The mission of “The Day of the Lord Ministries” is to embrace offenders, ex-offenders, and their family members with love through the various groups under our umbrella; to assist them in becoming equipped with the things they’ll need to be productive citizens, and loving family members.
Membership in The Day of The Lord Ministries includes all persons participating in any of the stated Ministries who choose to embrace our stated vision and values
To be an instrument through which the power of the Holy Spirit can minister to offenders, exoffenders, and their family members. Causing them to be self confident as they learn their purpose; to develop a new attitude toward their circumstance and rise above it.
“……at the time when Kings go out to battle…” 2 Samuel 11:2 “BEING OUT OF PLACE” Instead of David being where he should have been, he delegated his authority to someone else while he stayed at home. This act of being out of place led to a series of events and sins that would cost David dearly! When we should be at home with our family, some of us have been else where, and it has gotten us in trouble. Maybe some can’t relate to that, so let’s look at Jonah. The Bible said the word of the Lord came to Jonah (Jonah 1:1). In vs. 2 the word that had come to Jonah gave him specific instructions of what he was to do. Verse 3 says he did just the opposite, attempting to flee from God. The Bible isn’t clear as to why David was out of place, but we know that Jonah being out of place was a result of not wanting to do what God told him. “DISOBEDIENCE”! The Bible says “Like a bird that wanders from its nest is a man who wanders from his place” (Proverbs 27:8). For whatever reason we get drawn from our place in the Lord, we become lost. And once we become lost any and everything can happen to us because we’ll be in the enemy’s territory. Our sins will take us from under the spiritual protection of God, and God will allow you to have your way until you come to your senses (Luke 15:11-24). The prodigal son wandered from his place also, and the father allowed him to go. But his circumstances made him come to his senses, and he got back in place. God has shown us our place, (Ephesians 2:4-7) and that’s where we reign. Remain in place and reap the benefits therein.

I’m learning to face myself, learning how to forgive me; for the choices I made in the past, I now begin to see. I relinquished control of my life, and gave it over to sin; and did the things I thought bring joy, I connected with sinful men. I caused pain wherever I went, I just didn’t seem to care; I ran away my family and friends, when needed none was there. God didn’t intend for me to live this way, but it took prison to make me see; often facing it alone for so many years, I finally sent God my plea. in His own time He answered my prayers, He gave me time to get real; t he winds of contention blew on past, and His love I began to feel. He made me stop and take a look back, to see He carried the weight; He showed me the trail that led to Him, as he directed my earthly fate. What more can I do but fall on my knees, and give thanks to my Lord above; For He not only guided me and held me up, He gave me His undying love. He’s blessed my life in ways so great, until I’m at a loss for what to say; But He knows my heart and what I feel, for I give Him thanks for His blessings each day. Nothing I say can truly be enough, for He deserves thanks and so much more, for when he says, “come in my son.” only He can close that door. He’s opened my eyes to see my way, to know what I must do; although sometimes He’s let me fall hard; but He’s raised me up brand new. I trudge on staying on my path, traveling the course He’s set, taking heed to all the lessons laid out, from every person I’ve met. My eye is on the children’s plight, what’s to become of them; it’s one job He gave us to raise them right, and teach them all about Him. I’ll do my best to obey His word, and follow His every command, and do my best to spread His word to every woman, child and man.
“WHEN TALKING TO GOD, BE VERY SPECIFIC” MARK 10:46-52 A short word from Pastor of Born Again Ministries @ Stringfellow Unit After reading my text here, here was a man by the name of Bartimaeus who was blind sitting beside the highway begging, and when he heard that Jesus was coming through, he cried out, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. My brother and sister there will be people just like these here in verse 48 who will tell you to be quiet and hold your peace, but you have to do just as he did, he cried out the more Thou Son of David have mercy on me, now by this time Jesus stood still and said come, they called the blind man, and said he calleth thee listen to what Jesus ask him: What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? Now brother and sister he (blind Bartimaeus) could have ask for anything but he was very specific. He said that I may or might receive my sight. Now he could have asked for a home, money or food, but he said specifically that I want to see. “FINISHING WITH THE PAST” I am inclined to believe that God’s chief purpose in giving us memory is to enable us to go back in time so that if we didn’t play our roles right the first time around, we can still have another go at it now. We can not undo our old mistakes or their consequences any more than we can erase old wounds that we have both suffered and inflicted. But through the power that memory gives us of thinking, feeling, imaging our way back through time, we can at long last finally finish with the past in the sense of removing its power to hurt us and other people and to stunt our spiritual growth as human beings. The sad things that happened long ago will always remain part of who we are just as the gladness and gracious things will too; but instead of being a burden of guilt, recrimination and regret that makes us constantly stumble as we do even the saddest things can become once we have made peace with them, a source of wisdom and strength for the journey that still lies ahead. It is through memory that we are to reclaim much of our loves that we have long since written off by finding that in everything that has happened to us over the years. God was offering us the possibility of new life and healing through His Son. Though we may have missed God’s best for us in the past, we can still choose new life in His Son and the healing of old memories and old wounds that comes from a relation with them. Another way of saying it, perhaps is that memory make it possible for us both to bless the past, even those parts of it that we have always felt cursed by and also to be blessed by it. Painful memories can be just the tool that God uses to bring us abundant life in Christ. {John 10:10}. Prayer: Lord, help me to remember how you have been with me, working in all the events of my life, to bring me to yourself and to recovery. AMEN JC Bowens Jr.
“LEARNING TO BE CONTENT” Philippians 4:4-19 First we must give God the Honor, Glory and Praise for God is worthy to be praised. I would like to give thanks to my beloved Bro. & Sis. Virgil and Shy Wilson for following God’s will in this great ministry. Prayers goes out to my wife Pastor Anita Clark Smith, to all our families and my Brothers and Sisters in white. A special thanks to Sis. Shy Wilson for all her hard work in preparing the “The Spoken Word Newsletter” to reach so many readers. God loves you Bro. Virgil and Sis. Shy Wilson and so do I. “Learning to be content” is the message God gave me...Philippians 4:4-19 (v.4) Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again rejoice! (v.5) let your gentleness be evident to all...the Lord is at hand. We must rejoice in the Lord, rejoicing in the Lord is giving God all our joy and receiving joy from God. See God wants us to let our gentleness be known to everyone (including those who talk about us) not being harsh, rude, or mean...but being kind, meek, humble and loving to everyone. Why? because the Lord is at hand. (v.6) Do not be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (v.7) And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. “Learning to be content”, God is telling us to be patient and wait on Him. Do not be anxious for nothing (worried) about parole only in God’s time, things at home “God said I got it, how our family’s doing God said He got them taken care of. See God wants us to depend on Him always, to pray knowing our prayers are being answered by God. When we worry we sometimes miss what God is doing, because then we start trying to fix things ourselves. AMEN! Listen to the Word of God “the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. God said He will give us peace which (surpasses) be greater than, exceed all understanding to (guard) protect our hearts and minds in (who) Christ Jesus. God is good, all the time…(v.9) whatever you have learned or received or heard from me or seen in me - put it into practice. As Christians what we read in God’s word, God have shown us we must put it into our lives as a model for others to see Jesus in us. because we will never know that may be the only Jesus they can see is in us. (v.11) I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. (v.12) I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret to being content in any and every situation. Whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in need. In this message God is teaching us through Paul “Learning to be content” is to be satisfied with what we have. For God is blessing us everyday with life, health and strength. Some of us have good jobs or a job but we want more, our bills are being paid and we want more, we have a good car, we want a new car, we have food to eat and a place to live and we still want more! Why? because we are not “Learning to be content”, with what God has blessed us with. Christ is the answer to us being content in all our circumstances because then and only then we can depend on Christ Jesus. In (v.13) we have confirmation… “I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength”. As Christ gives us strength we know in all our circumstances, He is there with us to see us through, to comfort us in all we do. (v.19) And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ. In closing God tells us that He will meet all our needs, we must believe and have faith in God and know that His word is true. Remember, God stands Firm on His Promise, not one word He have spoken has not come true! “Agapao - Agape” God make your word active in our lives as we come to study, In Jesus Name. In response to an amazing devotional/Gospel Entertainment and News written by Mr. Javoni Jones who is stationed at the Eastham Unit. God Bless You! To start let me say congratulations on your hard word and the waves of success on your projects. God is Good! I will let the Holy Bible speak for me as well as other brothers and sisters in Christ. Agape (love) is unconditional, is not self-seeking, and also deals with a moral sense. For you Bible scholars the Strong numbers are Greek 25 and 26...Translated Charity, 1 Corinthians 13:2 says (paraphrased) you can have the gift of prophecy, understand all mysteries, all knowledge, have all faith, remove mountains but without love you are nothing. v4 says love does not brag and is not arrogant. My responsibility in the Body of Christ is to speak truthfully and many times it causes controversy. I am not exempt from nor do my responsibility diminish due to rejection of the truth. Several instances exist in the Holy scriptures where God’s people were stoned, hung, imprisoned for the truth as it was revealed in God’s inspired written word. Please look at Romans Chapter 14:4, it is up to God to make a man stand or fall (paraphrased) who am I to judge the intentions of a man’s heart. v10 says… we shall all stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ. Every believer will be there, it is for the sake of rewards. Paul is also paying homage to Isaiah 45:23 as he explains to the Romans every man must confess to God why he did or did not do something. Man owes me no explanation! The more we mature as Christians, the less we tear people down. Also look at Romans 14:17 it states “For the Kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness and peace, and joy inn the Holy Ghost.” (KJV) So then true spirituality is not shown in liberty of friendships, material gain, true spirituality is, manifestation in and of the Spirit. Only the Lord has the right to fully know the amoral matters of the conscience. Please help someone. Look at Deuteronomy 8:17-19 (Please read it) in verse 18 God lets us know He gives us the Power to get wealth to establish His covenant with us. god wants a relationship without defaming, tearing the fabric, and without thumbing our noses at one another. In the same 8th chapter, verse 2 says (paraphrase) God puts us through these trials to humble us, to test us, to know what is in our hearts and to see if we would keep His commandments. “LOVE is the command”. Matthew 24:10 “And then shall many be offended and shall betray one another”… Jesus is talking about people in the Body of Christ. In Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus Christ gives the Great Commandment, (paraphrased) Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, v39 Love your neighbor as yourself… Please Brother Jones enjoy your great success and I am thankful for your courage and wisdom. I don’t consider myself better than anyone. I consider myself luckier and blessed than most. People say I have a big ego, but I had to have an ego to make anything of myself in the first place. I did not get this on my own, God in stored all this within me to keep on fighting for what I believed in; it doesn't just happen. You have to make it happen, believe in yourself so others can believe in you and trust God to do what He do! Praise God to you all, I send my love and special shout out to Virgin and Shy Wilson for all they do for us all and being used by God. This month in the April 2013 edition of the Gospel Ent./News. I bring to you an associate of mine I went to school with, who later became a well known Professional Fashion Designer and Personal Music Manager, etc. He had a problem with forgiveness. Growing up and born in my hometown of Buffalo NY, “STEVO” has been a victim of molestation, which led him to being a homosexual, even though he is serving the Lord, he still struggles with his sexual identity, he’s still in the gospel circuit, manage various gospel artists, but still is being grasp by his stronghold of sexuality. Even though he know God do not approve with his lifestyle, but he’s making a change for the better, this is a process he has to go through. Those that are kept in bondage of homosexuality we as God’s people have to not cast them out, but embrace them, show them the love and power of God, and not be so quick to judge. If we as a body of Christ shut the doors on them, then who is there to turn to? The church is for the sick, weak, lost, etc. those are the ones God wants, and we got to be there to assist those in need of our help in Christ Jesus. Know where people come from before we shoot rocks, stones and condemn them, it’s a story behind every person. Pray for those who’s weaker than others, and let God do the rest! “Stevo” is getting over his hump of roadblocks and the hand that was dealt to him. so I ask you all to keep “Stevo” in prayer, show love towards one another and those who feel like an outcast. Christ lives within us all, and through us is how Christ show His love towards us and others. If not all, I do hope this story touched someone who can make a change for the better. “HOW GOD CALLED ME TO MINISTRY” Romans 11:29; 1 Thessalonians 5:24 Alonzo D. Fuller #604169, Clements Unit 9601 Spur 591, Amarillo TX 79107 One of many divine truths our heavenly Father and God has taught me - those God called, God equips! For 13 years I have obeyed and followed God’s plan for my life, I have watched how God prepared me, trained me and developed the ministry which He called me to do. I accepted the salvation and Lordship of Jesus Christ in 2000. I wasn’t looking for Him; He was looking for me, because I was lost. For the first five (5) years, I diligently and earnestly read my bible. I read it over, and over and over again until I became so absorbed with the holy scriptures, where I was able to memorize more than half the bible. I was so deluded to believe that memorization of the scriptures was the benchmark for true Christianity. However, it was years before I was able to understand that I must get the revelation of God’s word in my heart (my spirit). It’s how God called me to the ministry which pushed me to seek a deeper intimacy with God in Christ Jesus. I did not know if such intimacy with God was possible, but I was eager to know. On April 5, 2005, I experienced my first divine encounter with Jesus Christ. I have heard many Christians say, “God spoke to me,” but I did not understand what they meant. You see, I never heard God’s voice. I didn’t know anyone who truly professed the supernatural power of God nor anyone who walked in the God-kind-of-faith. All I knew, is what God’s word says. When men said, they were Christians...this actually troubled me, because their speech and actions didn’t measure up to the Word of God of who we are in Christ. I didn’t want to follow a man’s traditions what a Christian suppose to look like...there was none to fellowship who had like precious faith. In April of 2005, I was assigned to work in the Field Force. I’m sure many of you know what I am talking about. While I was working in the fields, I spent my time fellowshipping with God through psalms, hymns and just praising Him while I go about my work. Bear in mind, all I had was the indwelling presence of the Spirit, and not the infilling power of the Spirit. I just worshipped God the best way I knew how. After we finished our work in the field we returned to the main building to shower and eat lunch. Our day was finished. I remember returning to my cell, I climbed in my bed to rest - and not sleep. I laid in my bed praising God and speaking His promises. My eyes were closed. What happened next, I no more expected this than an unknown person sending me $100 million dollars. I had a mini-vision. I saw into the realm of the Spirit. without going into graphic details, the vision was repeated two more times. And next, I heard “HIM” speak to me audibly. Many Christians did not believe me when I told them about the vision and hearing God’s voice. His voice was not thunderous as portrayed on television. It was not replica of the Dark Vader on the Star Wars movie. His voice was distinctive, sweet, mild and authoritative. God spoke to me revealing what particular ministry office (Eph. 4:11) He’s calling me to...He continued speaking about the things He’s going to teach me and show me. His closing word was that Jesus was coming to me, and it will not be in a dream, it will be real. That was the beginning to my pursuit for the High Calling of God in Christ Jesus. I want to be more definite and detailed in describing how God called me to the ministry, but I am mindful how Sis. Shy Wilson’s task might be a bit challenging because she is transferring my words, my thoughts ad my revelations over onto her newsletter. I can only imagine how demanding her job will be when more brothers and sisters join this growing ministry. If Lord’s willing, in future articles, it will be my pleasure to share some of the things God has taught me: (1) to describe some awesome revelations and visions God has given me; (2) to speak what God showed me how to be led by His Spirit; (3) to clarify misconceptions about the Baptism of the Holy Ghost and the Gifts of the Spirit; and (4) to report the wonderful works of God on the Clements Unit; Be Blessed.
GREAT IS LOVE TOWARDS US Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” “First of all I want to say greetings brothers and sisters in Christ, I want all of you to know that you are loved by God and me. Those who know me personally I pray that you remember my love and my love for Christ despite my personal shortcoming! For those who don’t know me I pray that God uses me to love you via this message which He has given to me!” Now I thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for providing me with His life to live to the glory of God. The Lord has placed it within my heart to let all know that He loves them! I was so caught up in my pride and knowledge of God’s Word that I needed to be humbled and relearn again the “elementary principles of the faith” well in so doing I ran across the above verse (Romans 5:8)! I was blown away by this verse because for some reason I was looking at God from a stern perspective, nevertheless I had to readjust my vision to see Him as the God who sent His only begotten Son to die on the cross for my sins yet and still while I was a sinner! The love that is wrapped within those words of Truth knocked all improper perspectives of God out of me in an instant as I meditated repeatedly upon these words of love! With tears streaming down my face I realized more than ever that God loved me in my perversity and sin! How could I ever doubt His love for me? Me who was committed to wrong doing from the womb of my mother and never gave thought to anyone or anything but my own selfish pleasures and desires! While I was hustling running the streets committing all kinds of unspeakable evil...God was still loving me! He was keeping my heart beating while I gave in to more and more wickedness… He was still loving me! I’m blown away by the implications of this verse and it transformed my own personal mind and life! The scriptures say “Be ye imitators of God as dear children” As a child of God I have learned to forgive and love those who are outside of Christ! Instead of judging them and speaking condemnation against them I have learned to do what Christ did for me while I was a sinner! Love me! So now when I see others living outside of Christ I say “Lord have mercy on them and forgive them!” This has become my new normal way of responding when I perceive that what someone is doing is out of line I now pray for grace for them instead of echoing the sentiments of the religious self-righteous! About how they would never do that and how foolish these individuals are, without so much as uttering a prayer for them or reflecting on what God delivered them from! So I urge you brothers and sisters in Christ show love, forgive, and never forget the fact that Christ died for us and them! Even now, He is the one that gives them breath to breathe and allows whatever it is that they are doing! But let us intercede like the prophets of old and like the Lord Himself “who became sin for us”! When the prophets prayed they said “Lord forgive us of our sins!” they not only wanted to be pardoned but the sins of others as well! Or they so identified with the straying that they “stood in there place” albeit spiritually because if they weren’t wise enough or knowledgeable enough to come to God they desired to go to God for them. Now that’s love! To go seek the good of another who may not care or even desire for you to help him. (just like we were when Christ died for us) But yet go into the secret place and pray and God says what you do in secret He will reward you openly! Pray for grace and you receive grace! Because we reap what we sow! Let us sow as wise servant who had someone love us while we were “dead in trespasses and sins”! So too we must love others! Never forget what the Lord has done for us saints and lets press into not only the Word of God but also the WAYS OF GOD! Be Blessed! And I pray that those who have not accepted Christ as their personal Saviour would do so now without delay! Nevertheless know that God will still love you no matter your choice but don’t wait until it’s too late! God is love but He also cannot allow iniquity to continue to reign and if your in sin when He returns or you die before, you will be lost forever! ‘THE BLAME GAME” Scripture: (Genesis 3:12-13) The man said, “the woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate.” then the Lord God said to the woman, “what is this you have done?” and the woman said, “the serpent deceived me, and I ate.” LET US PRAY: O, God, if it were not for the blood of Jesus, I could not stand in your presence...eager to do your will. But because of “grace and mercy-” I have been redeemed. And I take full advantage of this divine moment, to offer myself up to you as a living sacrifice-that you might be glorified in and through me. Use me Lord, to speak healing into the lives of your people...enamoring them to live (above) their oppressive circumstances, and the (lies) of the enemy (Satan). Father, your will be done, now and forever. In Jesus Name, AMEN! Because of Adam’s disobedience and Eve being deceived by the serpent, (sin) entered into the world. And when confronted by God about what they had done, they both pointed the finger elsewhere. I find it interesting how easy (without conviction) it was for them to shift the weight of their guilt onto someone else… an unfortunate occurrence that is still happening (today). Owning up to you faults, mistakes, and shortcomings seem to not be very popular. “Are we growing in God’s grace, or are we playing the blame game?” I will be the first to admit, “I played the blame game for a mighty looooong time!” whenever I were confronted about something wrong or irresponsible that I did, or something I wasn’t doing that I should have been doing, I always had an (excuse) ready as my defense.” I would blame both my biological parents!!” I feel that “if they were (better parents) to me, then maybe I would have blossomed into a (better person).” No matter what the ordeal was, as far as I was concerned—”they were to blame.” However, as I grew up in the grace of God, I began to realize and understand that, though I lacked) their parental guidance and (love) during my younger years, and even my adult life, I couldn’t continue holding them hostage (at fault) for my poor decision making and diabolical behavior that I once regularly displayed. At some point I had to “MAN-UP…” and carry my own weight. God showed me that playing the blame game was (crippling me spiritually), this prohibiting me from being “RESTORED...revived from the debilitating stages of my lower self;” furthermore it interrupted my otherwise, lovely relationship with God— causing me to wither away on the inside...like a plant does outwardly, due to its lack of being watered. The blame game is a “cop-out” for those who need something to hide behind, but what the individual fails to realize is that… it actually puts them on display– showcasing just how “SELFISH, IMMATURE AND MORALLY BANKRUPT THEY TRULY ARE.” the time has come for us to “STOP” shifting the guilt of our sins and shortcomings onto other’s. “NO ONE IS PERFECT...WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES!” And when we do, because of what Jesus did for us on the cross at Calvary, we can turn to God for forgiveness through our genuine (repentance). The sooner we start taking (responsibility) for our own actions-the better off we will be as a person. So I ask the question: “How long will you continue blaming other’s...for the choices and decisions that (you) have made?” Let Go and Let God make you over. PEACE! *GOVERNMENT WORKERS* I am a Government Worker, I can’t be laid off, I can’t be fired because I work for the Kingdom of God, you see, I work in Horticulture; I plant the seed of the gospel to glorify God in every way. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. (Luke 8:11) By working in Horticulture as we plant and water it with the word of God; but God give it the increases… with God’s help and guidance, we can continue on a path that is pleasing to Him. We’re never without a helper, because we have the Spirit within. But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing to men, but God which tried our hearts. (1 Thessalonians 2:4) The prison has rescued me from a life of destruction, to be able to truly hear the word of God and to educate me with the Holy Word. By the grace of God I found out that the Word is not just for information but for transformation! And by me coming to prison I have been truly transformed and I give God all the glory and allowing Him to write a new chapter in my life… When we allow God to show Himself through us, it’s a powerful demonstration of His grace and love and our words need actions behind them! The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. (Proverbs 18:10) As I walk in the light through the blood of the Lamb; He allow me to become a “Government Worker” for the Lord and to plant and water His sheep's with His Word!! He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, feed my sheep. (John 21:16) If you want to be apart of the kingdom of God, let Him come into your heart and I promise you it will change your life from darkness to light. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross. This may be coming off a lil staggeringly but with God’s guidance I’ll be able to get through this newsletter because the Spirit guided me up to do this, so bear with me. First of all I’m on the Coffield Unit during my current incarceration, and at this present time we’re on a Unit Lock-Down receiving empty promises of coming up and confined to these lil cells with our cellies trying to find new ways to do old things I should say. My stress level was at a all-time high waiting on some mail or anything of amusement! Now, I’m a child of God and I’m striving daily to be Christ-like, I have my daily failings of the flesh and I can honestly say some of my prayers are being answered because I feel it and I know faith without works is dead, so yes its requiring me to put in work to where my failings are becoming weekly or monthly instead of daily just being honest with self 1st & foremost. But being the person I’ve been aka (“Black Tubbs”) is wearing off and my birth name “Dederick” the new me is forming and its challenging but I’ve always been the one that’s up for a challenge and I want & need this because this challenge is of GOD. Now, back to this lock-down where I was waiting impatiently for some mail and my name was called and it wasn’t what I was expecting but seeing the Newsletter pamphlet from you all really was a surprise to me, because not only was it on time but yall have a way of reaching people through other peoples shout-outs and words of encouragement. But every time I’ve read yall’s newsletter I have been intrigued how you & your wife find time to bridge the word of God throughout this penal system. They hold back majority of my mail when it gets to the unit for reasons that’s known to me during my “Black Tubbs” days but when it comes to yall newsletter they let it straight through. (God is good, right?) But I’ve been following what my spirit says to me, through my daily praying & meditations I’m trying to build a better relationship with Christ. It was put on my heart after reading your newsletter about “gratefulness” and it spoke volumes to me about showing our gratitude to those who do for us and owes us nothing, just as you mentioned how Christ gave His life for our sins. And that inspired me to write this letting you & your wife know how much I thank & appreciate the both of you for doing the deed that was done by sending the mail to me. Now I know I can say out of all the meals they have sent through my celldoor this was by far the best one this lock-down and if I can will I be able to request these letters daily , (just asking) But keep up the GOD work and keep my family & I in you all prayers and the same will be done on this end. I will if its in GOD plan, be able to write every month and if its anything else I can assist you all with feel free to let me know because I’m willing to do God’s work in every which way. I’m in the Street Sweepers Ministries here at the Unit and it’s a Outreach Program for Troubled Youths so I’m allowing myself to be shaped & molded to perform the duties Christ has in store for me. Life is a Journey How many times have you wanted to give up and just make your life easier? Who said being a Christian is easy....ummmm...I have always been told that if you want to do the right thing, you are suppose to take the road less traveled. Our lives as Christians are full of faith and hope in the Lord. I always find my comfort in Christian music. One of my favorite groups is Plumb. They have this song that is called "Need you Now." It is about how when we need God we cry out to him. When we are walking in the shadows we cry out to him I need you now. There are many of you at this moment that are in that position. When the world is on your back and the walls are closing in on you, we need to cry out HELP ME! We have to hold on to that faith that the Lord our God will pick us up and carry us. Hold onto the gracious mercy that the Lord shows to each one of us. Give him the praise for picking you up whenever you want to crawl into the ground and give up. I have felt that desperation, the feelings of failure and despair. I have cried out to the heavens why me? What did I do to deserve this misery? Brothers and Sisters you have to understand that we have been granted free will and the misery isn't because of the Lord, but what we choose to put ourselves through. In the times of misery and despair would you change those times or are you glad you went through them to become the person you are today? I am going to pick I would not change a thing. My life has not been all roses. I have wondered through the shadows to. I have been ashamed of myself. I have been at the bottom, when I could not even stand to be in my own skin. I have stolen from my family, cursed God, used drugs and alcohol to numb the things that were happening in my life. Grant it I have not had a hard life, not like some I have met in my life. I was a selfish teen that knew better than to do those things. I wanted to rebel because it was the cool thing to do. I was always told that I was a born leader, but at that time in my life I followed the wrong people. Darkness fell on me, the shadows owned me at this time. I was in the stormy seas of the fallen. Drowning in my sin, I felt this hand pull me up from the depts. When I was at my lowest the sweet breath of God put new life back into my polluted body. Draining all the imperfections out of my system and giving me the will to live. You have to understand I was saved and baptized in the church whenever I was seven. I knew right from wrong. I was in leadership in the youth group, but still I fell into the depths of hell. To stumble in your life is to learn the lessons that the Lord wants you to learn. Is that road easy? Absolutely not....this journey in this part of my life was one of the hardest times I ever had to go through. Not only did my body have to recover, but also my mind, body and spirit. I was broken, afraid and deeply scared. Whenever I became sober all the things that I was trying to cover up came back to me. I had to deal with them all over again. The feelings of not being worthy or my abandonment issues from my mother and father had all come back to me. Traveling with all these issues at 18 years old was not easy. One day I looked up at this powder blue sky with sprinkles of white puffy clouds in it. The sun was in my face so warm and inviting. I dropped to my knees and just started to cry like a baby to my father in heaven. Asking him to forgive me and to help me heal this broken heart. I prayed to help me to forgive those who have wronged me and that I have wronged. Ever since that day I have struggled to not only forgive those people I had to forgive, but the biggest person I needed to forgive was myself. You need to love yourself before you can truly love anyone else. Forgive yourself before you can whole hearted forgive those who have wronged you. I know each one of you feel alone like you are the only one in this world with these issues. I am here to tell you, you are not alone and you have support and love . The Lord Jesus Christ is the person who knows your hurts, pain, past and all the little secrets your heart hides. He is here for you. His blood was shed on a wooden cross for our hurts. He was humiliated, stabbed, mocked and beaten for us to live in eternal peace. We have all felt some of this, but remember whenever you are feeling there is no light at the end of the tunnel JESUS is there for you. He is ready to pick you up and carry your burdens. If you would like to know this kind of love, all you have to do is pray a simple prayer. “Lord Jesus I am a sinner. I know you have died for my sins. Please forgive my selfish heart. I want to live for you, in your light. I want to be saved and walk hand in hand with you. AMEN” I want to welcome all who prayed this prayer of salvation to the family of GOD! It is a miraculous journey, but let me warn you there are trials and hardships you will go through. Evil does not like those who come on the “Good side.” Satan likes temptation and discouragement to keep you on his side. When you feel let down or discouraged, drop to your knees and say a prayer and get into your bible for refreshment. PRAY, PRAY, PRAY and did I say PRAY. Keep your eyes to the skies and your knees to the ground. That is my personal recipe to keep my heart going in the right direction. P.S. I love you always and forever James Brown. Lessons from the Ant My brethren in the ministry, I greet you in the name of Jesus Christ. I come to you today encouraging you to unite on a common front. To Labor together for the common cause of sharing the gospel. Allowing God to use us as a willing vessel to save souls. We are soldiers in God's army and we should act like it. We are not the men we use to be. We are the church that God has brought together and he has given us gifts to use for his glory. We are expected to act in a higher standard. "My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. Jas 3:1" Knowing this we should look to the Ants for tips of life. "Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways and be wise. Pro 6:6" Ants show us how we should act as men chosen by God to spread the gospel and intercede for others. Ants are the most laborious insects in existence. In the oriental cultures they are a symbol of industry. As a kid, did you ever have an ant farm? If you have, then you have seen that they will build an elaborate system. The tunnels within the mounds that they have built show how they continuously work. We should continuously be working to learn more about God's word. This will allow us to be armed and ready to minister to those who come across each one of us. Ants are fondly attached to their young and as parents we should be to. It is our job to teach our kids about God and to be that example of how to walk in his light. Ants have a keen foresight for others, we call this discernment. God has given us the ability to discern what is going on in others lives. Discernment is not to be used to cast judgment on others. This gift should be used as a tool in our intercessory prayer life, which we should be diligent in. Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary states, "You may as soon find a living man that does not breathe, as a living Christian that does not pray." Prayer is a necessity in a Christian's life in order to maintain a personal relationship with the Lord. It keeps our spiritual battery charged. I know that if I slack off and do not pray there are going to be negative consequences. I will start to slide back into worldly thinking and that is the beginning of a downward spiral into the life that I lived before being saved. Another thing ants do that we should learn from is they work quietly without show. "Take heed that ye do not your alms before men to be seen of them; otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in Heaven. Therefore when thou doesn't thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and streets, that they may have glory of men, Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. Mat 6:12" We sometimes get caught up in wanting rewards now for our service instead of knowing that we are working for the Lord and not the world. It is especially hard when we are persecuted for what we do. Our faith is then challenged and it is hard to keep doing what we know is right. The beautiful thing about it is that we will be rewarded by God for enduring the persecutions and not succumbing to the pressures of the world. "Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake; for there is the kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you and persecute you and shall all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake. Rejoice and be exceeding glad; for great is your reward in Heaven; for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Mat 5:10-12" Therefore, be encouraged knowing that God is watching. Every ant has a purpose, a definite job. As we say, a calling in life to help meet the needs of the community and church. The church is dependent on us to use the gifts that God has blessed us with. This will help us to go forth and make disciples. "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Mat 28:19-20" We are not called to become Christians and then just sit in the congregation to listen to the pastor preach every Sunday. We all have gifts that are not for us, but for others to benefit from for the growth of the church. We are the church and if we just sit on our gifts then the church will suffer. An unhealthy church makes for an unhealthy community. Some of the reasons our society is in shambles, is due to the failure of the church. We are not reaching out to the community with our gifts to enlighten the people. We are to caught up in doing "US" and not considering others with spiritual needs. This will lead me to my last statement of the ant. They go about life's work without being forced to do so by a guide, overseer or ruler. In other words, they do what God created them to do without being convicted by evangelist or your local pastor. We must teach our children about God before they start going to jail, having sex before marriage, but not after they are juvenile detention at 12 or having a child at 13. Let us stop sitting on our gifts and start using them for his kingdom. Brethren, I am a deacon at an all inmate church, from the pastor to congregation, we are all in white. One of the most valuable things I have learned is not to touch the controversial doctrines within Christianity, but rather stay focused on Christ's life, death and resurrection! Brothers, i implore you to work, study, and fellowship together. This will result in learning from one another. Let us put all controversial doctrines to the side and work together for the kingdom. Paul wrote in 1Cor 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ and him crucified. This is the most important, the rest is not worth breaking fellowship over nor is it worth missing the chance to minister. Once again, unite and break the strongholds that Satan has placed on the church. Reach out and fellowship with someone that you normally do not associate with. Pour out the love that Christ pours into us.

(MUSIC THEORY 101 IN THE KEY OF “C”) Today I want to talk to you about what I like to call Music Theory 101 in the key of “C”. Being a Musician and playing the Bass guitar and other instruments for over 20 years also being a anointed man of God, I was led to contrast this article with Music Theory and God. In the key of “C” there are no “sharps” of “flats” in it. The key of “C” is the only natural key in music where all the notes in it are natural notes. However, in God I like to say “C” stands for Christ. He is a natural anointed one. There was no sin in Him. He don’t change, He is the same today as He was yesterday and He is the same forever. (Hebrews 13:8) Christ want go “flat” or “sharp” on you, He will always be there for you in a time of need. On the “piano” the “C” is called the middle “C” because it is the note that is in the middle of all the notes on the piano. Christ was the man in the middle of the two men on the cross. He represents the greatest love of all, He is the center peace of civilization, He is the glue that holds us together. According to the circle of “fourths” and “fifths” in music the “C” starts it and ends it. Christ said I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last (Revelation 22:13). Christ was there at the beginning of your story and He will be there at the end and if you are His you will receive that expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11) In closing, God created man and He used man to create musical instruments for His pleasure to bring a sweet sound that is pleasing to Him. A PSALM FROM A SON OF GOD The one thing I do know; God loves me. I have played on the grace of God, and have been smitten. I have played the spiritual harlot, and turned my face away from God and drank deeply in sin. My back is tender from the whipping of my sins. But the most pain comes from my heart because God has shut the heavens up to my prayers. The protection and joy of God has left me, and my enemies has had their way with me. My God’s patience has worn thin with my iniquities. The day came, in horrid disbelief I fled. The storms continued to take a toll on me because I am found owing. I am dreadfully fearful because God has turned His face on me, my footing is amiss, and my words are in error. My appearance has changed, and the light has left my face. I sit in darken dungeon like my events, and paying. I can’t run or weather it out, for every turn is a new fear and threat. Favor and blessings have left me. The hand of God is heavy, and I am truly scared without Him because I am easily drinking defeat. I bang at the door of Heaven, so that I can come before the Throne of Grace to obtain mercy in my time of need. But the Heavens are shut to my prayers, they are shut to my supplications, they are shut to my cries. Alas Father, please forgive me. I have sinned against you. My errors are breaking me. You have protected me and blessed me with favor and plenty. In return I have failed in pride and the lusts of the heart. When the demons came my house was found without you. my house was given over to my incorrect sowings. I am very sorry Father, my spirit is broken. Please God, in your great mercies and love; please forgive me. Restore me to the joy of your salvation. Refill my cup with blessings, and replace your hedge of protection over me. Give me the wisdom and knowledge to correct my footing and words. Restore me to the favor in you. for your love is greater than anything. “MOVING TARGETS” I often reflect on the moments in my life that are directly connected to my destiny in light of God’s will. You know, those moments when you plug into your purpose while doing what God has called you to do. Maybe it’s sharing a simple but life changing word with someone or standing in the midst of another storm by faith – trusting God. Or maybe it’s teaching others or being the pastor God called you to be. Whatever may be the case, it seems like in those moments, in that brief glimpse, I feel most alive, most effective. I realize moment’s like those in these prisons are actually quite small in comparison to the grandeur visions we usually meditate upon or envision of ourselves – however, even the little things are of big importance when you consider the mechanics of how God works with us. yet, eagerly I await the day when I too can cross over the Jordan river and into the luscious promised land the way the Israelites did. (Josh. 1: 1-2) “Now it came to pass after the death of Moses, the servant of Nun, Moses servant, saying; “Moses, my servant is dead, now therefore arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel.” Friends, I long for that day when it is time to advance to the next level of my destiny the way the Israelites did that day. But first I must understand something about God. God hits moving targets, my friends. You see, to begin with, the Lord has already made the necessary provisions for you and I to succeed and function at a high level in His kingdom. God has already blessed us and made possible everything we need to fulfill our destiny. (Eph. 1:3) If we are in Christ Jesus, then we can do all things and we have all things necessary for success, spiritually and physically. In short, God is very much like the electrical company that has entirely supplied the electricity needed to fully power our house – however, you must be the one to flip the switch in order to receive the electricity. The Israelites had to get up to go forth and they had to go forth in order to go in and possess what God had already given them. God hits moving targets. Too many men and women are waiting on God to love in regard to their personal problems, situations, issues, obstacles or challenges – but yet God has already supplied all that’s needed for us to rule successfully. He’s just wanting on “you” to get into the proper position so He can hook you up. God hits moving targets. I’ve discovered that too many of us are looking at our immediate surrounding – whether it be this prison, debt or etc and have either become so discouraged that we’ve quit moving our feet or we’ve allowed doubt to have a place in our heart, therefore making it virtually impossible to connect the everyday events we go through right now – with our overall destiny and purpose. But remember friends, everything involving the Israelites journey was directly connected to their future and destiny; - Nothing was wasted. God knew this even when they did not. Brother Feagin, Brother Mayes and all the rest of you God-chosen soldiers of Christ – I realize it is a painful process when the squeeze is on. But I also realize how messed up we are as people even when we think we’re okay – therefore the squeeze works for our good. Our lives are very much like the Navy Seal training. This training is the most intense in all the world and usually on class of 200 aspiring seals sets out to make their dream come true. However, because of, the intense and rigorous hardships they’ll face, usually only about five to ten end up making it successfully. In fact, 95% of them will quit within the first 4 to 5 weeks. But, in reality, those guys have to be tough in order to endure what lies ahead of them on the mission field, because they will face untold dangers that would break the common man. One specific hardship every aspiring seal must face is called Hell week. This is six days of untold grueling pain and sleep deprivation. Those men are drilled non-stop, in the cold, in the heat, on the land, in the water, in a boat and back again. It is said that these six days take off at least five years of a man’s life and it has also been reported that it takes at least 12 months for the average body yo heal from this abuse. Hell week is where the majority usually end up quitting. When asked how an aspiring Seal makes it through this nightmare – many have reported, “one step at a time”. It is too difficult to try and imagine the next mile they have to run or the next ice-cold swim all night long. It is too difficult to imagine another day of punishment while never knowing when it will end; so the successful ones who actually go on to become Navy Seals – make it through one step at a time. They blockout everything else and only concentrate on the next step they’ll take – otherwise their thoughts will overwhelm them. They keep their feet moving and forget about yesterday, tomorrow, the next hour or even the next minute. The only thing that matters is making that next step. CONTINUE ON NEXT PAGE
This reminds me a lot about how the Israelites walked out of Egypt, the only life they’d ever known, across the desert, into the wilderness and eventually across a river and into a land they had never seen before. They had to keep moving in order to go in and possess. I’ve discovered that when I linger too long gazing at something along the way to my destiny, my feet have stopped moving. Therefore, progress has been halted. Keep moving because God hits moving targets. It doesn’t matter what you’re going through right now, keep moving – keep praying, keep believing in God’s goodness and faithfulness, keep serving, keep loving, keep forgiving; just keep moving and whatever you do – don’t look back. God told Joshua Moses was dead. Moses was also symbolic for yesterday – the past. Rule number one: leave the past behind. God was reminding Joshua that although Moses was real, Moses was yesterday. Yes he led them out of Egypt and through the wilderness but he didn’t take them into the Promised Land. One step at a time, keep moving and do not look back. Some of us haven’t arrived at our destination yet because we’re still to tied to yesterday. However, in order to move forward and obtain your tomorrow it is important that you say good bye to yesterday, just don’t live in it; because yesterday’s victories will not carry you through today. Neither should yesterday’s defeats dominate tomorrow. God began His talk with Joshua by giving him an important reminder: Moses was gone. Then He told him to get up and get going. Remember, if the devil can keep you looking back then he can keep you from moving forward. The last thing I need to understand about God is that He desires for me to seize my spiritual inheritance. In Josh. 1:24 God say’s; “Now therefore arise, cross this Jordan, you and all the people, to the land which I am giving them, to the Sons of Israel. Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses. From the wilderness and his Lebanon even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites and as far as the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun will be your territory.” God told Joshua that He had already marked out where Joshua was supposed to go. He had already staked out their inheritance. What was true for Joshua and the Israelites back then is true for you today: God has already given you everything that you are destined to have. God has already determined everywhere that you are destined to go. Remember Eph. 1:3 – He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Everything God has destined for you, He has already given to you. It is located in the heavenly places, so now it is your job to draw it down. It gets pulled down through faith and faith always involves moving your feet. Faith without works is dead being alone. Joshua and the Israelites had to get up and go in to possess what was already theirs. You see, faith is not simply believing and doing nothing while we wait on God to do everything, No, faith means that you believe God so much that you are going to act on what He says. Faith is when you act as if God is telling the truth. Since Joshua believed God had given him the land, he walked in and claimed it. He basically stood up on the tallest hill and screamed out loud, “Hey everybody – this land now belongs to me!” God has given us everything to manifest His kingdom in this earth. Guess what, if you need peace – then it’s already available in Christ Jesus and God is sitting up in the heavens with His hand on the knob just waiting for you to take the initiative to be a peace maker. The moment you take the first step to instill peace – God lets it go. Forgiveness, same thing – I dare you to just step out and watch God flood your situation with whatever you have need of. In closing, whoever you are or where ever you are right now, I want you to understand that God has something good on store for you. I want you to believe that because it’s true. So, reach out and grab ahold of it right now. Do not let it get away! If you can believe that then you’ll also need to understand that everything involving your life right now – no matter what is going on – is directly connected to your overall destiny, and how you respond right now will ultimately make all the difference when you finally get there.
