• Texas Tech resumes Big 12 Conference play Thursday evening when the Red Raiders open a three-game series with No. 15 Baylor at Getterman Stadium in Waco. The entire series will air live on FOX Sports Southwest Plus, beginning with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch on both Thursday and Friday evenings. The series concludes with a 12 p.m. start on Sunday afternoon. • The Red Raiders will be looking for their first Big 12 win of the season this weekend after being swept at the hands of No. 6 Oklahoma to open league play. • Despite dropping all three games in the Oklahoma series, Texas Tech managed to score 12 runs on a Sooner pitching staff that previously led the conference in ERA. Baylor now leads the Big 12 with a 2.22 team ERA. • Texas Tech is opening Big 12 play against back-to-back ranked opponents for the first time since 2011 when the Red Raiders started league action against No. 13 Missouri, No. 14 Oklahoma and No. 17 Baylor. All three series consisted of just two games. • Texas Tech will be looking for its first win over a ranked opponent since the Red Raiders closed the 2013 season with a 6-4 victory over then-No. 15 Baylor on May 4. Tech is 0-12 against top-25 foes since that game. • Texas Tech is 6-19 all-time against Baylor teams that are ranked in the top-25 of either major college softball polls. This will be the sixth-straight season where the Red Raiders have faced a ranked Baylor team. • The Red Raiders are currently in an 11-game stretch against ranked opponents as Texas Tech previously faced No. 18 Washington and No. 6 Oklahoma and is set for a three-game series with No. 23 Kansas following this weekend’s set at No. 15 Baylor. It is the longest streak of games against top-25 foes since Texas Tech played 13-consecutive games against ranked opponents in 2012. • Texas Tech currently boasts one of the most balanced offenses in the Big 12 as the Red Raiders ranked second for home runs (36) and stolen bases (70), third for runs scored (216) and RBI (200) and then fourth with a .319 team batting average. • The Red Raiders enter the Baylor series with six position starters hitting .300 or better this year, led by Jordan Bettiol, who has totaled a .407 clip to this point that ranks among the Big 12 leaders.
