And among the most famous Scots traditions, you’ll find a few of our favorite textiles: Tartan plaids, Harris Tweeds, herringbone and Fair Isle. That’s why we traveled here—to study the history, the style and the culture of this captivating country.

Eastside Farm

Penicuik, Midlothian, Scotland Ten miles from the cobbled streets of Edinburgh, the wind rushes over rolling green hills, carrying with it the songs of birds and new lambs. Here we found a working farm, complete with charming stone cottages and 1,750 sheep.

The Eastside Farm has been a part of the Cowan family for four generations, and Alistor (Ali) Cowan—the hardworking patriarch—tends to his flock with the help of Swift and Jill, a pair of brilliant border collies.

It’s a picture-perfect setting for our fall collection—an idyllic Scottish farm with lots of bleating lambs, a few scruffy Shetland coos (that’s how the Scots say cow) and pristine pastures as far as the eye can see.
