Welcome to WORS 2017! We are excited to present the twenty-sixth edition of WORS to the all cyclist looking for a little racing fun in the dirt. We have been blessed through the years to have a large number of really good people involve in the series and would like to thank all of those that keep the series going and growing. Our participants, race directors, volunteers, sponsors, and their families add up to arguably the best mountain bike series in the country. We will continue working hard on fostering an environment that provides the best of mountain bike racing experiences for as many as possible. This year’s series will start out with a change from the get go as we not only are at a new venue, but will be trying out an alternative schedule as we race on a Saturday. The Englewood Opener promises to be a great addition to WORS and has a Saturday evening party in the works to cap off a great day of racing. The other nine events return from last year with many holding similar position in the calendar, there are some changes though. The WORS Cup and the Colectivo Coffee Bean Classic have swapped positions from last year, so Midwest champions can be crowned be Nationals. Treadfest is now the finale of WORS and will be held the last weekend in August. On the sponsor front, we welcome Schlossman Dodge City Chrysler Jeep on board as our new Citizen category sponsor and Jeep as the “Official Vehicle of WORS”. The KMC King of the Mountain Challenge events return with Treadfest added to the schedule. This year’s KMC’s will offer an opportunity for competitors to earn a call-up for Sunday’s WORS race. We are anxious to reunite with the current WORS community, look forward to meeting those who may be joining us for the first time, and welcome back those who may be returning after being away for awhile. As always welcome your input on anything WORS as we strive to continue to put on the best events and provide the best race experience possible in service of the greatest number of participants possible. We hope to see you on the start line!

phone number, name of race, category and age class, and place of finish. Mail info and check to: WORS, 8675 Rolling Hills Road, Custer, WI 54423. Mailed requests should be made within four weeks of an awards ceremony.

WORS SERIES SCORING

To be scored in WORS overalls, a competitor must have a series number and compete in a minimum of 5 series events (6 for Comp, Cat 1, and Pro) during 2017. For Citizen and Sport a competitor’s best 7 results will be used for tabulation of their final overall points. In the Comp, Cat 1, and Pro categories the best 8 results will be used. A competitor who competes in more than 7 events (8 for Comp, Cat 1, and Pro) will be awarded 5 bonus points per additional event completed (maximum of 20 points). DNF’s will remain 1 point. There are eleven scoring opportunities over ten races. In case of a tie, head-to-head results will be used to determine placing (first wins and then points if tie remains). If a tie still remains, a tie will be declared and both racers will receive equal awards, with the next place being dropped.

Special WORS Scoring for THE WORS CUP Participation in multiple events at the WORS Cup offers 2 scoring opportunities toward a racer’s overall. #1 - Series Racers competing in the Cross-

country will receive series overall points. The points awarded toward their overall will be determined by their placement against only other series racers within the class they are competing in according to the WORS Series Points Scale. Non-series riders are excluded from placement for series points for this event only. WORS Cup categories & classes may vary. Participation in the WORS Cup CrossCountry is required to be eligible for a second overall score.

#2 - The second scoring opportunity at

the WORS Cup comes from a series racer’s participation in either the Short Track and/ or the KMC Enduro. Series points will be awarded for a racer’s placing amongst racers from their WORS category within the Short Track or KMC Enduro age class (not normal WORS class) raced. For racers competing in both the Short Track and KMC Enduro the higher of the two points awarded will be

added to their series over, but not both.

VOLUNTEER POINTS: Series racers

who forfeit participation in a race to help run the event may qualify for volunteer points. To receive these points, a point total equal to a racers lowest scoring race excluding DNF’s, a racer must: 1) contact the race director at least 8 days in advance of the race to apply for acceptance to the race staff, 2) work a minimum of 5 hours on race day, and 3) pick up a VP (volunteer points) form from the WORS tent, fill it out, have their Race Director sign it and turn it in to WORS Timing & Scoring. A series competitor may include only one VP in their overall results. The VP will either replace a competitor’s lowest scoring event with a point value equal to the second lowest score or one equal to their lowest score depending upon the number of scoring events they have in their overall score. OVERALL POINTS: Points awarded at each individual WORS race toward series overall scores for Comp, Cat 1, and Pro overalls, as well as places within each age class for all categories, are listed in the WORS Series (Overall)

Point Scale table on the next page. Points awarded for Cat 1 age classes are awarded by combining overall finish points with age class finish points.

RULES WORS Races are sanctioned by USA Cycling. The USA Cycling Rule Book is available online at, https://www. usacycling.org/usa-cycling-rule-book.htm WORS Rules are located near the back of this handbook a. the exact page can be located in the Table of Contents on page 3. YEAR TWENTY-SIX

KING OF THE RING

READY FOR THE WEIGH-IN The champ is back for another round with a few new tricks and some classic moves to keep challengers on the ropes. Building on the lightest, most versatile production carbon crankset on the planet, the Next SL generation G4 couples CINCH compatibility with an elegant arm profile. G4 is lighter weight (430g – 32T Direct Mount) with improved lateral stiffness for 1x setups. If weight and stiffness are not enough of a one-two punch, then futureproofing your setup with the versatility of the CINCH system should be the knock out blow.

WORS Team Competition presented by

Mishlove and Stuckert, LLC

Whether you are a member of a large formalized team or just want to get your buds together to be a part of the fun, you will want to be a part of WORS Team Competition. The competition has 6 divisions with 1st through 3rd place* awards to the teams with the greatest number of entrants and to the teams with the greatest number of team points accumulated at the end of this year’s 12 race schedule.

2017

(*1st place requires 2 teams in the division, 2nd place 4 teams, and 3rd place 6 or more teams.) WORS highly encourages all mountain bikers to join a team. Doing so will help you increase your racing and riding enjoyment and your performance. Want to connect with a team in your area, contact WORS at don@wors.org or call (715) 592-5095 and we will do our best to get you a contact in your area.

Divisions

• Women’s: 5-8 Racers. (Registration fee: 10) women may race for a team in this division as well as one team in any of the other divisions. • Unlimited Team: Teams with more than 20 members compete in this division. (Registration fee: $50). $

• Large Team: 13-19 racers . (Registration fee $35). • Mid-Sized Team: 7-12 racers. (Registration fee: $25). • Small Team Division: 2-6 Racers. (Registration fee: $15). • Junior: Teams in this division will be made up of registered WORS racers 18 years of age (as of 12-31-16) and under. Team rosters for this division are limited to 10 or fewer racers and are encouraged to include 20% female racers. Multiple teams from the same shop, sponsor, etc. are strongly encouraged. (Registration fee: $10). Only racers registered with WORS and having a WORS Series

Number will score points for their team. A Team Competition Registration Form (along with team roster) must be turned into WORS and have each competitor’s WORS series number and name on the roster. • A registered WORS racer may only ride for one team. (This includes junior team members.) • A team may enter one or more teams in the Junior Division, but only one team in any of the other divisions. • All riders listed on a team’s roster will have that team’s name listed with their name on all WORS results postings. Team Changes: Competitors who change teams during the series should notify WORS as soon as possible after the change via a team modification form. The team points they have earned prior to notification will remain with their previous team. Team points cannot be contributed to their new team until the next year.

Registration

Team Registration must be completed by July 9th. Team points will be awarded retroactively through the date each team member began racing with a WORS series number. Team members who change categories during the season and reregister with WORS will receive credit for both categories. Pick up a team registration form from the WORS tent at a race or on the website at www.wors.org. Turn it in to WORS by July 9th, 2017. Team scores are figured retroactively back to the first race for which each team member had a 2017 WORS series number.

Team Scoring

Participants: To receive credit toward the “Participants” awards in WORS Team Competition a competitor must have a valid WORS series number and must either finish the race with a recorded time or report their DNF to timing the day of the race. Teams receive one point for each team member, meeting the above criteria, towards the “Participants” competition. Points: Points for the “Points” Class Multiplier competition of WORS Team Citizen Youth .6 Competition are figured by taking .9 the series overall points each team CITIZEN 1.2 member earns (see WORS Guidelines, SPORT 1.5 WORS Scoring) and multiplying those COMP 1.8 points by the class multiplier. No ELITE points are earned for DNFs or DNS’s. Only racers listed on the team roster accompanying their team registration form will be scored.

WISCONSIN OFF ROAD SERIES

ENGLEWOOD OPENER Englewood Farm ~ Fall River, WI Saturday, May 6th, 2017

We

at Englewood Grass Farm are thrilled to be the opening race of the 2017 WORS series. In partnership with Loft and Shove, it’s sure to be a fun-filled event WORS racers will never forget. We will be offering hayrides to designated spectating areas where you can cheer on your favorite racers as they traverse the farm in pursuit of racing glory. We will also be serving our delicious grass-fed beef on Saturday, so make sure to bring a cooler and stock up on some healthy, great tasting meats for this grilling season. There will be an expo area featuring our generous sponsors and great live music for the after party. Camping is free on Friday and Saturday night, with pre-riding starting at 3pm Friday and ending at 10 am on Saturday.

Course Description: With rock gardens, wood berms, downhill flow trails, punchy climbs, and plenty of passing opportunities, this course is designed specifically for xc racing.

About The Venue: We are asking everyone to follow a few simple rules to make sure we can keep this party going for years to come: • Do not touch the fences, they will shock you. • No dogs please. Because we are concerned for the safety of all our guests and our livestock, we respectfully ask that you leave your dogs home. Also, please leave the cows alone and do not open any gates. • No glass bottles. Broken glass is very dangerous to cattle, and very hard to clean up. Leave it like you found • Please keep it clean and use the trash bins we will have placed everywhere throughout the venue. We also ask that you leave your race flyers at home.

IOLA BUMP & JUMP Iola Winter Sports Area ~ Iola, WI Sunday, May 21st, 2017

The

Iola Bump and Jump race course evolves a little each year based on racer input, rider and spectator safety, and the condition of individual sections of the track. However, the overall character that makes this course a favorite of many remains constant. The start loop that takes racers up and around the back side of Iola’s 40 & 60 meter ski jumps and then drops back down past the lodge into the jump bowl may be the best lead-out in all of WORS. In addition, several minor singletrack modifications have been made to improve the racing experience for all. For the youngest novice racers, the Bump & Jump’s Kids Race course provides an opportunity for them to expand their skills. With the start and finish areas near the ski jumping bowl, the Bump and Jump offers spectators many fantastic opportunities to view their favorite riders. A post-race spaghetti dinner will be provided free of charge to all racers by the Iola Winter Sports Club, with other concessions available in the ski chalet. Onsite rough camping will be available for $10 per car first-come, first-serve. Nearby Iola Pines Campground provides full facilities, but fills up fast (see ad below for contact info). For more details and race registration information, please contact race director, Phil Johnsrud at 715-572-9884,

or johnsrudp@tds.net. Sponsoring the Iola Bump and Jump is always an enjoyable experience for the Iola Winter Sports Club volunteers because of the great attitude of WORS participants. Club members volunteer year after year to work the race and to be part of the fun and excitement that WORS brings to the small friendly community of Iola. The Iola Winter Sports Club’s mission is to carry on a ski jumping tradition, provide low cost youth and family ski programs, and provide high quality cross-country skiing for its members. Proceeds from the Iola Bump and Jump help the club continue to improve the facility. Race director, Phil Johnsrud and the Iola Winter Sports Club want to make this event the best it can be. If there is any way for them to make this race better for you, please let them know.

The new darling of the mountain bike world, Enduro presents as an evolution of Super D. While Enduro formats can differ widely the constant is multiple timed descents mixed with uphill transports that require participants to balance their choice of bike between downhill travel and climbing ease. Our King of the Mountain Challenge MOUNTAIN BIKE REGIONAL Enduro will feature two timed descents and two non-timed ascents utilizing the full length of Cascade Mountain’s CHAMPIONSHIPS vertical. Competitors start each of their two climbs from the bottom and, while the climbs are not timed, racers must check in at the top by 1:30 for Descent #1 and by 3;00 for Descent #2. Racer will descend individually at twenty second intervals. BATTLE OF CAMROCK CamRock Park #3 ~ Cambridge, WI Sunday, June 4th, 2017

Capital

Off-Road Pathfinders (CORP) has worked to build CamRock Park into one of the true gems of Wisconsin mountain biking. CORP is an IMBA-affiliated volunteer organization that builds and maintains all of the off-road cycling trails in and around Dane County. The Battle of CamRock will be a race to remember; a great race course and a separate race course just for the kids all within a festival atmosphere at beautiful CamRock County Park. Bring the family and prepare for a day of fun for all. Or come for the pre-ride and Saturday festivities and make a weekend of it with onsite camping or lodging right in town. The trail system at CamRock is an awesome blend of wide and fast flowing single-track that runs through open fields of prairie grass, wooded single-track with bermed turns and more technical singletrack with a touch of roots and rocks. The Battle of CamRock will be fun and challenging for all levels, Citizen to Elite, with fun single-track, great downhill, feed zones and, of course, the sprint to the finish. A $2.00 charge issued by Dane County Parks Department will be collected from each rider on race day prior to your race. Like us on Facebook at facebook.com/BattleOfCamrock. Stay up to date on all of the latest news. Or visit us at www. battleofcamrock.com. Don’t miss the race consistently voted as one of top courses on the entire WORS calendar!

MOUNT MORRIS CHALLENGE Nordic Mountain ~ Mt. Morris, WI Sunday, June 18th, 2017

Featuring

rolling hills, flowing singletrack and ripping downhills WORS and the Waushara Area Mountain Bike Association (WAMBA) present the Mount Morris Challenge at the Nordic Mountain ski area. The trail work at Nordic began in spring, 2006 with shovels and rakes. WORS Director, Don Edberg and Dave Reich along numerous other volunteers logged approximately 1000 man hours over two summers to construct the original 5-mile loop and the first WORS race on the trail was held in August of 2007. As the trails developed, the site hosted regional championships and multiple national Pro XCT events. With annual trail expansion, course designers can now tailor course design to each WORS category providing challenge and fun for all. WAMBA was established in 2011 to build and maintain trails in and around Waushara County. The Nordic trails are the focus

of mountain biking in the Fox Valley and WAMBA encourages the use of the trails free of charge all season long. For trail information follow us on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/ WausharaAreaMountainBikeAssociation/ Anyone interested in more information about recreational opportunities, lodging, dining, area attractions and upcoming events in Waushara County should visit www.wausharatourism.com or www.wausharachamber.com.

RED FLINT FIRECRACKER Eau Claire County Expo Center — Eau Claire, WI Sunday, June 25th, 2017

The

first Firecracker was held in 2005 and we’ve been welcoming racers every year since. CORBA remains hard at work to bring you some of the best racing in Wisconsin. We utilize this event as one of our primary fund raisers, which allows us to continue trail development on no less than SEVEN trail systems in the region. Your participation is a big part of making these trails happen, so thank you! The Firecracker weekend has plenty in store for you. On Friday you can set up camp, pre-ride and then grab some delicious wood-fired pizza onsite from the Foster’s Cheese Haus Firetruck. Saturday brings you course pre-rides, our popular All-You-Can-Eat pasta feed (a fund raiser for McDonnell High School cross country team) and s’mores by the bonfire. Race day kicks off with an amazing All-You-Can-Eat breakfast buffet (fundraiser) that will be sure to fuel you up. Post-race, grab some snacks in the Racer Lounge or hit up our concession stand, available all day Sunday. One thing we boast is “spectator-friendly” viewing areas. There are many sections of trail just a short walk from the Eau Claire County Expo and let’s not forget about the return of the Red Flint Brew View, our on-course beer tent!

Are you a runner? The fleet-of-foot can add to the weekend by signing up for the Firecracker Trail Run and choose between a 5K or 10K race on the same great trails. Not racing? We are always in need of volunteers, who also receive a swag bag PLUS a t-shirt! Please be sure to watch the CORBA website and our Facebook page for course updates and race enhancements that are still in progress. This Firecracker is always a blast!! All race proceeds go directly to CORBA, a 501c3 non-profit organization. CORBA builds and maintains the trails you are riding. A special thank you goes out to Lowes Creek County Park for their support of mountain biking and CORBA.

We bring value

where you need it most

Only the best builders, materials and service.

A challenging course snakes its way up, down, and around the moraines of Minooka Park. Racers will face steep climbing and flat out speed on a mix of flowy single track with huge berm turns, technical segments and flat out stretches that will approach road bike speeds. A mix of new and re-routed trails should increase flow and passing. Racers of all levels get the chance to experience a little of everything, including the “Bat Loop,” “Sooper Bole” and “Flat Tops” single track segments, as well as the blazing fast “Vista Cruise” single track in the prairie. This venue puts friends and family in perfect position to cheer on their favorite racers all day long.

HIXON FOREST EPIC Hixon Forest Park— La Crosse, WI Sunday, August 6th, 2017

Hixon

Forest Epic organizers and the City of La Crosse are excited to host the 8th event in the 26th year of Wisconsin Off Road Series racing. Hixon Forest is over 800 acres of bluffland overlooking the Mississippi River Valley in the heart of the Driftless Region--La Crosse, Wisconsin. In the early 1900s, a group of citizens including members of the Hixon family raised funds to purchase area blufflands to save them from additional quarrying and logging. Soon after deeds were exchanged, the lands were donated to the City for preservation and recreation. In modern times, the City of La Crosse Parks and Recreation Department works with local organizations to build and maintain world class trails and facilities for hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, and mountain biking. The City of La Crosse Parks and Recreation Department’s mission is to enrich our community through stewardship of the environment and through provision of quality recreation, facilities, and fun. Bringing the WORS races to La Crosse matches the mission and puts our city on the map as a mountain bike destination. Funds

are aggressively reinvested into our trail network in an effort to always be improving on our excellent opportunities for riding. Everyone is invited to live it up in La Crosse on Saturday for the preride, then venture into our historic city and explore. Those choosing to make their bed upon the bluffs are invited to a summertime night ride on the trails and a late night pump track jam session. The day of the event, excitement kicks off with the Hixon Forest Frolic 5K trail run, hosted by Grand Bluff Running. The popular Kids Race means you better bring your children along for fun, and bring your appetite because local food and craft beer vendors will be filling your plates and your pints! For event updates, “Like Us” on Facebook at HixonForestEpic.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

An uphill rolling meadow start to heat up the legs and spread out the pack. Sport, Comp, and Elite riders will endure the spectator-favorite downhill section followed by a long, steady climb up the Vista Trail. Racers can relax for only a short section of road riding before diving into the technical single-track portions of the course. Citizen and Junior courses maintain the characteristic Hixon challenges with significantly less climbing. All riders can expect to find thrilling challenges through rock gardens, root tangles, and punchy climbs with fast descents.

REFORESTATION RAMBLE Reforestation Camp ~ Suamico, WI Sunday, August 20th, 2017

The

Reforestation ramble will use a shorter more intense loop and is on the normal WORS race day time schedule as the feedback last year was super positive after the change. We are working on some new amenities. The kids course will be in a new kids bike playground. The course will again be majority single track but with enough 2 track to allow moves. With the shorter lap we will be using the South East Kingdom, Twister and Divas Ridge single track. Divas ridge should have a rock a rock garden and bypass by race day. The Reforestation camp is fast draining for the most part so hope for a little rain to tack up the track. The late August date serves as a nice peaking session for the Chequamegon 40, which takes place just a few weeks after the Ramble. Although Sunday is race day, be sure to stop out Saturday for pre-riding, the Vendor/Exhibitor Zone with Pete’s Garage, and Learn to Race clinics. Pre-riding will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. DO NOT ride the race course till the pre ride, the direction is opposite from normal in places so be safe. Ashwaubenon Nordic Ski Team (ANST) is proud to host this event again. We are planning on a party and feed on Saturday night as well with live music. Also, the trail run races are back on the race loop to start the day for the

runner in the family. It is a fund raiser for us but also is held for NE Wisconsin mountain bike community. ANST strives to make Nordic skiing affordable at the regional and national level and is the home of the Wisconsin girls champion and the second place boys and girls team in 2017. Thank our volunteers and find our donation can. Look for our great fall Bike race as well. The Stump Farm Trail Races are fifteen mile and 30 mile in late October and feature leaf free fall riding to extend your season and get you off the cross bike for a weekend. Brown County looks for trail fees from all riders. The fee is not included in you race entry. The annual pass is really inexpensive and is the way to go and feeds the development of these trails. Show us a trail pass and get a free coffee or a beer! Rough camping will be offered again. Look for the pay box and “park compact-see the map!”It cost money to host you like this so make it easy for us please. Check and like the Facebook event page for updates and additional events and promotions. please remember! Pets are not allowed at the Park due to the NEW Zoo being next door to the Reforestation Camp.

YEAR TWENTY-Six

WORS 65

WORS Rules to race by IT IS EACH AND EVERY COMPETITOR’S RESPONSIBILITY TO KNOW AND ABIDE BY THE RULES!

Ignorance of the Rules is NEVER an acceptable defense! ÊÊ Only registered racers may compete in a WORS event. An official WORS race number plate and back number with age class clearly marked must be displayed by each racer. No competitor shall cut, fold, mutilate, apply stickers to or alter in any way their WORS number plate. Numbers are not transferable. ÊÊ All competitors must wear a properly secured helmet, complying to DOT or CPSC Standards at all times during competition as well as when pre-riding or warming up on the course. Competitors must wear proper riding attire, including a shirt, shorts, and fully-enclosed shoes during competition. ÊÊ Each competitor is responsible for having their bike in good operating condition, including but not limited to: two fully-functioning brakes, plugged handlebar ends, NO hazardous attachments including kickstands and reflectors, adjusted hubs and headset, true wheels, and a sound frame (no cracks, severe bends or dents). Race and/or WORS officials may remove any racer from the start whom they feel is attempting to compete on an unsafe bike. Racers must start with and ride the same bike throughout any single event. ÊÊ Personal listening devices which may interfere with a racer’s awareness of other racers and their surroundings are strictly prohibited on the race course. ÊÊ All racers are required to be self-sufficient. Meaning that should a rider encounter a mechanical problem with their bike they must be carrying any and all parts and tools needed to make a repair and complete that repair without outside assistance. A racer is who is unable to meet this rule is expected to retire from the race or complete the race with their bike in as is condition. ÊÊ All Competitors must be self sufficient. All repairs during a race must be performed by the individual racers. Tools and spare parts used in a repair must be carried by the racer. No offcourse assistance is allowed and racers may not “cannibalize” or accept any parts off anyone else’s bike during a race. ÊÊ Deviation from the marked course will result in disqualification unless the competitor reenters the course at point of exit. This includes ducking under any flagging marking the boundaries of the finish chute. A competitor that purposely leaves the marked course during competition is deemed to have retired from the race and will be scored as a DQ or DNF. ÊÊ Feeding and/or “hand-ups” to a racer from a support person may occur on any part of the course with the following stipulations: 1) all those feeding must stand to the right just off course,

66 wors 2017

2) running with a racer is prohibited, 3) feeding must not interfere with another competitor. This is an override of USA Cycling Mountain rules and is in effect throughout WORS. ÊÊ Self feed bottle dispensers or the like must be located in a designated feed zone near the start of the lap. ÊÊ Any competitor littering the course with a gel packet, food wrappers or other waste will be disqualified! If you Packed it in, Pack it out! ÊÊ A competitor on their bike has the right-ofway over one pushing their bike. Whenever a competitor is off their bike, they need to make every effort to allow access to the fastest/most rideable part of the track to racers on their bikes. ÊÊ Lapped racers must yield the track immediately. A lapped racer by definition is one from the same starting wave as the overtaking racer. Other racers being overtaken should make every effort to let faster riders by as soon as the course allows. ÊÊ It is the responsibility of an overtaking rider to pass safely. No racer is expected to stop their race to allow other racers to pass. However, no rider shall intentionally impede the progress of another. A rider should make his/her presence known when overtaking a slower rider (i.e. “On your left. Please!”). Especially in singletrack, await return communication from the rider being overtaken that it is safe to pass. A rider passing another is expected to do so in a manner which requires the least accommodation from the rider being passed. ÊÊ The use of profanity or flagrant discourtesy directed at another competitor, race worker, or spectator is grounds for disqualification from an individual event, first offense, and WORS upon the second offense! ÊÊ Mountain biking is an individual sport, and even though WORS does have a team competition, entering into agreements or forming alliances (monetary or otherwise) to control or alter the results of a race will result in disqualification from that individual event. ÊÊ Pre-riding the race course after the start of the first race of the day is prohibited! On race day the only individuals riding bicycles on the race course should be those entered in the category(ies) competing at the time. Interference with another’s race by doing so is grounds for disqualification, (i.e. an Elite racer riding on the race course during the Sport race in such a way as to cause alteration of results or put Sport racers in danger). ÊÊ A race may be halted or rerouted by the race director or emergency personnel in case of severe injury to a rider or life threatening weather.

WISCONSIN OFF ROAD SERIES

Racers failing to heed the instruction of medical personal and/or course marshals attending to an injured rider will be disqualified! ÊÊ Protests of the results, the conduct of a racer, or any other matters related to the race, may only be filed by a competitor in the event or a race official. Protests must be reported to or filed with a timing official within 10 minutes of the completion of an event, initial posting of results in question, or a ruling to be considered valid. All results become final as of the presentation of awards. ÊÊ The sale of merchandise or display of products for promotional purposes at WORS events without the permission of WORS and the individual event director is prohibited. This includes but is not limited to banners, tents, and anything not permanently attached to a vehicle that a competitor has driven to an event. ÊÊ Ignorance of the RULES is NEVER an admissible defense! Read and know the rules. Final interpretation the Rules is up to the Event Director, WORS and/or the USA Cycling officials onsite. These individuals have control over all competitors, scorers, and officials at each WORS event and their decision on these rules, and any situations not specifically covered by these rules, is final! The intent of these rules of these rules is to maintain a safe and fair venue of competition http://usacycling.org/usacycling-rule-book.htm All WORS races are sanctioned by USA Cycling. USA Cycling rules not covered here may also apply. Please visit https://www.usacycling. org/usa-cycling-rule-book.htm to familiarize yourself with the USA Cycling Rule Book.

RULE ENFORCEMENT PROCEDURE Because officials are unable to witness the majority of rule infractions that may occur and because every participant is entitled to do process, there is a Protest Procedure for in place for a racer to request a rule enforcement leading to a penalty for another racer. 1. An individual who is certain a rule infraction has occurred should report it to an official and request a Protest Form. 2. The racer will fill out an return the form. 3. The racer should locate witness to support his or her claim and have them available for questioning by the official . 4. The official will work to locate the offending racer. 5. Both the protester’s and offending racer’s recollections along with any witness testimony and the official will render a judgement and/or rule explanation along with any warranted penalty.
