GAMEDAY STORYLINES u

Texas Tech will look to close the 2016 season with a win Friday evening when the Red Raiders face Baylor at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The game will air live nationally on ESPN with Clay Matvick and Dusty Dvoracek calling the action and Shelley Smith reporting from the sidelines.

u

The Red Raiders are coming off a disappointing 66-10 setback last weekend at Iowa State that ensured Texas Tech of missing a bowl game for just the third time since 2000. Tech is currently 4-7 on the season entering Friday’s game with Baylor.

u

Texas Tech will be looking to snap a five-game losing streak to Baylor as the Bears now control a slight advantage in the all-time series with a 37-36-1 lead. The Red Raiders previously compiled a 15-game winning streak over Baylor before the Bears pulled off a 66-42 victory in 2011.

u

This will be the sixth-consecutive season where Texas Tech and Baylor have met inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The game is slated to remain in Arlington until the 2018 season.

MAHOMES LEADS THE NATION IN PASSING

TECH CLOSES REGULAR SEASON WITH BAYLOR

Patrick Mahomes II enters Friday’s contest as the nation’s overwhelming leader in passing yards and total offense per game. Mahomes has thrown for 4,466 yards through 11 games this season thanks in part to five games with over 400 yards, including three where he has eclipsed the 500-yard mark. He leads all other FBS quarterbacks by at least 472 passing yards entering the Baylor game.

The Red Raiders are in the midst of a three-game road swing to close the regular season which began at Oklahoma State and continued last weekend at Iowa State. This is the first time since 1940 - just Tech’s 16th season in program history - where the Red Raiders have played each of their final three regular-season games away from home. All three of those games in 1940 came in true road contests.
