Texas Tech begins the final stretch of Big 12 Conference play Saturday afternoon when the Red Raiders travel to face No. 17 Oklahoma State inside Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. with Tim Brando calling the action on FOX Sports 1 and Spencer Tillman providing the analysis.

u

The Red Raiders will need wins in two of their last three games in order to advance to a bowl for the 38th time in program history. All three of those games will come on the road, though, as the Red Raiders visit Iowa State and face Baylor in a neutral-site contest to close the regular season. Texas Tech ranks tied for 17th nationally and third in the Big 12 for bowl appearances alongside the likes of Miami (Fla.), Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Clemson.

u

Texas Tech is coming off a tough 45-37 loss to Texas this past weekend in its final game inside Jones AT&T Stadium. The Red Raider defense held Texas scoreless over its final four drives but the Red Raiders could not find the endzone and potentially game-tying two point conversion to overcome a 15-point deficit to start the fourth quarter.

u

Texas Tech will look to snap a seven-game losing streak against Oklahoma State this week as the Red Raiders have not defeated the Cowboys since a 56-20 victory during the 2008 season. Despite the losing streak, Tech leads the overall series against Oklahoma State with a 21-19-3 all-time advantage.

u

The Red Raiders will be looking for a repeat performance from the last time they went on the road which resulted in a 27-24 victory over TCU on Oct. 29. TEXAS TECH AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS The Texas Tech defense held the Horned Frogs to just one touchdown over the (Passing Offense) Yards/Game final 49:40 of regulation before Clayton Hatfield connected on a successful Rank School 1. Texas Tech 485.8 37-yard field goal to seal the victory in double overtime.

u

Texas Tech has been among the most disciplined teams in the country the past two weeks as the Red Raiders have committed just five penalties which have resulted in 19 yards. The Red Raiders matched the school records with just one penalty and five penalty yards against TCU. The one penalty matched the previous record that was previously set in 1988 against Arkansas, 1991 versus Rice and 1992 against Texas A&M.

MAHOMES LEADS THE NATION IN PASSING

RED RAIDERS HEAD TO THE ROAD

Patrick Mahomes II enters Saturday’s contest as the nation’s overwhelming leader in passing yards and total offense per game. Mahomes has thrown for 3,886 yards through NINE games this season thanks in part to five games with over 400 yards, including three where he has eclipsed the 500-yard mark. He leads all other FBS quarterbacks by at least 649 passing yards entering the Texas game.

The Red Raiders will head on the road for the final three games of the regular season with trips to Oklahoma State and Iowa State as well as a neutral-site meeting against Baylor at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. This is the first time since 1940 - just Texas Tech’s 16th season in program history - where the Red Raiders have played each of their final three regular-season games away from home.
