Adaptation In Written by: Ellexus Glockner. Fashion COVID-19 has caused immense damage to every business in the world, and forever changed the economy. This obviously impacted the fashion industry as well. Mass store closures, suppliers shutting down, and a lack of consumer demand left designers and sellers wondering how they were going to maintain their businesses. Despite these major disruptions, designers found a way to adapt to this new way of life, and completely reshape the fashion industry. Some changes were as small as updating a website or advertising, and some were entirely restructuring what we know the fashion industry to be. Milan and Paris Fashion weeks were happening in late February, right as COVID was starting to grow into the pandemic it is today. Designers dropped out, the press didn’t show up, and the clothing shown never made it to retail. These were possibly the last “normal” fashion weeks that we will ever see. Obviously, runway shows have looked different throughout the year and will continue to change in 2021 because of the travel restrictions. Brands like Gucci and Saint Laurent are taking this opportunity to get rid of the traditional show schedule all together. Countless luxury brands have joined together to reset the timeline of releasing their collections.

They are producing less runway shows, less clothing as a whole, and releasing clothing in a more timely way. Some brands, however, were adamant on maintaining their schedules. Dior and Chanel simply shifted their medium. Instead of having a runway show with in person guests or the annual Métiers d’Art, they had these events through Zoom. Brands have been participating in digital fashion weeks, not changing their production at all. One thing that has changed with these digital shows is the lack of clothing. As strange as it may seem, most of these shows did not have an actual collection to present. Design teams were unable to meet in person, and people were restricted in their ability to go to their studios. There was simply not enough time to create new collections while trying to adjust to new COVID protocol. Instead these shows were full of digital art: photography, films, panel sessions, podcasts, and playlists. The brands focused on making content, not clothing. It became more important now than ever to emphasize that a brand is more than just clothing..

Mainstream fashion has also been affected by COVID, but many would think it has been a positive impact as much as a negative. It’s no secret that fashion is one of the largest polluters in the world, and there are countless flaws in the manufacturing process. Before COVID, a retailer would purchase hundreds of a product, with no guarantee that they would all sell. This led to so much waste and unsold clothing. Now, there is a pull towards on-demand manufacturing. Brands eliminate inventory, fabric waste, and warehousing entirely. The product is produced once the sale is complete, and it can be shipped out within days. While it is possible for this to be more expensive on all ends, it is a better use of money for the retailer, and the consumer. There has also been a huge focus on local businesses and designers, rather than big name retailers. COVID has caused so many small businesses to shut down and consumers are putting effort into supporting them. Not only local businesses, but also local manufacturing are growing in popularity. With the lack of travel and issues with shipping, especially in the United States, overseas manufacturing is becoming less and less reliable. On top of this, there is an emphasis on consumer relationships. The digital marketplace has only grown since March and companies have to try even harder to connect with their customers. Obviously, this makes it easier to draw in new customers. As a whole, the fashion industry has done everything it can to be successful throughout these trying times. That success simply can’t look the same as it did a year ago. Small designers, well known companies, retailers, and everyone else have had to completely reshape everything they know within the industry. Bringing In 2021 Written by: Sofia Caicedo. The ball drops in Times Square, the clock strikes twelve. The New Year has arrived! Families and friends gather at parties together, celebrating a brand new start. For most, this is what the New Year was like. Unfortunately, due to the worldwide pandemic that has affected us all, it is not possible this year. Do not worry yet, as there are many ways to “ring in” the New Year while having fun AND staying safe! The safest way to celebrate the New Year is to have a virtual New Year’s party. Having virtual parties ensures that you and your friends or family are properly distanced and stay “in your own bubble.” Technology wise, there are a variety of apps that can help you and your family have the best time. Some apps include but are not limited to Zoom, FaceTime, Skype and HouseParty. Other suggestions are social media apps that offer a “video chat” option. Some examples are Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook. In the end, it is just what works best for you and your close ones. Although there are the risks of the technology not working, there will not be the risk of catching the virus! Another great option is to celebrate with those you live with. Even if it isn’t with your friends or your whole entire family, you can still make it super fun. Making a fancy dinner and getting all dressed up can definitely uplift your mood! You could also add cute decorations throughout your home for a lively look! While waiting for the New Year, you can also create fun activities for your household such as scavenger hunts or arts and crafts. An additional option for staying entertained is to play board games. They are very enjoyable and can help bring your family closer! TBB MAGAZINE

Although this is not recommended, you might find yourself at a New Year’s party with other people. In the case that this does happen, keep a few things in mind for your safety and the safety of those around you. First, make sure you are properly social distancing from others, staying six feet apart. Next, keep your mask on at all times, with the exception of eating and drinking. Finally, have your party be as short as possible. If you would like for all of your close ones to be together when the clock strikes twelve, invite them over closer to midnight. If you would like to have an early celebration, it would be best for you and your guests to celebrate New Year’s separately. In the end, this year’s outcome was very unexpected. For the (Soon-To-Be) Written by: Jill LaPine College Babes As Spring semester creeps closer, I know how stressful it can be to start thinking about or applying for college. As a current college student, I remember how confused and lost I was about figuring the whole college thing out. I just wish someone had all of the answers for me because everything seemed so uncertain! That being said, I did survive that time in my life and I am now excited to share some of my tips I’ve learned with all of you! If you’re super new to the whole idea of college, applications, essays and deadlines like I was, it can be confusing where to start. There are so many colleges to look at with so many requirements! Where does one even begin?! Luckily, there are some steps you can take to make the process a bit more manageable. For people just starting to think about college, my advice would to be to first visualize your dream self out of high school. What does that look like for you? What are you doing on a daily basis? Where do you live? What are you passionate about and what do you want to pursue? Without putting any limitations on it, imagine what you would love to be doing out of high school and write it down. From there, it’s easy to start putting the pieces together and figuring where and want you want to do. For me personally, I wanted a smaller learning environment where I could study graphic design (and be by the beach!). TBB MAGAZINE

Once you decide on a few colleges, it’s important to decide how you will apply. Many schools in the United States accept something called the Common Application. Basically, it is one large application that allows you to apply to as many schools that you want using that singular application. It saves a TON of time. However, be sure to do your research and see if the schools you want to apply to accept the Common App. If they don’t, you need to apply directly through the school on their website and pay a separate application fee. Another tip that really helps during the application time is to MAKE LISTS WITH DATES! There are a TON of dates that are important to know when applying to colleges, and you don’t want to miss any! Be sure to know when everything is due and write it down so you have no chance of forgetting/missing important documents. As far as actually filling out your application, do not underestimate the power of the college essay. This was one of the harder parts of the application for me, just because it takes a lot of thought and effort to really show the schools who are you. Spending time making sure your essay is empowering and wellwritten is so so so important! This gives you the unique opportunity to show the schools of your dreams who you really are behind the GPA and test scores. If you can, I would suggest having an English teacher, or another teacher that you trust, look over your essay and give you a second opinion and perhaps give some beneficial input. All this being said, try not to really stress out too much about your applications and don’t be too hard on yourself. Try your best and do the work but also enjoy where you are. High school is amazing and don’t miss out on where you are spending all your time and energy on the future! Learn to balance the work and do what is needed to succeed! Good luck babes!!! © TBB2020

Tackling Ambition When we have an ambition and complete it we get so proud of ourselves. The only potential problem that comes with achieving can be an ego. When you complete something you might be so proud of yourself you let it get to your head and think you are better than everyone else. When you achieve an ambition you must stay humble. Especially as a business. So what exactly is an ambition? An ambition aspiration/goal that you want to achieve. This goal will take a lot of work. Ambitions are great for personal growth. When you dream big that is an ambition. An ambition for a small business can be getting consistent sales. Every small business wants consistent sales and we want to grow big. Once we get there we have to make sure to stay humble and remember where we started. When you start growing and becoming well known you can not think that you are better than the rest. At the end of the day we are all the same. When you think you are superior to the rest you will lose friends. No one wants to be friends with someone who is stuck up and doesn't think about others. When you are humble you will be able to work on yourself and your brand. However when you are not humble you are only going to try to be better than other small businesses which can really affect you and how you work.

Let me walk you through how you can pursue your ambition. The first thing you need to do is take a risk. Business is all about taking a risk and hoping for the best. You need to push yourself out of your comfort zone and be willing to make mistakes. We grow from our mistakes. The next step is having a positive mindset. Make a plan on what you want to do. Listen to podcasts, read books, watch youtube videos, and make business friends to help keep a positive boss babe mindset. The third step is to stay committed. Find an accountability partner that can help remind you of your ambition. You can also set up a mood board, make a list, and give specific dates on when you want to complete steps of the process. Just remember to make your ambition realistic and achievable. The last step is to embrace your failure. Nobody is perfect and we are going to make many business mistakes. The only thing that is left when we make a mistake is take feedback and learn from it. You can write down how you are going to improve it next time as well.
Now how to stay humble. First of all humility means that knowing we are ordinary. Don’t take this the wrong way when we complete something we should be proud of ourselves but we need to see what else we can do to grow and be better. Asking for help is totally okay! Here are a few reminders/tips that can help you stay humble. Admit you make mistakes and you're not always doing the best. Be grateful for the achievement you have. Don’t blame others and admit you have made a fault. Lastly, appreciate the people who have been there for you since day one. You will have many achievements throughout your boss babe journey. Remember to be grateful and show it. It is crucial to be humble since it will bring success. Write down your ambitions and start achieving them little by little!

Now that you have bought the website plan that is best for you, it's time to start designing your website. The number one tip for starting a small business is to be well informed of everything you will need to start your business. Have a checklist where your store will be located. A Year In Review Teen Boss Bes has come a long way since it started eight months ago on April 1, 2020, and has been able to grow its social media followers, achieve significant milestones, and connect with the community in many ways. Here’s a look into what they have since their business has started. In this small time, Teen Boss Babes has gained over 8 thousand followers on Instagram and 21 thousand followers on Tik Tok being able to create an inclusive and friendly community of boss babes. Also, TBB’s Creative team has grown over the last couple as they have opened team applications twice, welcoming new members to further help TBB grow in different aspects. Teen Boss Babes has a Podcast Team, Magazine Team, Blog Writing Team, Pinterest Team, and a Graphics Team that all help TBB function as one and keep providing content for our fellow boss babes. They hope to expand their team with more people as they have just opened Team Applications this November.

In the 8 months that TBB has been on social media, they have reached many big milestones. A big milestone has been the multiple FREE webinars TBB has hosted for the community. These webinars have included many great informational presentations on how to start a business, how to contact brands to work with you, how to self-care, and many more topics that have truly guided people to become successful in their business. Another big milestone has been connecting with and getting to chat with many content creators such as Ellie Zieler, Bella Lore, Brooke Miccio, Taylor King, and many more. To top it off, a big milestone that helped TBB get where they are today was their day in a life of hitting 3K Tik Tok going viral! With all of these followers, TBB has been able to gain they have positively impacted the community as they’ve been able to connect teens. Not only have they connected teens through our social media, but also many have become good business friends and have been able to help each other when needed. A Boss Babe is recognized each month in their magazine in hopes of shining some light on other small business owners working hard. Each time TBB has a new webinar the creative team and the community are able to connect with each other and always be there for anyone if anyone needs some guidance on their business.
Teen Boss Babes hopes to continue to grow more and see more success stories come their way. Maybe one day they will be able to host live in person events where the tbb community comes together and are able to meet each other. Also, I hope that the creative team can come together and meet in person since the team did start online and everyone is from all over the world. Many big things are in store for TBB’s future..
