INTRODUCTION

The FLOAT Series of lightweight, high-volume air shocks continue their World Cup winning ways, with revolutionary Boost Valve速. Boost Valve technology was developed at the most demanding downhill courses in the world, and optimized for cross-country and trail bike use.

This technology provides velocity and position-sensitive damping that can be designed into the beginning of the stroke, the end of the stroke, or both at the same time. The ProPedal速 system provides maximum pedalling efficiency, traction, and square edge performance, with the elimination of first strike harshness when activated. REBOUND

Rebound damping controls how quickly the suspension returns after being compressed and gives you a predictable and controlled ride, while maintaining traction.

Assessing rebound by simply pushing on the handle bars or seat does not indicate the performance of the system in a dynamic environment. Save your judgment of rebound performance for a test section of trail.

REBOUND TOO FAST If rebound is too fast the bike will be unstable while pedaling and riding through shallow bumps. The unsettling effect is noticed as your body weight is pitched over the bike.

REBOUND TOO SLOW If rebound is too slow, there will be insufficient recovery between bumps to ensure successive bumps are absorbed. Harshness will be noticed on longer rough sections.

PROPEDAL

The ProPedal (PP) adjuster is a wide range lowspeed compression (LSC) adjuster. LSC damping refers to the damper force generated at low damper shaft speeds.

LSC damping (adjusted via the ProPedal adjuster) provides resistance to the suspension being compressed by rider induced movement. This relates to pedalling forces, changes in mass distribution, shallow and small bumps.

PP TOO SOFT Pedaling, changes in mass distribution, small and shallow bumps will cause excessive compression. A lack of support is noticed as the suspension uses excessive travel with minimal input (wallow).

PP TOO FIRM Small bump sensitivity and traction will be compromised. A harsh ride and loss of traction is noticed over loose and rough terrain.

Counter clockwise adjustment Softer PP Lower number

BOOST VALVE The Boost Valve and velocity tune contribute to the overall control of the compression stroke, providing the high-speed compression (HSC) damping characteristics.

Tuning of the HSC damping characteristics is indicated in situations of poor mid stroke support (wallow), compression overshoot (lack of support throughout the stroke) and excessive bottom-out.

HSC damping refers to the damper force generated at high damper shaft speeds; it provides resistance to the suspension being compressed quickly and relates to landings, large and square edge bumps. Tuning considers rider weight and suspension design, in selecting the appropriate Boost Valve and velocity tunes, as well as selecting the appropriate air spring curve and rebound tune.

The HSC damping characteristics of the FLOAT RP23 can be tailored to your needs via optimising the internal tunes....
