The series began on Sept. 23, 1967, a 52-0 Tech win in Lubbock. • Texas Tech owns a current three-game win streak against Iowa State including a 24-13 win in 2012, 42-35 victory in 2013 and last year’s 34-31 win. The series’ last two games were decided by seven points or less. • The Red Raiders will be hosting Iowa State on Homecoming where Texas Tech holds a 53-29-3 all-time record. • This is first time Texas Tech has not faced a preseason AP top25 team since defeating UTEP, 69-20, on Sept. 12. • Texas Tech enters its sixth game of the year averaging 50.0 points per game, a mark that ranks No. 3 nationally and No. 3 in the Big 12 Conference. • Texas Tech’s 250 points through its first five games are its most since the Red Raiders totaled 273 points in the same span to open the 2007 season. • Texas Tech’s 250 points mark the third most over the first five games of a season in school history (273 in 2007, 263 in 2005 and 250 in 2015). • Texas Tech has now scored 30 or more points in five straight games against top-5 ranked teams dating back to the 2011 season. • DeAndre Washington needs 79 rushing yards to pass Baron Batch (2006, 2008-10) for eighth all-time in the Texas Tech career record book.
