IT ALL COMES DOWN TO ARLINGTON The chance to extend the season is on the line Saturday when Texas Tech and Baylor meet in the Texas Farm Bureau Shootout at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Both schools enter the game at 5-6 overall as the winner will become bowl eligible. n For the Red Raiders, Tech is looking to become bowl eligible for the 39th time in program history and the fourth time under Kliff Kingsbury. Tech ranks 20th nationally and third in the Big 12 in all-time bowl appearances, trailing only Texas and Oklahoma among league peers. Kingsbury is looking to become the fourth head coach in school history to lead Texas Tech to at least four bowl appearances. n

ONE MORE TIME AT AT&T STADIUM This will be the final meeting between Texas Tech and Baylor at AT&T Stadium in Arlington for the time being as the two schools have agreed to move the series back to campus beginning with the 2019 football season. The Red Raiders and Bears are meeting in the DFW area for the 10th-consecutive season and the ninth time overall at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys. n Since the series moved to the DFW area in 2009, both schools are averaging over 40 points a game against each other. The Red Raiders have scored at least 40 points in five of nine games during that span and at least 30 in all but one of those contests. n

Clayton Hatfield has a chance to solidify his name atop the Texas Tech career field goals chart Saturday as he needs to find the middle of the uprights one more time to tie Ryan Bustin for first all-time in program history. Hatfield currently has 49 field goals over his career as he is 16-of-17 on attempts this season, including a perfect 6-of-6 from 40 yards or longer. n Hatfield has connected on each of his last 12 field-goal attempts entering this weekend as he snapped his own school record with two successful tries last weekend at Iowa State. The senior leads in the FBS in field goal percentage heading into the regular-season finale. n
HONORING SEÑOR SACK Texas Tech will honor the memory of Red Raider great Gabe Rivera throughout the 2018 season. Rivera, one of five members of the prestigious Texas Tech Ring of Honor, passed away in his hometown of San Antonio on July 16.
Known by fans as “Señor Sack” throughout his career, Rivera compiled 321 career tackles, including 34 that went for a loss, over his four-year career from 1979-82. He was inducted into the National Football Foundation’s College Football Hall of Fame in 2012 and the Texas Tech Ring of Honor in 2014.
