Official Bike of WORS
2016 marks the twenty-fifth year of WORS and although a we have not done a thorough search, we may now not only be America’s largest, but also its longest running state mountain bike racing series. As we reflected upon this we begin to realize the massive combined effort
Wisconsin Off Road Series WORS Cup
that our riders, race directors, volunteers, sponsors, and their families have put forth to make this happen. These designations not only fill us with pride, but cause us to try to identify the principles and values that have gotten us here. Primary in those is WORS emphasis on the recreational racers and it is with this in mind that we continue the evolution of WORS.
DIRECTOR Don Edberg
For 2016 we have suspended our participation in the Pro XCT and shift the resources from that event into a three event Midwest MTB Championships with scheduling focused more on

past participation, reduced the number of events in the series, done some schedule shifting. We with a local race director and their local organizing committee. So, when a race director decides against continuing their event with WORS, we lose a venue. WORS is a primary sponsor of the Wisconsin High School Cycling League and looking forward, the series will probably end in August so as not to overlap with high school racing. As always welcome your input on anything WORS as we strive to continue to put on the best events and provide the best race experience possible in service of the greatest number of participants possible. We hope to see you on the start line!

WORS (Series) REGISTRATION Racers wishing to receive an overall in WORS or participate in WORS team competition must register with WORS.
Series registration may be either completed online at www.wors.org by April 25, 2016 or by downloading a form from the website or using the one from the 2016 WORS Racer Handbook and mailing it with the appropriate registration fee to WORS, postmarked no later than April 21, 2016. These deadlines are to allow for number assignment and notification in time for racers to register for the first WORS event of the year using their series number. Series registrations after April 25th should take place at the WORS tent on site at a WORS event. A racer must have a series number for a result to count toward a series overall, WORS team competition, or to pre-register for all but the first race they wish to have counted in their series overall score. Points for series overalls will be figured retroactively for up to two races for first time Citizen registrants, but only one race for all others! (To receive retroactive credit a competitor must write that they are requesting retroactive credit along with their number from the race(s) for which they are requesting retroactive YEAR TWENTY-five

credit on their series registration form). WORS will inform those registering by April 25th of their series number by e-mail and will begin assigning numbers on April 1st (specific number requests will not be given priority after March 31st). Those registering after April 25th will receive their number assignment at the WORS tent at their first event. A racer may not compete in Sport with a Citizen number and vice versa! WORS timing system will not accept an incorrect number and your data will fail to appear on the results.
LOST OR FORGOTTEN NUMBER PLATES: Replacement numbers are
available at the WORS tent at a cost of $10 for a new series number plate (plastic) or $5 for a temporary number plate. Back number replacements are 50 cents each.
CHANGING CATEGORIES UPGRADING: Racers upgrading during
the series will pay a $5 administrative fee and have two options: 1) A racer may turn in their series number plate at the WORS tent to have a percentage of
their accumulated points transferred to the new category (70% for a one category upgrade, 50% for a two category change) and be issued a new series number or 2) Keep their original category points intact and start with zero in the new category. In either case all results applicable to the team competition will register. Comp racers moving to Cat 1 using option 1 transfer 60% of their points from the Comp overall (not age class) to Cat 1; option 2 is unchanged. DOWNGRADING: Those who feel circumstances warrant their moving down in category must petition WORS in writing with the reason for the downgrade. They will have to reregister with WORS, pay a $10 administrative fee, and will be given full credit for points from their original category results. CHANGE WITHIN CATEGORY: Those making a change between age class, Clydesdale or Single Speed within the same category will pay a $10 administrative fee, turn in their series number plate and have 75% of their previously earned series points transferred.

The total prize list and depth of awards, is determined by the combined number of Pro and Cat 1 competitors in the race with the total number of male Pro and Cat 1 competitors determining the Men’s prize list and the total number of female Pro and Cat 1 competitors determining the Women’s prize list. There are no age classes and Cat 1 racers are eligible dependent upon their overall placement in the Pro/Cat 1 race.
Cat 1 racers winning money from the Elite prize list are excluded from age class “WORS Cash”.

WISCONSIN OFF ROAD SERIES
phone number, name of race, category and age class, and place of finish. Mail info and check to: WORS, 8675 Rolling Hills Road, Custer, WI 54423. Mailed requests should be made within four weeks of an awards ceremony.
WORS SERIES SCORING To be scored in WORS overalls, a competitor must have a series number and compete in a minimum of 5 series events (6 for Comp, Cat 1, and Pro) during 2016. For Citizen and Sport a competitor’s best 7 results will be used for tabulation of their final overall points. In the Comp, Cat 1, and Pro categories the best 8 results will be used. A competitor who competes in more than 7 events (8 for Comp, Cat 1, and Pro) will be awarded 5 bonus points per additional event completed (maximum of 20 points). DNF’s will remain 1 point. There are eleven scoring opportunities over ten races. In case of a tie, head-to-head results will be used to determine placing (first wins and then points if tie remains). If a tie still remains, a tie will be declared and both racers will receive equal awards, with the next place being dropped.
Special WORS Scoring for Midwest Mtb championships Participation in multiple events at the Midwest MTB Championships (MWMTBC) offers 2 scoring opportunities toward a racer’s overall. #1 - Series Racers competing in the Cross-
country will receive series overall points. The points awarded toward their overall will be determined by their placement against only other series racers within the class they are competing in according to the WORS Series Points Scale. Non-series riders are excluded from placememt for series points for this event only. WORS Cup categories & classes may vary. Participation in the MWMTBC CrossCountry is required to be eligible for a second overall score.
#2 - The second scoring opportunity at
the MWMTBC comes from a series racer’s
participation in either the Short Track and/ or the King of the Mountain Omnium. Series points will be awarded for a racer’s placing amongst racers from their WORS category within the Short Track or KMC Omnium age class (not normal WORS class) raced. For racers competing in both the Short Track and KMC Omnium the higher of the two points awarded will be added to their series over, but not both.
VOLUNTEER POINTS: Series racers who forfeit participation in a race to help run the event may qualify for volunteer points. To receive these points, a point total equal to a racers lowest scoring race excluding DNF’s, a racer must: 1) contact the race director at least 8 days in advance of the race to apply for acceptance to the race staff, 2) work a minimum of 5 hours on race day, and 3) pick up a VP (volunteer points) form
from the WORS tent, fill it out, have their Race Director sign it and turn it in to WORS Timing & Scoring. A series competitor may include only one VP in their overall results. The VP will either replace a competitor’s lowest scoring event with a point value equal to the second lowest score or one equal to their lowest score depending upon the number of scoring events they have in their overall score. OVERALL POINTS: Points awarded at each individual WORS race toward series overall scores for Comp, Cat 1, and Pro overalls, as well as places within each age class for all categories, are listed in the WORS Series (Overall) Point Scale table on the next page. Points awarded for Cat 1 age classes are awarded by combining overall finish points with age class finish points.

WORS Team Competition presented by
2016
Mishlove and Stuckert, LLC
Whether you are a member of a large formalized team or just want to get your buds together to be a part of the fun, you will want to be a part of WORS Team Competition. The competition has 6 divisions with 1st through 3rd place* awards to the teams with the greatest number of entrants and to the teams with the greatest number of team points accumulated at the end of this year’s 12 race schedule.
(*1st place requires 2 teams in the division, 2nd place 4 teams, and 3rd place 6 or more teams.) WORS highly encourages all mountain bikers to join a team. Doing so will help you increase your racing and riding enjoyment and your performance. Want to connect with a team in your area, contact WORS at don@wors.org or call (715) 592-5095 and we will do our best to get you a contact in your area.
Divisions
• Women’s: 5-8 Racers. (Registration fee: $10) women may race for a team in this division as well as one team in any of the other divisions. • Unlimited Team: Teams with more than 20 members compete in this division. (Registration fee: $50). • Large Team: 13-19 racers . (Registration fee $35). • Mid-Sized Team: 7-12 racers. (Registration fee: $25). • Small Team Division: 2-6 Racers. (Registration fee: $15). • Junior: Teams in this division will be made up of registered WORS racers 18 years of age (as of 12-31-16) and under. Team rosters for this division are limited to 10 or fewer racers and are encouraged to include 20% female racers. Multiple teams from the same shop, sponsor, etc. are strongly encouraged. (Registration fee: $10). Only racers registered with WORS and having a WORS Series
Number will score points for their team. A Team Competition Registration Form (along with team roster) must be turned into WORS and have each competitor’s WORS series number and name on the roster. • A registered WORS racer may only ride for one team. (This includes junior team members.) • A team may enter one or more teams in the Junior Division, but only one team in any of the other divisions. • All riders listed on a team’s roster will have that team’s name listed with their name on all WORS results postings. Team Changes: Competitors who change teams during the series should notify WORS as soon as possible after the change via a team modification form. The team points they have earned prior to notification will remain with their previous team. Team points cannot be contributed to their new team until the next year.
Registration
Team Registration must be completed by July 10th. Team points will be awarded retroactively through the date each team member began racing with a WORS series number. Team members who change categories during the season and reregister with WORS will receive credit for both categories. Pick up a team registration form from the WORS tent at a race or on the website at www.wors.org. Turn it in to WORS by July 10th, 2016. Team scores are figured retroactively back to the first race for which each team member had a 2016 WORS series number.
Team Scoring
Participants: To receive credit toward the “Participants” awards in WORS Team Competition a competitor must have a valid WORS series number and must either finish the race with a recorded time or report their DNF to timing the day of the race. Teams receive one point for each team member, meeting the above criteria, towards the “Participants” competition. Points: Points for the “Points” Class Multiplier competition of WORS Team Citizen Youth .6 Competition are figured by taking CITIZEN .9 the series overall points each team SPORT 1.2 member earns (see WORS Guidelines, 1.5 WORS Scoring) and multiplying those COMP 1.8 points by the class multiplier. No ELITE points are earned for DNFs or DNS’s. Only racers listed on the team roster accompanying their team registration form will be scored.

IOLA BUMP & JUMP Iola Winter Sports Area ~ Iola, WI Sunday, May 15th, 2016
The
Iola Bump and Jump race course evolves a little each year based on racer input, rider and spectator safety, and the condition of individual sections of the track. However, the overall character that makes this course a favorite of many remains constant. The start loop that takes racers up and around the back side of Iola’s 40 & 60 meter ski jumps and then drops back down past the lodge into the jump bowl may be the best lead-out in all of WORS. In addition, several minor singletrack modifications have been made to improve the racing experience for all. For the youngest novice racers, the Bump & Jump’s Kids Race course provides an opportunity for them to expand their skills. With the start and finish areas near the ski jumping bowl, the Bump and Jump offers spectators many fantastic opportunities to view their favorite riders. A post-race spaghetti dinner will be provided free of charge to all racers by the Iola Winter Sports Club, with other concessions available in the ski chalet. Onsite rough camping will be available for $10 per car first-come, first-serve. Nearby Iola Pines Campground provides full facilities, but fills up fast (see ad below for contact info). For more details and race registration information, please contact race director, Phil Johnsrud at
715-572-9884, or johnsrudp@tds.net. Sponsoring the Iola Bump and Jump is always an enjoyable experience for the Iola Winter Sports Club volunteers because of the great attitude of WORS participants. Club members volunteer year after year to work the race and to be part of the fun and excitement that WORS brings to the small friendly community of Iola. The Iola Winter Sports Club’s mission is to carry on a ski jumping tradition, provide low cost youth and family ski programs, and provide high quality cross-country skiing for its members. Proceeds from the Iola Bump and Jump help the club continue to improve the facility. Race director, Phil Johnsrud and the Iola Winter Sports Club want to make this event the best it can be. If there is any way for them to make this race better for you, please let them know.

BATTLE OF CAMROCK CamRock Park #3 ~ Cambridge, WI Sunday, June 5st, 2016
Capital
Off-Road Pathfinders (CORP) has worked to build CamRock Park into one of the true gems of Wisconsin mountain biking. CORP is an IMBA-affiliated volunteer organization that builds and maintains all of the off-road cycling trails in and around Dane County. The Battle of CamRock will be a race to remember; a great race course, the King of the Mountains Challenge, a separate race course just for the kids all within a festival atmosphere at beautiful CamRock County Park. Bring the family and prepare for a day of fun for all. Or come for the KMC King of the Mountain Challenge and make a weekend of it with onsite camping or lodging right in town. The trail system at CamRock is an awesome blend of wide and fast flowing single-track that runs through open fields of prairie grass, wooded single-track with bermed turns and more technical single-track with a touch of roots and rocks. The Battle of CamRock will be fun and challenging for all levels, Citizen to Elite, with fun single-
track, great downhill, feed zones and, of course, the sprint to the finish. Like us on Facebook at facebook.com/BattleOfCamrock. Stay up to date on all of the latest news and announcements by following us on Twitter at @battleofcamrock. Or visit us at www.battleofcamrock.com. Dane County trail passes will not be required this year. Don’t miss the race consistently voted as one of top courses on the entire WORS calendar!

MOUNT MORRIS CHALLENGE Nordic Mountain ~ Mt. Morris, WI Sunday, June 12th, 2016
Featuring
rolling hills, flowing singletrack and ripping downhills WORS and the Waushara Area Mountain Bike Association (WAMBA) present the Mount Morris Challenge at the Nordic Mountain ski area. The trail work at Nordic began in spring, 2006 with shovels and rakes and the construction of a 5-mile loop. As the trails developed, the site hosted regional championships and multiple national Pro XCT events. With annual trail expansion, course designers can now tailor course design to each WORS category providing challenge and fun for all. WAMBA was established in 2011 to build and maintain trails in and around Waushara County. The Nordic trails are the focus of mountain biking in the Fox Valley and WAMBA encourages the use of the trails free of charge all season long. For trail information follow us on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/ WausharaAreaMountainBikeAssociation/

The Red Flint Firecracker has become known for its fabulous trails and family friendly venue and this year will be no exception. With our mix of twisty pines, hard-packed Whoops and speedy ski trails racers will find plenty to love about this year’s course. The Firecracker weekend has plenty in store for you beginning with onsite camping both Friday and Saturday nights so that you and yours can sit back and enjoy the weekend without needing to leave the grounds. After your first pre-ride on Friday, don’t miss your chance to savor some amazing wood-fired pizza. The Foster’s Cheese Haus Firetruck Pizza will be back again selling hot, delicious pizza from 5 – 8 PM on Friday night. Since our goal is to provide you with great trails AND an incredible weekend of bikes and camaraderie the fun continues Saturday, June 25th with course pre-rides, our popular All-YouCan-Eat pasta feed (a fund raiser for McDonnell High School cross country team) and hanging out by the bonfire. You may even want to top the evening off with a night ride!
Start your race day with an amazing All-You-Can-Eat breakfast (fundraiser) that will be sure to fuel you up. Once you’ve completed your race, relax at the Racer Lounge and enjoy the shade, free snacks and water. Concessions are also for sale throughout the day on Sunday. And don’t forget, we will have great swag for all registered racers!!! One thing we boast is “spectator-friendly” viewing areas. There are many sections of trail just a short walk from the Eau Claire County Expo that feature an elevated view of some of the riding or running challenges the competitors will tackle. Are you a runner? The fleet-of-foot can add to the weekend by signing up for the Firecracker Trail Run and choose between a 5K or 10K race on the same great trails we boast for the mountain bikers. Not racing? We are always in need of volunteers, who also receive a swag bag PLUS a t-shirt! Please be sure to watch the CORBA website and our Facebook page for course updates and race enhancements that are still in progress. This Firecracker is always a blast!!
All race proceeds go directly to CORBA, a 501c3 non-profit organization. CORBA builds and maintains the trails you are riding. A special thank you goes out to Lowes Creek County Park for their support of mountain biking and CORBA.
THANK YOU 2016 FIRECRACKER SPONSORS!

A challenging five mile lap snakes its way up, down, and around the moraines of Minooka Park. Racers will face steep climbing and flat out speed on a mix of flowy single track with huge berm turns, technical segments and flat out stretches that will approach road bike speeds. A mix of new and re-routed trails should increase flow and passing in 2016. Racers of all levels get the chance to experience a little of everything, including the “Bat Loop,” “Sooper Bole” and “Flat Tops” single track segments, as well as the blazing fast “Vista Cruise” single track in the prairie. This venue puts friends and family in perfect position to cheer on their favorite racers all day long.

WISCONSIN OFF ROAD SERIES
HIXON FOREST EPIC Hixon Forest Park— La Crosse, WI Sunday, August 7th, 2016
Hixon
Forest Epic organizers and the City of La Crosse are excited to host the 7th event in the 25th year of Wisconsin Off Road Series racing. Hixon Forest is over 800 acres of bluffland overlooking the Mississippi River Valley in the heart of the Driftless Region-La Crosse, Wisconsin. In the early 1900s, a group of citizens including members of the Hixon family raised funds to purchase area blufflands to save them from additional quarrying and logging. Soon after deeds were exchanged, the lands were donated to the City for preservation and recreation. In modern times, the City of La Crosse Parks and Recreation Department works with local organizations to build and maintain world class trails and facilities for hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, and mountain biking. The City of La Crosse Parks and Recreation Department’s mission is to enrich our community through stewardship of the environment and through provision of quality recreation, facilities, and fun. Bringing the WORS races to La Crosse matches the mission and puts our city on the map as a mountain bike destination. Funds are aggressively reinvested into our trail network in an effort to always be
improving on our excellent opportunities for riding. Our organizers have put together an exciting course that builds on the challenges of last year and exemplifies the kind of riding that is synonymous with our region. Expect rocks, roots, berms, and grinding climbs with furious descents. In addition, everyone is invited to live it up in La Crosse on Saturday for the pre-ride, then venture into our historic city and explore. There will be a chili feed hosted by Pearl Street Brewery (1401 Saint Andrews St) and a free pint for each registrant. Those choosing to make their bed upon the bluffs are invited to a summertime night ride on the trails. The day of the event, excitement kicks off with the Hixon Forest Frolic 5K, hosted by Grand Bluff Running. The popular Kids Race means you better bring your children along for fun, and bring your appetite, because local food and craft beer vendors will be filling your plates and your pints! It’s going to be a bigger and better year for our 2nd go ‘round and we can’t wait to see you! For event updates, “Like Us” on Facebook at HixonForestEpic.

An uphill rolling meadow start to heat up the legs and spread out the pack. Sport, Comp, and Elite riders will endure the spectator-favorite downhill section followed by a long, steady climb up the Vista Trail. Racers can relax for only a short section of road riding before diving into the technical single-track portions of the course. Citizen and Junior courses maintain the characteristic Hixon challenges with significantly less climbing. All riders can expect to find thrilling challenges through rock gardens, root tangles, and punchy climbs with fast descents.

WISCONSIN OFF ROAD SERIES
REFORESTATION RAMBLE Reforestation Camp ~ Suamico, WI Sunday, August 21st, 2016
New
for 2016 the Reforestation Ramble will use a shorter more intense loop and the normal WORS race schedule. Our historic marathon length course is off the table at least for a year with a new course for 2016 and some new amenities. The course will be more single track than in the past, as the majority of you requested in your feedback, but with enough double track to allow moves. We will be using the South East Kingdom, Twister, and Divas Ridge single track with the shorter lap. The Reforestation Camp is fast draining, so a little rain just firms and tacks up the track. Although Sunday is race day, be sure to stop out Saturday for pre-riding, the Vendor/Exhibitor Zone with Pete’s Garage, and Learn-to-Race clinics. Pre-riding will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rough camping is from Friday in the lot area as always. Ashwaubenon Nordic Ski Team (ANST) is proud to host this event again. It is a fundraiser for us, but also is held for the NE Wisconsin mountain bike community. ANST strives to make nordic skiing at the regional and national level affordable and is the home of the Wisconsin girls state championship team two years running, girls champion, and the second place boys team. Four of our skiers are bound for the Junior Nationals Championship races after a grueling qualifying series. Thank our volunteers and find our donation can. Every little bit helps!
We are planning on a party and feed on Saturday night as well as live music. Also, the trail run races are back on the race loop to start the day for the runner in the family. Our “give-a-ways” will grow as we get closer to the race so the raffle tickets you pick up at registration maybe be the real ticket. In keeping with the Junior athlete focus, we have a promotion for 2016 associated with Brown County’s Great Adventure Park. The Adventure Park offers a climbing wall, ropes course, and dual zip lines that will offer fun to all racers and families alike. Brown County looks for trail fees from all riders. The annual pass is really inexpensive and is the way to go as it feeds the maintenance and development of these trails and park. A daily pass is $5, an annual pass is $30, which is a steal for a park that has over 25 miles of mountain bike trails within 1500 acres and something for everyone. They are one of our event sponsors. You can expect a fee waiver from our Brown county board for Sunday race day! At WORS book printing time the enhancement to this event are still in the works. Check and like the Facebook event page for updates and additional events and promotions.. please remember! Pets are not allowed at the Park due to the NEW Zoo being next door to the Reforestation Camp.

SHEBOYGAN MTB CHALLENGE
Quarryview & Evergreen Parks ~ Sheboygan, WI Sunday, October 2nd, 2016
The
traditional finale of WORS, this year’s event, the Sheboygan MTB Challenge , will use a fun and challenging mix of trails in Sheboygan’s Jaycees Quarryview and Evergreen Park. This venue allows for the conveniences of a city, with ample dining choices, showers, real bathrooms, and plenty of parking while allowing competitors to feel as though they are in the Wisconsin Northwoods. The course is mostly single and double track. One moment you will be concentrating on a tight singletrack in the midst of pine woods and then suddenly you will enter a spectator vantage-point where friendly cheers will pump up your adrenaline and push you forward. Sand, gravel, asphalt, mud, grass, pine needles, roots, and the famous “Sheboygan Slickrock”, this course has a bit of everything. Mixed in with a few sharp descents and the “Equalizer” are a fair number of blazing straights and swooping flow sections. Spectators will enjoy the incredible viewing areas all around the course, so bring your camera and get a shot of your favorite racers. The Sheboygan MTB Challenge is expected to bring an exceptional field of racers to this, the closing venue on the WORS 2016 series. The Sheboygan MTB
Challenge has great race viewing, concessions and a prize filled raffle to follow! You do not want to miss this event! Come on Saturday for the pre-ride from 12 noon to 7 pm. There is no on-site camping, but motels in the area include: Comfort Inn (800-228-5150), Baymont Inn (800-428-3438), AmericInn (800-634-3444), and Holiday Inn Express (800-465-4329). The Sheboygan MTB Challenge is one of three races put together or supported by the FatKats, a charter member of the IMBA Chapter representing G.E.A.R.S. (Glacial Edge Area Riding Society) Check out the FatKats at www.fatkats.org

WORS Rules to race by IT IS EACH AND EVERY COMPETITOR’S RESPONSIBILITY TO KNOW AND ABIDE BY THE RULES!
Ignorance of the Rules is NEVER an acceptable defense! ÊÊ Only
registered racers may compete in a WORS event. An official WORS race number plate and back number with age class clearly marked must be displayed by each racer. No competitor shall cut, fold, mutilate, apply stickers to or alter in any way their WORS number plate. Numbers are not transferable. ÊÊ All competitors must wear a properly secured helmet, complying to DOT or CPSC Standards at all times during competition as well as when pre-riding or warming up on the course. Competitors must wear proper riding attire, including a shirt, shorts, and fully-enclosed shoes during competition. ÊÊ Each competitor is responsible for having their bike in good operating condition, including but not limited to: two fully-functioning brakes, plugged handlebar ends, NO hazardous attachments including kickstands and reflectors, adjusted hubs and headset, true wheels, and a sound frame (no cracks, severe bends or dents). Race and/or WORS officials may remove any
racer from the start whom they feel is attempting to compete on an unsafe bike. Racers must start with and ride the same bike throughout any single event. ÊÊ Personal listening devices which
may interfere with a racer’s awareness of other racers and their surroundings are strictly prohibited on the race course. ÊÊ All racers are required to be self-
sufficient. Meaning that should a rider encounter a mechanical problem with their bike they must be carrying any and all parts and tools needed to make a repair and complete that repair without outside assistance. A racer is who is unable to meet this rule is expected to retire from the race or complete the race with their bike in as is condition. ÊÊ All Competitors must be self sufficient. All repairs during a race must be performed by the individual racers. Tools and spare parts used in a repair must be carried by the racer. No off-course assistance is allowed and
racers may not “cannibalize” or accept any parts off anyone else’s bike during a race. ÊÊ Deviation from the marked course will result in disqualification unless the competitor reenters the course at point of exit. This includes ducking under any flagging marking the boundaries of the finish chute. A competitor that purposely leaves the marked course during competition is deemed to have retired from the race and will be scored as a DQ or DNF. ÊÊ Feeding and/or “hand-ups” to a racer from a support person may occur on any part of the course with the following stipulations: 1) all those feeding must stand to the right just off course, 2) running with a racer is prohibited, 3) feeding must not interfere with another competitor. This is an override of USA Cycling Mountain rules and is in effect throughout WORS. ÊÊ Self feed bottle dispensers or the
like must be located in a designated feed zone near the start of the lap. ÊÊ Any competitor littering the course

with a gel packet, food wrappers or other waste will be disqualified! If you Packed it in, Pack it out! ÊÊ A competitor on their bike has the right-of-way over one pushing their bike. Whenever a competitor is off their bike, they need to make every effort to allow access to the fastest/ most rideable part of the track to racers on their bikes. ÊÊ Lapped racers must yield the
track immediately. A lapped racer by definition is one from the same starting wave as the overtaking racer. Other racers being overtaken should make every effort to let faster riders by as soon as the course allows. ÊÊ It is the responsibility of an overtaking rider to pass safely. No racer is expected to stop their race to allow other racers to pass. However, no rider shall intentionally impede the progress of another. A rider should make his/her presence known when

overtaking a slower rider (i.e. “On your left. Please!”). Especially in singletrack, await return communication from the rider being overtaken that it is safe to pass. A rider passing another is expected to do so in a manner which requires the least accommodation from the rider being passed. ÊÊ The use of profanity or flagrant discourtesy directed at another competitor, race worker, or spectator is grounds for disqualification from an individual event, first offense, and WORS upon the second offense! ÊÊ Mountain biking is an individual
sport, and even though WORS does have a team competition, entering into agreements or forming alliances (monetary or otherwise) to control or alter the results of a race will result in disqualification from that individual event. ÊÊ Pre-riding the race course after the start of the first race of the day
is prohibited! On race day the only individuals riding bicycles on the race course should be those entered in the category(ies) competing at the time. Interference with another’s race by doing so is grounds for disqualification, (i.e. an Elite racer riding on the race course during the Sport race in such a way as to cause alteration of results or put Sport racers in danger). ÊÊ A race may be halted or rerouted by the race director or emergency personnel in case of severe injury to a rider or life threatening weather. Racers failing to heed the instruction of medical personal and/or course marshals attending to an injured rider will be disqualified! ÊÊ Protests of the results, the conduct of a racer, or any other matters related to the race, may only be filed by a competitor in the event or a race official. Protests must be reported to or filed with a timing official within
