Two injured in Blue Hills shooting

TWO men, aged 19 and 20, are in hospital following a shooting near Miracle Close and Mary Jane Lane in Blue Hills on Saturday (May 23).

Police were called to the area at about 8pm following reports of gunshots fired, according to the police press office, where they discovered that two people had been shot.

The injured men were taken in private vehicles to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre just before 9pm.

The 19-year-old, who sustained a gunshot wound to the forearm, received immediate care.

“Diagnostic imaging was performed to assess the extent of the injury along with surgical interventions,” said TCI Hospital press officer Nikira John.

“The patient was in stable condition and did not require hospital admission thereafter.”

The 20-year-old, who had a gunshot wound to the upper body, was treated immediately by the trauma team.

“He was admitted to the High Dependency Unit for continuous care and monitoring and was transferred overseas for tertiary level care,” John said.
