• Texas Tech, coming off back-to-back Big 12 Conference series wins, returns to Rocky Johnson Field this weekend, hosting in-state rival Texas in a three-game series that begins at 6 p.m. Friday evening. The two teams will face each other again at 2 p.m. Saturday and then 12 p.m. Sunday.

• Saturday’s contest will air live on FOX Sports Net with Dave Barnett and Tracy Warren on the call and Courtney Davis reporting from both dugouts.

• The Red Raiders are coming off a three-game sweep over Oklahoma State, Texas Tech’s first series win over the Cowgirls in Stillwater since the 2007 season. It was the third three-game sweep of a Big 12 opponent in school history.

• The sweep of Oklahoma State followed a series win the weekend before against then-No. 25 Kansas, marking the first time Texas Tech had defeated a ranked opponent since defeating No. 15 Baylor, 6-4, in the final game of the 2013 season. The Red Raiders had previously dropped each of their past 15 games against top-25 foes prior to the Kansas series opener.

• Texas Tech is looking to win three-straight Big 12 weekend series for just the second time since the 1998 season.

The Red Raiders previously claimed series wins last year over Oklahoma State, Kansas and Iowa State in consecutive weekends.

• The Red Raiders enter the Texas series riding a season-best four game winning streak. Texas Tech also won four-straight games on Feb. 20-21 this year during the UT Arlington Invitational.

• Texas Tech will be looking to extend its winning streak to five-straight games on Friday. It would mark the fourth time in school history where the Red Raiders have won five-straight games in Big 12 play. Tech also picked up fivestraight wins over conference foes in 2008 and 2014 and recorded a school-record six game winning streak in 1998.

• The Red Raiders are 2-2 so far this season in Big 12 Conference series openers. Texas Tech has struggled in middle games, though, going on 1-3 thus far.

• Texas Tech will honor its five seniors - Kristi Belshe, Cara Custer, Derryn Hebert, Lea Hopson and Chandler Moore in a ceremony following Sunday’s series finale. Belshe and Hopson both transferred to Tech prior to the 2014 season while Custer, Hebert and Moore have spent their entire collegiate career as Red Raiders.

Texas Tech and Texas will meet for the 40th time in program history during Friday’s series opener. The Longhorns have historically controlled the series against the Red Raiders with a 32-7 all-time advantage, including a 15-2 mark in games played in Lubbock. The Red Raiders, who last defeated their in-state rival at home on April 11, 2012, with a 5-2 victory, enter the series having lost five of the past six games against Texas dating back to the 2013 season.

MEDIA CREDENTIALS Media members covering the Texas Tech softball program at Rocky Johnson Field during the 2015 season must be issued a working credential from the Texas Tech Athletics Communications office. All requests for both media and photo credentials must be made either in writing or via e-mail at least a day in advance to Matt Dowdy.

VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS/NEWS CONFERENCES Video from news conferences and games will be available to the media via FTP. Broadcast quality video footage (game highlights, post-practice interviews, post-game interviews, etc) are available at www.ttumedia.com. Please contact the athletics communications office for login instructions.

POSTGAME INTERVIEWS Texas Tech players and head coach Adrian Gregory will be available to the media outside the team clubhouse area following a brief cooling off period. The Texas Tech locker room will remain closed.

PRESS BOX SERVICES A complete NCAA box score and pertinent game facts will be distributed to members of the working media following the conclusion of the game. Game notes, statistics, lineups, and rosters are provided prior to first pitch. A pregame meal is also served in the press box 45 minutes prior to first pitch.

Such media entity may not offer any live video, audio or other coverage of the event without the advance, written permission of Texas Tech University Athletics.

This policy includes all games, matches and events involving any of Texas Tech’s athletic programs. It includes all media events -- press conferences, pre/post-practice interviews and pre/post-game interviews. An exception would be a one-on-one interview arranged through the Texas Tech Athletics Communications office with a Texas Tech, coach, athlete or administrator.

The Red Raiders had a chance to claim their first series win over the Longhorns in school history a year ago after downing Texas, 6-5, in the second game of the series. Texas rebounded, however, with a 7-3 victory in the finale. The Longhorns previously posted an 8-6 victory to open the series.

Similar to this weekend’s matchup, neither of the two teams were ranked in the top 25 of the NFCA poll when they faced each other a year ago. This is the first time in series history where the two teams have both been unranked entering the series in back-to-back seasons.

2015 TEXAS TECH SOFTBALL ON DECK Texas Tech closes the regular season next weekend with a three-game series at Iowa State on May 1-3. The rest of the Big 12 will conclude league action on May 8-10 in anticipation to the NCAA Selection Show that will air at 9 p.m. CT on May 10.

TEXAS TECH UNDER FIRST YEAR HEAD COACH ADRIAN GREGORY • Adrian Gregory is just the second Texas Tech first-year head coach to win four-straight games during Big 12 play. Shanon Hays also won four-consecutive games against conference foes late in the 2010 season.

• Texas Tech’s series win over No. 25 Kansas made Adrian Gregory just the third first-year head coach in school history to record at least two wins over a ranked opponent during their debut season, joining Bobby Reeves (2001-04) and Shanon Hays (2010-14).

• Adrian Gregory is only the second Texas Tech head coach to record a pair of wins in a series against a ranked Big 12 opponent, joining Shanon Hays who defeated No. 7 Oklahoma State twice in 2010.

• Adrian Gregory is the only first-year head coach in Texas Tech history to open Big 12 Conference play against a ranked opponent in three-consecutive series.

• The Red Raiders have rallied from deficits to win eight times already this season under Adrian Gregory. Texas Tech overcame an early two-run deficit in the series finale against Oklahoma State.

NEWS AND NOTES FROM AROUND THE DIAMOND • Texas Tech currently ranks 16th nationally in stolen bases per game as the Red Raiders are averaging 1.84 per game. That average also ranks second in the Big 12.

• All eight of Texas Tech’s runs in the series finale against Oklahoma State came with two outs in the inning. Four different Red Raiders - Brooke Scott, Jordan Bettiol, Ashley Fultz and Kristi Belshe - drove in runs in the 8-4 victory. The Red Raiders are hitting .332 as a team this season with two outs and .351 with runners in scoring position.

• Texas Tech has averaged just over seven runs per game over the last two weekends as the Red Raiders are hitting .335 as a team during that span.

• Texas Tech’s 44 runs over its last six Big 12 contests are the most for a Big 12 team during that span.

• The Red Raiders have been significantly better defensively during Big 12 play as Texas Tech has committed just eight errors in 12 conference games. Texas Tech’s .976 fielding percentage in league action currently ranks third in the Big 12. The Red Raiders previously committed 44 errors for a .952 fielding percentage in non-conference play.

• Seven different Red Raiders are hitting over .300 over the past six games - Kristi Belshe (.435), Jordan Bettiol (.417), Kierra Miles (.391), Ashley Fultz (.389), Susan Welborn (.385), Brooke Scott (.333) and Lea Hopson (.318).

• Texas Tech is the only Big 12 program to open conference play against three-straight ranked opponents as the Red Raiders previously faced No. 6 Oklahoma, No. 15 Baylor and then No. 25 Kansas.

• Texas Tech’s previous 11-game streak against ranked opponents was its longest since the Red Raiders played 13-consecutive contests versus top-25 foes in 2012.

TEXAS TECH INDIVIDUAL NOTES • Lea Hopson connected on her team-leading 11th home run of the season against Oklahoma State, moving the senior into a tie for 10th in Texas Tech single-season history with Sandy James (2012) and Elyssa Sigala (2004).

• Lea Hopson’s home run marked the 18th of her career, moving her into a tie for eighth place in the Texas Tech career record book with Emily Bledsoe (2009-12).

• Lea Hopson recorded her 30th career stolen base in the Oklahoma State series, moving her into a tie for seventh place all-time in Texas Tech history with Stephanie Walls (1997-99).

• Kierra Miles connected on her eighth home run of the season against Oklahoma State, giving her 15 career home runs now in almost two seasons. She is one home run shy of matching Cydney Allen (2011-12) for 11th place in school history.

• Kierra Miles leads the Red Raiders with 41 RBI this year, three shy of matching Montana Patin (2008) and Cassie McClure (2014) for ninth all-time in Texas Tech single-season history.

• Kierra Miles recorded her 100th career hit on April 19 with a RBI single through the right side that gave Texas Tech an early 1-0 lead over Oklahoma State. She has compiled a .329 batting average during her nearly two full seasons as a Red Raider.

• Kierra Miles recorded her third triple of the season in the series finale against Baylor, matching Devon Thomey for the team high. It is only the second time in school history where two Red Raiders have totaled at least three triples in a season as Lea Hopson and Sydni Emanuel both posted three a year ago.

• Kierra Miles and Devon Thomey both need one more triple to match the Texas Tech single-season record that has been previously set by Kim Martinez (1997), Denise Jackson (1997-98) and Leah Leagler (2008).

• Jordan Bettiol leads all Red Raiders with a .389 batting average so far this season. That average would currently rank third all-time in Texas Tech history behind Kim Martinez (1997) and Sydni Emanuel (2014).

• Jordan Bettiol currently ranks third in the Big 12 with 58 hits this year, trailing only Brittany Gomez (Iowa State) and Shelby Davis (Oklahoma State). Kiierra Miles ranks sixth in the league with 51 hits of her own.

• Jordan Bettiol needs four more hits to match Emily Bledsoe (2010-11) for 10th all-time in Texas Tech single-season history.

• Cara Custer tossed her team-leading 12th complete game of the season in Texas Tech’s 9-1 run-rule victory over Oklahoma State. It was also the 39th complete game of Custer’s career which moved her into sole possession of fourth place in the Tech career record book.

• Cara Custer currently leads the Big 12 in innings pitched (175.1), appearances (38) and games started (26). She has been Texas Tech’s starting pitcher in nine of 12 Big 12 games heading into the Texas series.

• Cara Custer became just the third Red Raider in school history to make 100 career starts, joining Amanda Renfro (1998-01) and Ashly Jacobs (2007-10). She reached that mark in the series opener against Kansas where she earned a no-decision in an 8-7 victory.

• Cara Custer is 23 strikeouts shy of matching Ashly Jacobs (2007-10) for second all-time in Texas Tech history. Custer has recorded 447 strikeouts over three-plus seasons, including 95 so far this year which ranks fifth currently in the Big 12.

• Kristi Belshe’s two-run single that gave Texas Tech a 6-4 lead in the series finale against Oklahoma State marked the eighth time in her career where she’s driven in the game-winning run. Her eight career game-winning RBI hits lead the team.

CUSTER TABBED BIG 12 PITCHER OF THE WEEK Cara Custer was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday after picking up a pair of victories this past weekend in a series sweep at Oklahoma State. This is the first time in Custer’s career where she has garnered a Big 12 weekly award. She is the fifth Red Raider all-time to receive Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors and the first since Gretchen Aucoin on April 29 last year. Custer went 2-0 with a 1.66 earned-run average against the Cowgirls, leading the Red Raiders to their third threegame sweep of a Big 12 opponent in school history and their first series win over Oklahoma State in Stillwater since 2007.

BETTIOL TURNS IN #SCTOP10 CATCH AT BAYLOR Jordan Bettiol turned in one of the top catches of the season in the series opener at Baylor as the junior outfielder ranged from her spot in centerfield to make a fully-extended diving catch to start the second inning. The catch, which likely robbed Baylor of at least a leadoff double, appeared later that evening on an episode of SportsCenter where it was ranked as the No. 10 play of the day. It was one of several great defensive plays from Bettiol this season as she previously stole a home run from Oklahoma’s Shelby Pendley with a leaping catch at the wall.

TEXAS TECH OFF TO THE RACES - AGAIN Since taking over the Texas Tech softball program last summer, Adrian Gregory has insisted she wants the Red Raiders to be among the most aggressive teams in the country on the base paths. Through the first two-thirds of the season, the first-year head coach has succeeded on that goal as the Red Raiders are currently second in the Big 12 Conference with 83 stolen bases, eight of which that came Feb. 28 against Memphis, tying the Tech single-game record that was previously set on March 17, 2001, against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Tech is on pace to possibly snap the single-season school record for a second-straight year as well as its 83 stolen bases are six more than the Red Raiders had totaled through 45 games in 2014.

Tech has had 12 different players swipe a bag so far this season, led by Brooke Scott who already has a career-high 15 stolen bases. The Red Raiders currently rank 16th nationally in stolen bases per game.

Tech previously opened the stretch against No. 18 Washington on March 19 before beginning Big 12 play with back-to-back series against No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 15 Baylor. The 11-game stretch against ranked opponents is the longest since the Red Raiders played 13-consecutive games against top-25 foes in 2012.

HOPSON BELTS THREE HOME RUNS IN MCHANEY CLASSIC TO JOIN TEXAS TECH ALL-TIME LEADERS Lea Hopson connected on three home runs during the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic en route to moving the senior into the top 10 all-time in Texas Tech history. Hopson, who has already jumped into the top 10 for career stolen bases this year as well, has 11 home runs this season after hitting her 11th against Oklahoma State. Hopson now has 18 home runs for her career which is tied for eighth in program history with Emily Bledsoe (2009-12). She entered the Tech single-season record book against the Cowgirls as well, moving into a tie for 10th place with Sandy James (2012) and Elyssa Sigala (2004).

Cydney Allen (2011-12) 16 BETTIOL’S IMPRESSIVE START PLACES HER AMONG BIG 12 LEADERS Jordan Bettiol remains among the Big 12 leaders in hits this week as she has totaled 58 base knocks already this season, which ranks third in the conference heading into the fifth weekend of conference play. Bettiol, who leads the Red Raiders with a .389 average, has posted 16 multiple-hit games already this year, one more than teammate Kierra Miles. Bettiol is looking to become just the third Red Raider in program history to hit over .400 in a season, joining the likes of Kim Martinez (1997) and Sydni Emanuel (2014). In addition to being among the conference in hits, Bettiol also ranks among the league leaders in runs scored (38) and stolen bases (14).

THOMEY FINDING THE GAPS EARLY IN THE YEAR Through most of this season, Devon Thomey has discovered there aren’t many gaps in an outfield she cannot find. Thomey, a sophomore transfer from New Mexico State, is among Texas Tech’s leaders with a .597 slugging percentage after recording 18 extra-base hits throug 45 games. Thomey has powered five home runs already this season to go along with a 10 doubles and three triples while also stealing 12 bases as Texas Tech’s normal designated player. She currently ranks tied for fifth in the Big 12 with her 10 doubles.

HOPSON ENTERS TOP 10 IN CAREER STOLEN BASES Lea Hopson moved into the top 10 in career stolen bases on March 11 as the senior swiped three bags against UTEP, moving her into the top 10 in Texas Tech career history. Hopson has totaled 30 stolen bases in almost two seasons, placing her in a tie for seventh place all-time in Texas Tech history with Stephanie Walls (1997-99). She needs six more stolen bases to match the totals of Emily Bledsoe (2009-12) and Sydni Emanuel (2014) for fifth place. She has nine stolen bases already this year after totaling 21 a year ago which ranked tied for sixth all-time in Texas Tech single-season history.

Tech trailed by as many as five runs on March 7 in its 13-9 come-from-behind victory over UT Martin. It marked the second time this season where the Red Raiders have overcome a five-run deficit to win as Tech previously trailed UT Arlington by a similar margin on Feb. 20 before pulling off a 10-6 victory.

FULTZ, THOMEY BOTH CONNECT ON GRAND SLAMS AGAINST UT ARLINGTON Texas Tech’s ability to hit the long ball was on full display March 8 against UT Arlington as the Red Raiders went deep three times, highlighted by a pair of grand slams by Ashley Fultz and Devon Thomey, the first in each of their careers. Fultz erased an early two-run deficit with her grand slam in the first inning. Thomey, meanwhile, provided the game-winning runs, breaking up a 5-5 tie in the fourth with her grand slam to center field that was part of a nine-run inning for the Red Raiders. It is believed to be the first time in school history where Tech has connected on two grand slams in the same game.

MILES RECORDS CAREER-HIGH SIX RBI AGAINST UT MARTIN Kierra Miles recorded her best performance as a Red Raider to date on March 7 in Texas Tech’s 13-9 come-from-behind victory over UT Martin as she finished 4-for-5 against the Skyhawks while driving in a career-high six RBI. Miles, who ended just a home run shy of the cycle, also notched a career high for hits with a two-run triple in the third, a RBI single in the fourth and then a pair of doubles in the sixth and seventh innings. Miles currently ranks among the Big 12 leaders with a team-best 32 RBI this season.

BETTIOL NAMED BIG 12 PLAYER OF THE WEEK Texas Tech junior Jordan Bettiol was named the Big 12 Player of the Week on Feb. 24 after she reached in 13 of 16 plate appearances at the UT Arlington Invitational. Bettiol hit a team-leading .769 (10-for-13) over the course of the weekend, helping lead the Red Raiders (9-6) to a 4-0 showing with wins over the likes of DePaul, a preseason top-25 team, as well as host UT Arlington. The Nebraska transfer recorded at least two hits in three of Tech’s four games with the only exception coming in a 12-0 rout of Prairie View A&M. Bettiol finished 1-for-1 overall against the Panthers with a pair of walks and two stolen bases. Bettiol totaled an impressive .813 on-base percentage to go along with an .846 slugging percentage over the four games. She also stole four bases and drove in four runs, two of which that came in a 9-1 run-rule of DePaul in the tournament opener Friday.

BETTIOL RECORDS IMPRESSIVE AVERAGE TO START THE SEASON Jordan Bettiol made quite the debut over the first 15 games of the season as the junior transfer from Nebraska totaled a team-leading .500 (24-for-48) batting average in that span. Dating back to the 2007 season, her average was the highest for a Red Raider who has played in each of the first 15 games of a season. Bettiol, who is currently hitting .425 for the season, leads all Red Raiders with 13 multiple-hit games already this year, three of which that came at the UT Arlington Invitational.

The College Station, Texas native enters this weekend ranked second in the Big 12 Conference with 45 base hits. She also ranks among the conference leaders in runs scored, stolen bases and on-base percentage.

RED RAIDERS RECORD 600TH CAREER WIN IN PROGRAM HISTORY OVER MONTANA Texas Tech’s second win of the season - an 8-5 decision over Montana - marked the 600th in program history as the Red Raiders are now 600-652-4 overall. Tech, now in its 24th season of softball, started its program in 1981 before disbanding it following the 1985 season. Softball returned as a sponsored intercollegiate sport in 1996 with the start of the Big 12.

RED RAIDERS OPEN 2015 WITH COME-FROM-BEHIND WIN OVER NEW MEXICO STATE In just its first game of the 2015 season, Texas Tech proved that no lead was safe, even after six innings. The Red Raiders, facing a 3-2 deficit in the top of the seventh against New Mexico State, used a three-run inning to pull off a 5-3 victory over the Aggies, the first in the career of head coach Adrian Gregory. Devon Thomey highlighted the come-from-behind victory with a two-run double to the wall in center field that scored both Susan Welborn and Kristi Belshe. Tech previously tied the game on a wild pitch that allowed Brooke Scott to scamper home from third base. It marked only the third time since the start of the 2012 season where the Red Raiders have won despite trailing at the start of the seventh inning.

THOMEY TURNS IN MEMORABLE OPENING DAY IN RETURN TO LAS CRUCES Opening Day for Devon Thomey was not just an opportunity for a fresh start with Texas Tech but also a chance to return to New Mexico State where she played her 2014 freshman season. Thomey made the most of her return by going 4-for-7 with six RBI in an Opening Day doubleheader against New Mexico State and Montana. The performance included the game-winning hit against the Aggies as Thomey drilled a double to center field in the seventh inning that scored both Susan Welborn and Kristi Belshe and gave Tech a 5-3 lead it would not relinquish. Thomey followed up by going 3-for-3 with four RBI later that evening against Montana, finishing a double shy of the cycle after a RBI triple in the second and then a two-run homer, the first in her collegiate career in the fourth inning. Her six RBI on the day were one more than her entire total from 2014.

CUSTER MOVES TO SECOND ALL-TIME IN WINS WITH WIN OVER NEW MEXICO STATE All it took was seven innings into the 2015 season for Cara Custer to move into sole possession of second place for wins in the Texas Tech career record book. Custer, a native of Tacoma, Washington, tossed seven strong innings in the season opener against New Mexico State where she picked up career win No. 52 to pass Ashly Jacobs (2007-10) for second all-time in program history. Adrian Gregory 2015 at New Mexico State W, 5-3 GREGORY BECOMES FIRST NEW BIG 12 HEAD COACH SINCE 2010 The Big 12 Conference will have a first-year head coach roaming the third base baseline for the time since 2010 this season with new Red Raider skipper Adrian Gregory. The last time the conference had a new head coach making a debut came in 2010 when current Kansas skipper Megan Smith and former Texas Tech head coach Shanon Hays joined the league. The conference has not experienced much turnover in the coaching ranks during its existence as Oklahoma’s Patty Gasso and Texas’ Connie Clark have been with both programs since before the league formed in 1996 while Baylor head coach Glenn Moore is entering his 15th season leading the Lady Bears.

TEXAS TECH STARTS ITS SEASON ON THE ROAD The Red Raiders will become accustomed to life on the road throughout the month of February as Texas Tech will play its first 19 games of the season away from home. Following its trip to Las Cruces, N.M., Tech will also travel to tournaments at Texas State, UT Arlington and McNeese State. The Red Raiders open their home slate on March 6 with a doubleheader against Utah Valley and UT Martin to begin the Texas Tech Invitational. The 19-game road trip is the longest Tech has gone to start the year without playing at home since the Red Raiders traveled for the first 22 games of the 2009 season.

BETTIOL, THOMEY TRANSFER TO TEXAS TECH Both Devon Thomey and Jordan Bettiol will join the Red Raider program this season after transferring to Texas Tech this past fall. Thomey and Bettiol were two of the first signees Adrian Gregory secured soon after being named Texas Tech’s head coach last June. Thomey played one season at New Mexico State where she hit .309 with five RBI and 14 runs scored in 2014.

Bettiol, meanwhile, sat out the 2014 season after garnering second team All-Big Ten honors in 2013 after hitting .274 for the Huskers, including a team-high .400 clip during conference play alone. Her performance both at the plate and in the outfield helped lead Nebraska to the NCAA Women’s College World Series for the seventh time in program history.

MCDONALD, LOCKE JOIN GREGORY AS PART OF INAUGURAL STAFF Soon after her hire last June as the seventh head coach in Texas Tech history, Adrian Gregory first act was to quickly assemble a highly-successful coaching staff around her. She succeeded with the hires of associate head coach Sharonda McDonald and assistant coach Amanda Locke. Two highly successful athletes during their respective playing careers, both McDonald and Locke were hired weeks following Gregory taking the position and immediately hit the ground running on the recruiting trail. McDonald, a former teammate of Gregory at Texas A&M, arrives at Tech after spending the previous two seasons as the volunteer assistant coach at LSU while Locke comes from Northwestern State where she served as pitching coach the past two years.

HOPSON, SCOTT ELECTED CO-CAPTAINS FOR 2015 The Red Raiders elected a pair of team captains prior to the seasons in senior Lea Hopson and junior Brooke Scott. In addition to being named a team captain, the duo will likely former the middle part of Texas Tech’s infield with Scott starting at second while Hopson will move to shortstop after spending the entire 2014 season at second. The two could also switch positions from time-to-time throughout the season as well. The two captains were elected in a vote by their teammates.

BELSHE MAKES MOVE BEHIND THE PLATE Possibly the biggest change for Texas Tech this season defensively will be seen behind the plate as senior Kristi Belshe added catching responsibilities this past fall. Belshe, who started primarily in left field as a junior, will split duties behind the plate with sophomore Brittany Lee, who similarly will see action at multiple positions across the diamond this season. Belshe arrived at Tech in 2014 after earned NJCAA All-American honors at Lake Land College in Illinois. She is the first Red Raider in program history to hail from the state of Hawaii.

HOPSON RETURNS WITH SPEED ON THE BASE PATHS Lea Hopson’s return for her senior season is plus for the Red Raiders in two ways. It gives Texas Tech a leader in the clubhouse as a team captain and also provides head coach Adrian Gregory some additional speed on the base paths. Hopson, who joined the Tech program last season after transferring from the College of Southern Idaho, finished 21-for-24 in stolen base attempts a year ago, ranking sixth overall in the Big 12. Among conference players returning this season, Hopson ranks third overall in the league only behind Shelby Davis (Oklahoma State) and Brittany Gomez (Iowa State).

Lea Hopson (TTU) 21 GREGORY COMPILES CHALLENGING NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE In Adrian Gregory’s mind, “to be the best, you have to play the best.” The first-year head coach is going to put that motto to the test this season as Texas Tech significantly bolstered its non-conference schedule with games scheduled against four opponents in the preseason top-25 rankings. The Red Raiders will face No. 18 Nebraska early in the year on Feb. 7 before turning around two weeks later to face No. 25 DePaul twice on Feb. 20-22. Tech will also host No. 21 Tulsa for a pair of games on March 13-14 before closing non-conference play at No. 11 Washington, a NCAA Women’s College World Series participant a year ago. Including Big 12 games, the Red Raiders will face a total of nine opponents this season who advanced to a NCAA Regional a year ago.

RED RAIDERS SELECTED TO FACE TEXAS ON FOX SPORTS NET The April 25 softball game between Texas Tech and Texas at Rocky Johnson Field will air regionally on FOX Sports Net, the Big 12 Conference announced prior to the season. This is believed to be FSN’s first trip to Lubbock for a softball game since the network began covering the sport several years ago. The Red Raiders are no stranger to television coverage, though, with previous appearances on both FSN and ESPN. FSN also announced it will carry the April 18 game between Oklahoma and Baylor in Norman. The rest of the Big 12 television schedule will be announced Tuesday afternoon when ESPN releases its television picks for the entire 2015 season.
