DEFINING EXCELLENCE IN ART TEFAF Maastricht is widely recognised as the world’s leading art and antiques fair. With over 30,000 objects for sale representing the finest of 7,000 years of art history currently on the market, combined with the knowledge, service and personal attention of 275 international, expert dealers, the Fair is a truly unrivalled experience. Every March, TEFAF Maastricht draws art professionals and connoisseurs from around the globe to The Netherlands. It attracts major private collectors and renowned international institutions, as well as, regional museums, interior designers, art consultants, dealers and the merely curious. Over 170 experts organised into 29 specialist vetting committees examine every single object for sale at the Fair for condition, quality and authenticity. This rigorous procedure allows potential purchasers to buy with confidence.

The elegantly designed and lavishly decorated Fair is divided into eight sections covering every imaginable form of art and antique. TEFAF Antiques, TEFAF Classical Antiquities, TEFAF Design, TEFAF Haute Joaillerie, TEFAF Modern, TEFAF Paintings, TEFAF Paper, TEFAF Showcase TEFAF Showcase introduces seasoned collectors to new talent as it provides a unique opportunity for emerging galleries to participate in TEFAF Maastricht for one year. TEFAF showcase participants are clustered in a special area at the Fair. This year the chosen candidates represent a wide range of disciplines from many continents spanning from Egyptian antiquities and African Tribal Art to contemporary East Asian Art. The 28th edition of TEFAF Maastricht runs from 13-22 March 2015.
TEFAF Paintings From the outset TEFAF developed an unrivalled reputation for Old Master paintings. TEFAF Paintings offers an extensive collection of Flemish, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, French, German and English paintings, prints and drawings from the 13th to the 19th century.
TEFAF Antiques TEFAF Antiques is the largest section at TEFAF with around one hundred exhibitors. Here collectors can find thousands of unique items of furniture and objets d’art, often with extraordinary provenance. There is furniture from the 16th to the 19th century, European, Chinese and Japanese porcelain, medieval to modern sculpture, textiles, Oriental art, manuscripts, antique jewellery, ceramics, silver and glass. Icons, ethnographic art, pre-Columbian art, musical instruments, clocks, scientific instruments, and much, much more.
TEFAF Modern TEFAF Modern occupies a quarter of the fair and offers classical modern and contemporary art. Around 45 leading dealers present a cross-section of 20th- and 21st-century art from around the globe. Night Fishing, a show of work by post-modern and contemporary artists curated by Sydney Picasso, has its debut at the 2015 Fair to complement the TEFAF Modern section. In a specially designed area nine galleries each present a single artist exhibition. The concept aims to stimulate the appreciation of cross-references between objects to be found in different sections of the Fair. With Night Fishing Sydney Picasso uses the post-modern and contemporary canon to re-examine a subject of current and on-going redefinition; sculpture.
TEFAF Haute JOAILLERIE TEFAF Haute Joaillerie reveals a world of dazzling beauty, where the most prestigious and revered jewellery houses present their latest collections. The jewellery, watches and decorative objects are all expertly made using the finest materials and most exciting designs.
TEFAF CLASSICAL ANTIQUITIES The TEFAF Classical Antiquities section is a veritable treasure trove. The past is brought to life by examples of Greek pottery, Roman statuary and Egyptian mummy masks, amongst many other rare objects.
TEFAF DESIGN TEFAF Design highlights leading international specialists in 20th-century design and applied arts. TEFAF Design was introduced in 2009 to respond to the growing interest in this field which attracts an ever increasing number of private and professional collectors.
TEFAF PAPER TEFAF Paper includes fine prints and drawings ranging from the 15th century to the present day, antiquarian books and manuscripts, Japanese prints, paintings and screens on paper next to fine art photographs from the 19th century to the contemporary era. Teyler’s Legacy is a special exhibition of twenty-eight remarkable drawings from the renaissance to the 21st century from Teylers Museum in Haarlem, which first opened to the public in 1784 and is the oldest museum in The Netherlands. Highlights from the exhibition include works by Michelangelo (1475-1564), Hendrick Goltzius (1558-1617) and Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn (1606-1669). These 15th -, 16th - and 17th -century works will be contrasted with drawings by contemporary European artists like Guiseppe Penone, Marlene Dumas and Pavel Pepperstein.

TEFAF Art Symposium / Private goes Public The annual TEFAF Art Symposium will be held on Friday 13 March from 9.30 — 11.30 am at the MECC in Maastricht. A maximum of € 50,000 is awarded to one or two museums towards the funding of a restoration project.
