TECH LOOKS TO BOUNCE BACK AT WVU Following its second open weekend of the 2019 season, Texas Tech returns to action Saturday when the Red Raiders travel to Morgantown for an 11 a.m. CT kickoff against West Virginia. Tech head coach Matt Wells is 7-1 over his career in games immediately following an open weekend with the lone loss coming earlier this year at then-No. 6 Oklahoma. n This weekend’s matchup features a pair of familiar faces for both schools as West Virginia head coach Neal Brown was Texas Tech’s offensive coordinator from 2010-12, while Red Raider defensive coordinator Keith Patterson held the same position with the Mountaineers from 2012-13. n

RED RAIDERS HEAD TO NOVEMBER Texas Tech will aim for a strong month of November in order to advance to its 39th bowl appearance in school history as the Red Raiders will need three wins over their final four games to extend their season. Tech has not closed a regular season with three wins over its final four games since 2010 when the Red Raiders closed with victories over No. 14 Missouri, Weber State and Houston. n The Red Raiders have not topped three Big 12 foes during the month of November since 2008 when Texas Tech downed No. 1 Texas, No. 8 Oklahoma State and then Baylor as part of an 11-win regular season. n

Jordyn Brooks and Douglas Coleman III are among the top All-America candidates entering the final month of the regular season as both seniors rank among the national leaders in several defensive categories. Brooks ranks among the top 10 nationally for tackles for a loss per game (1.9), total tackles per game (10.9) and solo tackles per game (6.4). n Coleman, meanwhile, is the FBS leader with seven interceptions, the final of which came just over a week ago at Kansas. He and Darcel McBath (2008) are the only Red Raiders in the Big 12 era to pick off seven passes in a season. n

HONORING TWO LEGENDS

Texas Tech will honor the memory of two of its all-time greats the remainder this season in College Football Hall of Famers and Ring of Honor members Dave Parks and E.J. Holub. Parks passed away Aug. 8 at the age of 77, while Holub passed Sept. 21 at the age of 81. Texas Tech will wear two special helmet decals for both legends throughout the remainder of the 2019 football season.

WE, US & OUR PROGRAM Since his hire last November, Matt Wells has emphasized that the Red Raider football program will be a “We, Us and Our Program.” “This is a We, Us and Our Program. I’ve said it from day one it’s not about me, it’s not about the starting linebacker, running back or one coordinator or one fan. It’s the power of what we can do together. We’re not an offensive unit. We’re not a defensive unit. We’re a team. We’re Red Raiders. It’s the culture we are creating in this program. We need the passion of Red Raider Nation to make Jones AT&T Stadium the toughest place to play in the Big 12 Conference. We have to do it together.” - Matt Wells #WreckEm
