Living.
Everything seems upside down, turned around from how we treat the planet, animals and one another. What can we do? During high school I had a dream of being an oceanographer...and explore the world with Jacques Cousteau and his crew on the Calypso (that’s a story for another time). I love animals and nature and as a kid you always found me in tidal pools, frog ponds or deep in the woods exploring and bringing critters home that my family put up with. Today I worry that my children and grand-children will not have those same opportunities I enjoyed. Globally wildlife and ecosystems are being destroyed. Years ago we began reusing and recycling but apparently that is not enough to help; it’s good but not enough. Perhaps we need to totally rethink some of the products we use and ask ourselves if it is something that is really necessary. Or even ask ourselves how could we reinvent the product. There are more and more ideas being thought about. One concept #buildbackbetter, asks us if we all commit to do just one thing to protect our environment we could build a better tomorrow. Eating plant based foods is one way we are working at building a better tomorrow. What could you do? Let’s put together a list of ideas.

Real Estate Outlook:
Adopt Lily
SUMMER SHOULD BE BIG Leaders of both large and small firms envision an active summer selling season. Low inventory and a potential return of the coronavirus, however, remain points of concern. There has been a gradual recovery of the housing market during the coronavirus pandemic, and the economics indicate a potentially robust next few months. In our local market we have seen multiple bidding wars. In other news I have read that furloughed real estate professionals are already coming back to other brokerages as well. And fingers crossed that supply shortages appear to be easing at least a little bit. That doesn’t mean the market has fully recovered, but the takeaway is that overall, we and others across our area and the country there is a optimistic feeling right now. So that being said, if you or anyone you know is thinking about buying or selling real estate let’s get together and talk about the market in further detail. Interest rates are still incredibly low with no signs of increasing. Win, Win, Win!
Lily is a wonderful cat, who has gone through a lot in her life. This past winter Bill rescued her from our neighborhood one extremely cold night. The next day we noticed she had a huge cut on her side and off to vet Bill and Lily went. Because she was considered a wild cat and the cause of her wound unknown, and concern about rabis, the vet was required to report her to the Delaware Agricultural Department. Who then with an official 6 page letter, required us to keep her quarantined in our house for six months! For added fun our two dogs knew there was somone new living in the basement and that made new challenges as well. Today the good news is Lily is healthy and putting on weight and purrs all the time...except because of the dogs she remains confined living in our basement. Lily needs a home. She deserves a loving home to call her own. Maybe you or someone you know can help. Call Bill at 302-367-5285. Or email bill@teamwebsterhomes.com

Your Own Zero Waste Insect Repellent
How to make a simple green alternative to the toxic and damaging insect repellents that are on the market. When we can its a good thing to make your own products to reduce our impact and waste. If you don’t have certain ingredients when making stuff ask friends...they may have it...or go to Amazon! Method: 1. In a pourable container add half a cup of filtered water. 2. Add Half a cup of witch hazel. 3. Add 3 tablespoons of jojoba oil. 4. And add 20 drops of any combination these essential oils - Citronella, Clove, Lavender, Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Lemon, Sandalwood (I like the Eucalyptus version). 5. Stir well with a fork or whisk. 6. Pour your mixture into a repurposed old spray bottle you may have at home, or a glass spray bottle. To use, simply spray all over your body avoiding the face. This should warn bugs away, without needing to use harmful chemicals. This recipe from @plantbasednews on Instagram.

Should I price my home higher to leave room for negotiations? This is a common pricing mistake that sellers make. Many sellers believe they should price their home $5,000 higher than what an experienced Realtor suggests to leave room for negotiations and low-ball offers. A well priced home will sell quickly and will sell for close to the listing price. Today’s home buyers are very well educated. A seller who prices their home high to leave room for negotiations can actually be costing themselves more money than if they price it to reflect the suggested market value.
How long does the listing agreement last? When it comes to the length of a listing agreement, every real estate agent will have a different period of time. With Team Webster we typically have a one year agreement where after 3 months either party can get out of the contract with one days written notice. We review the typical days on market when determining the period of time before both parties can get out of the contract. Got questions or curious about anything real estate? Looking For Accidentally Vegan Food? Foods are accidentally vegan when they contain only plant-based ingredients. There are lots of products available in supermarkets that were not created specifically for vegans, but do not contain any meat, dairy, eggs or honey...which makes these products ‘accidentally vegan’. Lots of the food people eat every day is accidentally vegan, including bread and pasta, fries, and potato chips...here are some we found. And many of these items you will find in our pantry!

If you’re looking for fries, onion rings make sure they are not cooked in lard, or in the same oil as the meat, and you should be good to go. l Subway’s veggie delight (look out for sauces that contain egg and milk or bread that contains cheese) l Starbucks BBQ Vegan Wrap With Jackfruit And Slaw l Burger King fries and Impossible Whopper (without the mayo)
