RED RAIDERS ENTER BIG 12 PLAY Texas Tech enters Big 12 play with much-needed confidence after strong performances in back-to-back weeks with a 77-0 rout of Lamar followed by a 63-49 victory over a Houston program that was previously receiving votes in both top-25 polls. n That confidence will hopefully come in handy this weekend as the Red Raiders look to snap a nine-game losing streak to Oklahoma State. Texas Tech will also be searching for its first win over the Cowboys in Stillwater since the 2001 season. The Red Raiders are 21-21-3 all-time against the Cowboys. n

BOWMAN, WESLEY BREAKING RECORDS After watching his record-setting performance last weekend versus Houston, it might be tough to remember Alan Bowman is just a true freshman. Bowman, in just his second career start, threw for 605 yards and five touchdowns, snapping Patrick Mahomes’ previous Big 12 record for passing yards by a freshman. n Through two games this season, Bowman has completed 70.7 completion percentage over his 133 attempts. The Walter Camp National Player of the Week currently ranks second nationally in passing yards per game (386.7) and completions per game (31.3). n

Despite losing its starting quarterback and four wide receivers from a year ago (all to the NFL), Texas Tech once again ranks as the nation’s top offense as the Red Raiders lead the country in total yards per game (624.3) and passing yards per game (448.7) through the first three weeks of the season. n The Red Raiders head into this weekend’s tilt with Oklahoma State ranked third nationally in scoring offense after averaging 55.7 points per game thus far. Texas Tech has scored at least 60 points in each of its last two games, marking the first time the Red Raiders have done so in consecutive games since 2005. n

HONORING SEÑOR SACK Texas Tech will honor the memory of the Red Raider great Gabe Rivera throughout the 2018 season. Rivera, one of five members of the prestigious Texas Tech Ring of Honor, passed away in his hometown of San Antonio on July 16.

Known by fans as “Señor Sack” throughout his career, Rivera compiled 321 career tackles, including 34 that went for a loss, over his four-year career from 1979-82. He was inducted into the National Football Foundation’s College Football Hall of Fame in 2012 and the Texas Tech Ring of Honor in 2014.

NUMBERS TO KNOW

261

Number of receiving yards Antoine Wesley totaled against Houston, snapping the Texas Tech single-game record previously set by Joel Filani in 2005. Wesley leads the Big 12 and ranks fifth nationally with 413 receiving yards this season. #WreckEm

13

Number of rushing touchdowns Texas Tech has totaled so far this season, which is tied with Utah State for third in the country. Ta’Zhawn Henry has rushed for six of those touchdowns, the most for a Red Raider through three games since 2005.

Number of yards Alan Bowman needed against Houston to match the NCAA freshman record for passing yards. Bowman became just the third freshman in FBS history to pass for 600 yards in a game as he snapped the Big 12 and Texas Tech freshman record.
