DEMONTROND KIA
PM. John LeBlanc S. Taylor Macon PC. Connie Enmon Demontrond Kia is a reimage project at their North Houston dealership. After this project we will have successfully completed 7 projects for the Demontrond Family. This is Taylor’s second project this year for the Demontrond’s with the completion of Demontrond Volvo in the spring. The exterior of the building will be receiving new EFIS and ACM panels as well as new stamped paving areas. We are anticipating the completion of Kia to be mid-June.
PM. Les Chipman S. DeWayne Bonin PC. Chantela Rowland SI Group Administration Building is a new tilt-wall, two story administration building built in Angleton, Texas. The walls and steel have been erected, the second floor has been poured and it’s full steam ahead on getting the building dried-in. The Administration Building has a construction period of one year and is set for completion at the beginning of November. We will start seeing the completion of the steel package and walls being framed on the first and second floor in the upcoming weeks.
SI GROUP ADMINISTRATION BUILDING
CLUTCH CITY. With a winning weekend in Houston Sports, we have our teams back on top! Astros win against the Blue Jays on Sunday keep the Astros at 1st place in the AL West and the Rockets Game 7 win over the Clippers advance our team to the Western Conference finals. Can the sports excitement be felt in the Construction Industry? Is Houston really the Clutch City in all facets? Driving around Houston, we see cranes lifting tons of steel to build new high-rise and mid-rise complexes attesting the ever plentiful Houston construction industry. The recent scare in the Oil & Gas industry has brought up many questions about how the real estate industry and the start of construction projects in Houston will fare as the cost per barrel continue to dwindle and bring back memories of Houston 1980’s economic crash. Since then though Houston has built a more diverse economic market and building up multiple industries causing Houston to not fully rely on the OG market. Much of the new construction that began in the last two years was to catch up with the increase in employment and new or growing companies to deliver needed office space and apartments to the ever growing Houston economy. From Q1 2014 to Q1 2015 office construction has quadrupled, industrial construction has made a steady rise, while retail construction gradually fell. The new design of mixed-use properties combining retail, office, and living spaces had multiple new construction starting this year, but many that are currently in the design phase have halted until a more favorable economic forecast of Houston can be predicted. Out of 13 major office, multi-family, and mixed-use projects that were slated to start construction the first half of 2015, six have been put on hold due to the economic uncertainty. In the public sector, Teal has seen an increase in municipal projects with the passing of multiple capital bond programs in 2012 and 2014. Many of these projects will start in the latter half of 2015 and Q1 2016. Teal Houston will have eight projects breaking ground in the next two months and look forward to many others slated for fall construction in both Houston and Corpus. As the OG industry is unknown, we can continue to see a future in Houston construction industry.
