TCU Frog Camp

BECOME

leaders, mentors, Horned Frogs Students come to TCU with fantastic potential, and what they do as they transition to campus determines their ability to fulfill it. When they feel like they matter here, when they feel like someone here cares, they go on to do great things. At Frog Camp, we strive to make TCU a place where all students have the foundation to do great things. And we’re successful: students who attend Frog Camp are more likely to stick around for their sophomore year, more likely to graduate in four years, and overwhelmingly report Frog Camp was the program that confirmed their decision to attend TCU.

Opportunities *Scholarships. Campers pay from $200-$2200 to attend Frog Camp, which means that not everyone who wants to attend camp can afford to, or they can’t afford the camp that would best set them up for success. In 2012 we awarded $8,250 to cover 40 scholarships, including providing a full scholarship to each incoming Community Scholar. A dedicated scholarship fund would enable us to reach more students with Frog Camp, helping start their TCU careers off right. *More camps in more places. For the past several years, we have had to turn campers away as more students are interested in attending Frog Camp than we can accommodate. This is especially true for our travel camps - small, intensive experiences that take place throughout the United States and the rest of the world. The ability to offer more of these camps would mean the ability to provide unique and meaningful Frog Camp experiences to a greater percentage of the incoming class.

Opportunities *Leadership development. The better our staff, the better our program. Our all-volunteer student staff serves as gatekeepers for the future of TCU, and so investment in training and staff development pays off well beyond the 200 staff members. *Alumni involvement. Frog Camp’s twenty-year history means that we have graduated hundreds of staff members who go out and impact their communities. We need to be able to better connect our current students with those who have gone before in mutuallyenhancing mentoring relationships. Increased opportunities for alumni involvement mean increased opportunities to grow students who change the world.

who they are changes the world As a student’s first interaction with life at TCU, Frog Camp is the most effective way to create the TCU we believe in. Campers come to TCU understanding the role and responsibility they have to become ethical leaders and responsible citizens of the global community. The secret to our success? The staff - 200 extraordinarily talented student leaders and 100 TCU faculty and staff members who mentor, guide, connect, and create an environment where every camper begins to understand that who they are, and what they do, matters.

Opportunities *Design it here, take it where it’s needed. We’ve already started working to create freshman camps in high schools and anti-bullying, community building, and leadership development training for students throughout Fort Worth, and we want to do more. The potential for Frog Camp to contribute to the community is limitless. *Tell the story. Frog Camp is a place where talented, dedicated students work on issues that help at all levels of education. The better we tell our story, the more we can do. Opportunities to present at conferences, to research the Frog Camp effect, and to create space for students to move beyond the campus will serve to increase the impact that our students can make on the greater community. What we create at Frog Camp can change the world.

move beyond the campus Frog Camp is known nationally as one of the premier extended orientation programs. Thanks to this reputation, we can have a powerful impact outside of the TCU community. The nature of Frog Camp is to be dynamic: we aren’t bound to a specific timeframe or location. We travel easily, adapt well to new situations, and apply what we’ve learned with vitality. Frog Camp not only impacts incoming TCU students, student leadership, and faculty/ staff partners, but also has the opportunity to reach into unlimited situations to give people a feeling of belonging and connectedness.
