SAFETY TOOLBOX TOPIC

OSHA SAFETY WEEK MAY 2-6 The purpose of the National Fall Prevention Stand-Down is to raise awareness of preventing fall hazards in construction. Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction workers, accounting for 337 of the 874 construction fatalities recorded in 2014 (BLS preliminary data). Those deaths were preventable. Fall prevention safety standards were among the top 10 most frequently cited OSHA standards, during fiscal year 2014.

Katy ISD Franz Storage Facility

In 2009 Teal Construction completed the Franz Storage facility for Katy ISD. The facility provides Katy ISD with offsite storage for all of the departments of the surrounding schools. The construction was a pre-engineered metal building that was divided into section areas to allow for each department to have their individual entry and delivery zones. Site development was done to provide parking, loading zones, landscaping and a new security fence. We recently started our second project with Katy ISD. The South Transportation Expansion is a multi-building project that includes a day care building, bus transportation building, bus wash, maintenance building, and associated site work.
