FIRST PITCH • Texas Tech returns to Big 12 Conference play this weekend when the Red Raiders begin a threegame series against Oklahoma. The series begins with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch Thursday night at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park. • The Red Raiders are already 2-1 in Big 12 play this season but will be facing an Oklahoma team that will be opening conference action. This is the second-straight season where the Sooners have begun league play against Texas Tech. • The Red Raiders enter the series with wins in five of their last six games after winning the finale at No. 9 California and taking two-of-three games last weekend at Baylor. Texas Tech also defeated UT Arlington and New Mexico in midweek action during that span. • Texas Tech swept a three-game series against the Sooners in their last visit to Lubbock in 2014 as the Red Raiders out-scored the Sooners, 37-13, on the weekend. • Texas Tech head coach Tim Tadlock spent six seasons (2006-11) at Oklahoma before returning to his alma mater as associate head coach in 2012.
