ICT PLUS+ Feature How can I use ICT PLUS+ to help me get the most out of my allocation?
ICT PLUS+ (Planning, Leading, Utilisation, Strategy) is here to aid principals and school leaders in making data-informed decisions. It currently provides insight into “managed” device data for Google, Microsoft and Apple devices (excluding iOS devices, e.g. iPads and iPhones). FYI | “Managed” means machines that are connected to the network and run the Departments Standard Operating Environment (SOE) image. Access to ICT PLUS+ is currently open to all school principals and field operations teams; school principals can in turn delegate access to other staff members via AMU.
The Planning Dashboard in the ICT PLUS+ tool can answer the following questions for your school’s managed devices: • How many managed devices in your school
are out of warranty? Take a look at the Warranty chart. • How many managed devices have 1 year or
less warranty remaining? Download the Devices List and filter by warranty date. • Are they desktops or laptops?
Click on the “Expired Warranty” segment of the Warranty chart, then take a look at the Form Factor chart. Watch this 1-minute video to hear about the tool and what it can do for you. Hot tip: ICT PLUS+ is best used in the Chrome browser.
If you’re unfamiliar with the terminology used in the tool, or if you’re curious about where the data comes from, visit the FAQ page in the ICT PLUS+ tool. This page also contains a link to an introduction video that walks through the sections of the tool, if you prefer a guided tour. ICT PLUS+ sources data from multiple existing systems, making the various sources accessible in one place. Have you found that the data in ICT PLUS+ doesn’t line up to what you’ve found in your school? Please reach out to let us know and we’ll escalate your concern to the relevant ITD team, you can contact us directly on ictplus-devteam@det.nsw.edu.au
BACK TO CONTENTS
• When was the last time someone logged
into them? Take a look at the Utilisation chart, determined by last login date per device. For a detailed list of this information (and more) per managed device, go to the Devices List (Managed Only) table at the bottom of the Planning Dashboard and click Download as CSV.

User Scenario Our school is refreshing its computer lab, and the monitors are starting to look tired and become unreliable. We are tight on space having converted a meeting room in to a computer lab and space is an issue. The 21 inch monitor meets our needs, being reliable, functional and a great size for our space, they also pair perfectly with the Base desktop that is the most common device in this space.

User Scenario Our teachers and students are active users of older iPads. They are used to access administrative tools like Google Classroom and Microsoft OneNote and our teachers love the easy classroom management with Apple Classroom. But these old iPads are reaching the end of their useful life and we need to upgrade. We considered other devices but the lightweight form factor, the ease of use and our teachers familiarity with these devices made the decision to select iPads easy.

In addition with our schools focus on creativity and content creation, the ability to access the full GarageBand and iMovie toolset sealed the deal. Our only choice was whether to select the advanced or base iPad. We had experienced storage issues before, but with a strict file management policy with files regularly deleted means we can stick with the value oriented base tablet.

Mac ticks all these boxes, and considering an additional need to make this lab mobile, the MacBook is the perfect device for our needs. Whilst in the past the management of these devices would have made this choice difficult, the introduction of JAMF management means we can now manage both our iPads and Macs from the one console.

Schools that receive larger T4L unit allocations might like to use this handy T4L Devices Calculator in Excel to help them determine exactly how many of each device they can order to appropriately consume all their T4L units. When you’ve determined exactly how many of each device you want, you can print the sheet and transpose those numbers into your T4L school order form.
