• Texas Tech will face its fourth-consecutive ranked opponent this weekend as the Red Raiders host No. 25 Kansas in a three-game series that begins at 6 p.m. Friday evening at Rocky Johnson Field. The series will continue with a 4 p.m. start on Saturday and an 11 a.m. first pitch Sunday. • The Red Raiders will be looking to snap an eight-game losing streak against the Jayhawks, all of which that have come against ranked opponents. Kansas is the lowest-ranked top-25 team to face Texas Tech so far this season. • Texas Tech’s 11-game streak against ranked opponents marks its longest stretch against top-25 foes since the Red Raiders played 13-consecutive games in 2012. Tech began the streak versus No. 18 Washington before opening league play against No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 15 Baylor. • Texas Tech is opening Big 12 play against three-consecutive ranked opponents for the first time since 2011 when the Red Raiders started league action against No. 13 Missouri, No. 14 Oklahoma and No. 17 Baylor. All three series consisted of just two games. • This will be the first time Texas Tech has faced a ranked Kansas team since the 2003 season when the Jayhawks swept a two-game series on April 5-6. The Red Raiders are 0-3 all-time in the series when Kansas is ranked as Texas Tech’s first-ever game against a top-25 team was a 6-2 loss to the 17-ranked Jayhawks on March 1, 1996. • Texas Tech will be looking for its first win over a ranked opponent since the Red Raiders closed the 2013 season with a 6-4 victory over then-No. 15 Baylor on May 4. Tech is 0-15 against top-25 foes since that game. • The Red Raiders are coming off a pair of three-game sweeps the past two weekends at the hands of No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 15 Baylor. Texas Tech came close to its first conference win of the season last Saturday before falling 6-5 in extra innings to Baylor. • The end of the Kansas series will complete the first half of Big 12 Conference play as the Red Raiders will only have three series remaining with road trips to Oklahoma State (April 17-19) and Iowa State (May 1-3) as well as a home set against in-state rival Texas (April 24-26). • The Kansas weekend will also serve as Alumni Weekend as over 20 former Red Raiders will return to Lubbock, including former All-American pitcher Amanda Renfro, the only player in school history to have her number retired.
