WHAT IS COOPERATIVE LEARNING? According to Dr. Kagan, COOPERATIVE LEARNING is a teaching method that refers to small and heterogeneous teams of students working together to achieve the same goal. Students work together in order to learn and are responsible not only for their own learning, but also for their teammates. Studies around the world have shown that when you learn using COOPERATIVE LEARNING, there are a improvement in the academic skills as well as social skill. The students improve their learning skills and students who have learning disabilities and difficulties have a better development and the gap among decreases. Another positive aspect of COOPERATIVE LEARNING is that increases the students´ intrinsic motivation. Students are willing to cooperate and be an active part of the class, therefore their self-esteem is increased.
