RED RAIDERS TRAVEL WEST TO FACE UTEP 2014 BIG 12 STANDINGS Texas Tech will hit the road for the first time this season as the Red RaidCONF OVERALL STK ers travel to far West Texas to face the UTEP Miners on Saturday night at SOUTH 0-0 1-0 W1 the Sun Bowl in El Paso. Texas Tech won its season opener against Central Baylor Kansas State 0-0 1-0 W3 Arkansas 42-35 in front of a sellout crowd of 60,778 at Jones AT&T StadiOklahoma 0-0 1-0 W5 um. UTEP was also victorious in its opener as the Miners escaped AlbuTCU 0-0 1-0 W1 querque with a 31-24 win over the Lobos at University Stadium. Tickets Texas 0-0 1-0 W1 for Saturday’s game at the Sun Bowl are available for purchase online at Texas Tech 0-0 1-0 W2 www.utepathletics.com. Saturday’s game will be televised nationally by Kansas 0-0 0-0 L2 FOX Sports 1. Fans will be able to tune to the radio broadcast from the Oklahoma State 0-0 0-1 L2 Texas Tech Sports Network on one of 38 affiliates across the region. Brian Iowa State 0-0 0-1 L1 Jensen returns to the broadcast booth as the play-by-play announcer for West Virginia 0-0 0-1 L4 his 15th season and is joined by veteran John Harris who will be in his 32nd year of providing analysis. Chris Level rounds out the crew as the sideline reporter and is in his fifth season. NATIONAL TELEVISION Saturday’s game will be televised nationally on FOX Sports 1. Craig Bolerjack and Ryan Nece will have the call for FS1. TEXAS TECH AND UTEP • Texas Tech and UTEP will be meeting for the 22nd time on Saturday night. • Texas Tech leads the all-time series against UTEP 14-6-1. • Texas Tech leads the all-time series in games played in El Paso 6-3-1. • Texas Tech has won five-straight games against the Miners dating back to the 1963 season. In that streak are two wins against the Miners in El Paso. • Texas Tech and UTEP last played on Sept. 8, 2007, at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock. The Red Raiders won that game 45-31 with 561 yards of total offense. Quarterback Graham Harrell threw for 484 yards and four touchdown passes while Michael Crabtree hauled in 15 receptions for 188 yards and two touchdowns. • Texas Tech’s last game in El Paso was a barn-burner as the Red Raiders needed overtime to outlast the Miners 38-35. Alex Trilica hit a 49-yard field goal that bounced off the left upright in overtime to give Tech the win. The Red Raiders put up 479 yards of total offense but surrendered 495 yards of offense to UTEP.
