RED RAIDERS OPEN BIG 12 PLAY IN STILLWATER Texas Tech opens up Big 12 Conference play on Thursday night in Stillwater as the Red Raiders face No. No. 24 Oklahoma State. Thursday’s game will be nationally televised on ESPN with kickoff slated for 6:30 p.m. Texas Tech will be looking to bounce back from a 49-28 setback at home against Arkansas on Sept. 13. The loss dropped the Red Raiders to 2-1 on the season. Oklahoma State stands at 2-1 on the year after winning its last two games against Missouri State and UTSA. The Cowboys pulled a near upset of top-ranked Florida State in the season opener at AT&T Stadium on Aug. 30.

Brian Jensen returns to the broadcast booth as the play-by-play announcer for his 15th season and is joined by veteran John Harris who will be in his 32nd year of providing analysis. Chris Level rounds out the crew as the sideline reporter and is in his fifth season. TEXAS TECH IN BIG 12 OPENERS Texas Tech opens Big 12 Conference play on the road for the eighth time in the last 11 years and the 14th time overall. Despite having to start league play on the road nearly every season, Texas Tech has managed a 12-6 record in Big 12 openers. Texas Tech has won three straight Big 12 openers, dating back to a 45-34 win at Kansas on Oct. 1, 2011. Texas Tech defeated No. 24 TCU in the Big 12 opener last season, 20-10. FLASHBACK Texas Tech and Oklahoma State will kick off Big 12 Conference play for just the second time on Thursday night in Stillwater. The last time Tech and OSU faced off in the conference opener was in Stillwater on Sept. 22, 2007, when Oklahoma State edged the Red Raiders 49-45 in front of 37,850 fans at Boone Pickens Stadium. Texas Tech had a final chance to win but Michael Crabtree, the nation’s leader in receptions and touchdown catches at the time, let a 15-yard pass from Graham Harrell bounce off his hands in the end zone after Oklahoma State cornerback Ricky Price flashed in front of him with 11 seconds remaining. TEXAS TECH AND OKLAHOMA STATE • Texas Tech and Oklahoma State will be meeting for the 42nd time on Thursday night. The Red Raiders lead the all-time series 21-17-3 but the Cowboys have won the last five games against the Red Raiders dating back to the 2009 season. • Texas Tech will be in search of its first win in Stillwater since 2001. The Cowboys have posted five consecutive wins against the Red Raiders at Boone Pickens stadium dating back to a 51-49 win on Oct. 18, 2003. • The last five games in Stillwater between Texas Tech and Oklahoma State have produced a combined 4,958 yards of total offense. Oklahoma State has the edge with 2,500 yards of total offense compared to 2,458 by Texas Tech. Texas Tech put up 718 yards of total offense in 2007 while Oklahoma State peaked with 673 in 2003.
