Who Are Team Bath Racing? Team Bath Racing are the Formula Student team formed at the University of Bath, competing in the FSAE worldwide design competition. With a complete team formed from over 100 undergraduates across four academic year groups, each year we design and build our own bespoke, single seat racing car to take part in both the UK and global Formula Student events. With a car weight of around 160kg, Team Bath Racing has had the fastest accelerating UK car for the past five years, reaching 100kph in under 3 seconds. Our students accumulate their wealth of knowledge through three years of academic study at one of the best engineering Universities in the world, the majority of whom also obtain real-life experience on 12 month industrial placements at companies such as Williams F1, McLaren Automotive, BP, Mercedes GP, Jaguar Land Rover and Cosworth..
Team Bath Racing is unique in the world of Formula Student. It is part of the degree programme at the University of Bath, giving our members large amounts of time to focus on the design and manufacture the car each year.

The 2015 Project Team Bath Racing has always been a well established and successful outfit, with next year’s team being no exception. For 2015, the team plans to take the car in a new direction, hoping to win the Formula Student UK competition outright. In an all new design for Team Bath Racing, the 2015 powertrain has been downsized to a single-cylinder, turbocharged engine. This produces superior values of both power and torque compared to the previously used Aprilia V-Twin engine and will be Team Bath Racing’s first venture into forced induction. TBR15 recently took part in the Class 2 event at the Formula Student UK competition at Silverstone. Here the design and business ideas, as well as the costing for the car, were investigated and examined by a team of expert judges. The team achieved a 1st place in the costing event, a 2nd place in the business event and a 6th place is the design event. This meant that Team Bath Racing finished 2nd overall, by just 0.7 points, less than 0.2% of the final points total. The feedback from the judges was extremely positive, and with the new design rules being imposed for 2015, the team are confident they can produce a competition winning car.
