FIRST PITCH • No. 7 Texas Tech returns to the road Tuesday night when the Red Raiders open a two-game midweek series at New Mexico. First pitch against the Lobos is slated for 7 p.m. CT on Tuesday night and then 2 p.m. CT on Wednesday. Both games will be broadcast online through Campus Insiders. • Texas Tech enters the New Mexico series with a 29-9 overall record, marking its best start to a season since the Red Raiders were 30-8 over the first 38 games of the 1999 campaign. • Texas Tech will be looking to record its third-straight 30 win season Tuesday night as the Red Raiders had not previously reached the 30-win plateau over three-consecutive seasons since doing so over 14-straight years from 1993-2006. • Texas Tech enters this week riding a nine-game winning streak, its longest since the Red Raiders recorded 16-consecutive victories from April 13-May 22, 2002. Tech has also won 18 of its last 20 games with its only losses coming in midweek conests at UNLV and then-No. 5 Florida State. • The Red Raiders are 8-3 this season in midweek contests as Texas Tech is averaging 9.7 runs per Zach Davis finished 3-for-4 with four runs scored, two RBI and a cagame in those games. four stolen bases on March • The Red Raiders faced New Mexico once already this season as Texas Tech handed the Lobos a reer-high 22 against New Mexico. 14-10 setback on March 22 in Lubbock. Tech combined to steal six bases in the win, four of which that came from Zach Davis. • Tuesday night will mark the 112th all-time meeting between Texas Tech and New Mexico on a baseball diamond. It is currently the second-longest series against a non-conference opponent in school history, trailing only the 113 previous contests between Tech and Rice. • The Red Raiders are coming off an undefeated five-game homestand that included a midweek sweep of Sam Houston State and a three-game sweep of San Diego State. The successful week improved Texas Tech to 17-4 at home this season. • The New Mexico series ends a seven-game stretch against non-conference opponents for the Red Raiders, who resume Big 12 play this weekend with a three-game series at home against in-state rival Texas. Texas Tech sits atop the conference standings thanks to an 11-1 start to league play which includes wins in each of its last 10 games. It marks the best start to Big 12 play in school history and the best for a conference team since Baylor opened the 2012 league slate with 18-consecutive victories.
