCU’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved an invitation to join the BIG EAST Conference in all sports beginning with the 2012-13 academic year on Nov. 29, 2010. TCU will become an official member of the BIG EAST July 1, 2012. BIG EAST members in football are Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, South Florida, Syracuse and West Virginia. For sports other than football, the BIG EAST also includes DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Notre Dame, Providence, Seton Hall, St. John’s and Villanova. By joining the BIG EAST Conference, TCU can continue its goal to build an excellent athletics program. The BIG EAST also provides TCU’s athletics program television exposure through ESPN, CBS Sports and SportsNet New York (SNY). The BIG EAST Conference has the longest standing continuous relationship of any league with CBS Sports. In adding TCU and the nation’s fifth-largest television market, the BIG EAST Conference further strengthens its footprint on the national television scene. BIG EAST markets already contained almost one-fourth of all television households in the United States. BIG EAST institutions currently reside in nine of the nation’s top-35 media markets, including New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Tampa, Pittsburgh, Hartford, Cincinnati and Milwaukee. Headquartered in Providence, R.I., the BIG EAST Conference was formed in 1979. The league has won 28 national championships in six sports with 128 student-athletes capturing individual national titles. “We take tremendous pride in having a nationally-prominent athletics program and joining the BIG EAST Conference will allow us to further grow our brand and increase our visibility and exposure,” TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte said. “Having BCS automatic-qualifying status was a priority for our football program and a great reward for the success we’ve had the last decade under Gary Patterson. Keeping all our sports together was also critical. We are very excited to accomplish both these goals and look forward to our new home in the BIG EAST Conference.”
